This production of Hello, Dolly! is one of the best revivals that we've had in the west end. Just went to see it the other day and I am speechless even now. I really like how this show actually got the chance to do perform this because I remember they tried to do this in 2020 but of course that couldn't happen. Amazing things are worth the wait!!
Was at the show last night - 16th July -= AMAZING! The whole cast were a class apart - and Imelda! SUBLIME! That lady is true theatre royalty. Never in all my years of going to the theatre have I witnessed, nor been part of, such an ovation at the end of a show! I have no words to describe it - this show is a MUST see! You've only got till 14th Sept to see it!
seeing her as the understudy to Julia McKenzie in 'Guys and Dolls' over 40 years ago, and then her taking over the role of Miss Adelaide, to this point is quite the trajectory. She was a lovely young woman then (I worked in the same theatre), and seems to have not have changed in that regard. A national treasure, deserving the recognition she receives.
Watched the show 20th August. Brilliant performance by Imelda and the cast. What an amazing set, with the scrollling background plus the travelator. I honestly thought the train was real! Best musical in the West End this summer.
I still can't get over this production's orchestrations. 21 pieces, yet when I close my eyes - it sounds like a much larger orchestra. Stellar cast, Imelda is brilliant as Dolly, not to mention these stunning visuals (shame I can't see this in person unless I fly across the pond - only two months)
She absolutely nailed the journey from grief to joy, hers is a many layered Dolly. Lovely touch in ‘Before the Parade Passes By’ when the Funeral Directors Guild March past, she greets and shakes the hand of the boss. A nod to the passing of her late husband.
This morning will go down in History for 2 reasons #1 my husband suprised me this morning with a trip to London for 2 weeks and on August 17 he got 2 tickets 3rd row center Orchestra to see my #1❤ Stage actress Imelda Staunton in Hello Dolly!!! #2 I wrote her a fan letter and she answered back the next day!!!!! I am now in Imelda heaven!!!!
Ok, yay for you and your husband! I'm jealous but happy for you! So do say, where did you write her? I want to- I talked to her after Gypsy but would love to write her.
Lucky you! She is FABulous. I am always so impressed that she has done and continues to do musicals in the west end as well as being one of England's greatest dramatic actresses--she was so brilliant in Masterpiece's "Flesh and Blood."
I told my daughter that I would take her on a mother-daughter trip to celebrate her college graduation. She picked London. And I insisted on seeing Hello Dolly, which we saw tonight. Dame Imelda was absolutely fabulous!!! Please come perform in the states.
I want to see Imelda! Hope it will transfer to New York next year-- if I could get there and afford it from Boston! Saw her twice in London in Gypsy! She's the best!
I saw her in Gypsy a number of years ago and thought I she was fantastic then. Nothing here to change my opinion!! As somebody commented, she was excellent as Professor Umbridge in the Harry Potter films. That high pitched giggle was like chalk squeaking down an old.blackboard.
@KajiVocals I saw the Tina Turner musical in Sydney. There was someone taping the production. At interval an usher and a security officer pulled the woman aside and made her delete the recording. They were given a round of applause by the rest of the audience.
To be completely fair, there's like two keyboardists AND a guitar down there (the second keyboardist doubles celesta as well as other patches from what I saw in a video uploaded by somebody last mont,), but the audio mixing is SO immaculate that you almost don't know they're down there hahaha
To me Imelda Staunton will be forever sinister and corrupt Dolores Umbridge, even when she does the Queen. She's a fabulous actress-like so many of her British colleagues really. How do they get so good?
They don't let their egos get away with them. And they study and work hard for years. They tend to stay humble. Imelda and Judi Dench are prime examples of what dedication can do.
Saw Channing in the role six times. There are videos floating around of her performances. The role is hers. Saw a video of Imelda in Gypsy. Hated it. Can’t touch Lansbury or Merman, and I saw them both.
wow, I didn't know her majesty could sing like that! impressive! two observations though.....1: damn, that's a huge cast. and 2. why is that one chick wearing glasses? is this a diversity thing?
Streisand was wonderful, but 25-30 years too young for the part, and for obvious reasons the character's name was no longer Dolly GALLAGHER Levi -- Thornton Wilder (who added the character to the 19th century Austrian source play) made a subtly subversive statement about Dolly's fiercely independent streak by making her an Irish woman who married a Jewish man.

Ditto. Went on the 15th. Great show and great audience.
It looks FABULOUS! Hope it comes to Los Angeles!
Who could top Barbra Streisand ?

Went to London to see it and I dont regret anyting! 100% recommend😀!
Look at her bring it and open wide and bright. Such a wonderful actress and clearly an intelligent singer as well.

@user-te7uz4vf1b Have a great trip and enjoy "Dolly!"
Well i have just booked my ticket for the evening show on August 17 Row B16 orchestra! We can both say hi to Queen Imelda! 😊

You are the best!!! Thank you from the of my heart for the hours of enjoyment you have given me!!! You truly are the best!!!
Does anyone know if we will get a cast recording? Was at the show yesterday and I’m still reeling with how perfect it was!
Saw this last night, I was blown away.⭐️

Wish this same production and cast would come to Broadway. I would be in Heaven if I saw Imelda in Hello, Dolly. She is simply amazing.
I didn't realise the talent that is Imelda Staunton. Magic on that stage.
She's magic in any thing she does -- musicals, comedy or heavy drama. She's just incredible.
She is absolute magic.
I saw this fabulous imelda great....plus it looks part animation bcos of moving scenery loved it❤
This production is a triumph. The most fun I've had at the theatre for a long long time. Sorry to see it go!
I had no idea Imelda Staunton could sing so well, I am really impressed!
She was one of Sondheims favourite leading ladies, he asked her to consider Gypsy, and she won an Olivier Award for Rose. She’s an actress who sings.
@@1pureboy1 I didn't know, thank you!
A great actress can be anyone, someone you love or hate. She is that.
Saw the show this afternoon Wow Wow Dolly 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉

That would never happen 1:58
This has been announced as just a summer run, from July 6 to September 14.
@@auroraspiderwoman5886 So no transfer? Sad face.
@@debra13 Doubtful, especially as we last had "Dolly!" in 2018 and that production toured into 2020.

Saw the show last night fantastic
We saw this last night - incredible show. A must see ❤
Oh this production looks FANTASTIC!!!!!
Wow, she really has a “Bette” sound to her voice here, although it’s so little to go by. She is a powerhouse.
She does a bit, doesn't she, especially in the beginning when she sings.
I noticed she even has Bette's demeanor as well. A compliment to Bette and Miss Staunton! Congrats!!!💃🕺@@debra13

Going to see this next Friday. Can't wait!
Just brilliant 🙌🏻👏🏻 thank you for sharing ❤
I must not tell lies…she was actually great!

Seeing her tomorrow night. Very excited!

@@cliffordroberts5783 Not video. I'd never do that. AUDIO!! And I also don't post these things online only share with people I know.

@@cliffordroberts5783 Video?? Why would anyone do that? Very distracting.
Carol Channing would be proud! Well done, Imelda!
Check out the movie PETERS FRIENDS...she sang around the piano with the likes of Emma Thompson. Both ladies can sing. This Dolly im sure is wonderful!
Imelda is just everywhere...
I paid $600+ to see Bette Midler play Dolly Levy and I'd pay it again to see this production!
So did I! Best $600 I ever spent!
I would certainly pay it to see Imelda.
Imelda Staunton was at Londons' Central School of Speech and Drama in the early 80s ...
If she can do Gypsey she can do anything. I would absolutely love to see her in this show.
If you have clips of “Just Leave Everything to Me” and “Love, Look in My Window,” would you please share them? I really want to see them. Thanks! 🙏🏻
I would love to see those with Imelda.
I would love to see Imelda act with her husband Jim Carter more often - he could play a great Vandergelder.
Iconic. 😊
Will they record it?
Professor Umbridge can SAAAAANNNNNGGGG!
Absolutely she can. She's incredible.
Bette Midler appeared in a critically acclaimed Broadway production of "Hello Dolly."
Who cares -- Imelda is the best ever.
Wow, I had no idea Dolores Umbridge could sing like that!
Look at her work on Sweeney Todd (her version was SUPER dark), Gypsy or Follies. She is AMAZING
I didnt know she could sing AT ALL 😅
@@amazingstarzza quick search on TH-cam is all that’s needed.
Dolores can't, but Imelda can and has always been able to. She's amazing.
We know u have a full recording of heathers OOBC don’t be shy share it 😉

Shortest cast I have ever seen.
There really is a 20 piece orchestra blimey could not see any guitars or keyboards down the pit tbf

You are wrong on all counts.
wow, I didn't know her majesty could sing like that! impressive! two observations though.....1: damn, that's a huge cast. and 2. why is that one chick wearing glasses? is this a diversity thing?
It’s called “playing a character”. Minney Fey - and the choice was she wears glasses. Diversity?
Or as the kid from Hogwarts screamed from an upper balcony, "Boooooo!"
Carol Channing was the Greatest Dolly.
Bette had a better voice and is a Star.
This woman is Old Hat.
WRONG. She's amazing. Carol's voice irritated the devil out of me - I hated it.

@@treesny - Streisand's Dolly was based on Mae West . Danny La Rue played Dolly too .
Streisand played lot of iconic roles. But as dolly she was a total miscast.
@@ulfk5667 - her singing alone was flawless ...

So glad you shined a light on Aurora!!! I have never seen so many videos I downloaded thanks to Aurora!!! Really keeps us in the Theatre loop!!
i thought it was a very interesting clip.
Abysmal post!
Sorry, just Dolores Umbridge attempting a brand makeover. Not fooled!
Imelda Staunton does not need a "brand makeover". She can perform anything and be perfection. You must be awfully wet behind the ears.
Made my ears bleed!
How rude and crass you are.
