This is just heartbreaking. He was not only one of the most talented performers of this or any generation, his volunteer and charity work was huge! He was always giving back. Rest in peace sir.
I saw Creel in this production and exactly cast. He was a vocally rounded and limpid Cornelius. His timing was marvelous. I remember being thrilled they cast such a solid singer in this often flaky role. There were many moments when he frankly stopped the show. This charming compilation will live on for all of those that saw him live or elsewhere. I for one was glad to have experienced his skill A truly fulfilling performer who actually harkened back to a time when musical theatre was delivered clearly without faking it or blurring the character around oneself. He embodied it and the make believe connected in the house. People die. Show people never really do though, even when they have. RIP
He never lost that wide eyed love for the musical theater, even years after he found true success. As genuine, gracious and nice as he was talented. It is truly a sad day for the theater world. RIP Gavin…
I saw the national tour of "Hello, Dolly!" with Ginger Rogers in 1967 at the age of 11. I already knew that I was gay, and I really wanted to believe that there could be a life for me out there somewhere, away from all the people who were trying to get me to believe terrible things about myself. So it's perhaps not surprising that my most vivid recollection of that performance is Cornelius singing to his best friend Barnaby about his faith in the existence of a town "Out there/ Full of shine and full of sparkle/ Close your eyes and see it glisten, Barnaby/ Listen, Barnaby . . . ." Gavin Creel, who gave the best rendition of "Put on Your Sunday Clothes" I have ever heard, would have understood that. May perpetual light shine upon him.
I honestly rarely feel this heartbroken by the death of a celebrity, but this man was so talented, so kind...it just isn't fair he needed to go through what he did and passing away so young. He had so many more years ahead of him...just heartbreaking
When I watch this I keep thinking "he is so beautiful", "he is so talented", "he is so sweet". My heart and brain doesn't want to think about him in the past tense 💔
I went to see “Hello Dolly” because of Bette Midler and David Hyde Pierce and fell in love with Gavin Creel’s magnificent voice and presence. His death is just heartbreaking.
When Angel Gavin Creel spread his arms, he gestured around. 1:00 I started crying. In my mind, he was sending so much joy out to the universe. I am so appreciative of this post!
This. This has broken me more than any celebrity death in so long. The outpouring of love from his community speaks love. There were very few like him - what a tragedy.
NO ONE sings this like Gavin. His voice is soooo smooth, resounding, and clear. I literally can’t find a single performance of this song who can hold a candle to Gavin. I get CHILLS every time he sings “Listen Barnaby!!”! I’ve rewatched this video dozens of times since it was uploaded and I can’t stop!
"It only takes a moment to be loved a whole life long." ❤️ Heartbreaking that his life was so short, he will be fiercely missed. The past week has shown that he was incredibly loved by so many. Rest easy, Gavin.
Life can be truly unfair sometimes. He was such an incredible talent, but also a genuine light. He had a pure, golden voice for Broadway and was so passionate about the craft. He will be sorely missed. RIP Gavin 😢❤
Gavin was the best of his generation. A true and glorious talent. I loved him every time I watched him on stage. He will be missed so deeply by our community. RIP you beautiful soul.
This news is shocking and devastating. Gavin Creel was the best in musical comedy. I had the absolute pleasure of seeing his delightful performance in Into The Woods in August, 2022. He was filled with energy and enthusiasm. He was taken far too soon. Thank you, Spiderwoman, for this lovely video. Gavin Creel will be greatly missed.
What a monologue. It has whole new meaning now at the news of his sad and tragic passing. But no one can say that they lived more in a moment than this talented lovely man. His voice and brilliance were healing things in a hard world and they will live on as a reminder that true beauty lives forever. Life is short but his life was amazing because he was amazing and his talent will continue on.
I met Gavin Creel when I was a freshman at Michigan and he was about to open in MILLIE. He came back for a master class and Q and A and he couldn't have been lovelier. As a performer he was so effortlessly likeable and the voice was peerless. What a stunning, profound loss. Thank you so much for posting this.
I had no idea he'd passed, it's early morning where I am - I just watched this smiling, assuming it was a random glorious Gavin Creel content. Met him in London many years when I was an anxious teen, he was so friendly. An extraordinary once-in-a-lifetime talent, what a loss
In tears watching this. The voice, the charm, the heart. The speech in the middle of the song is so hard to deliver and sound heartfelt, but he made it so funny and moving. “I’ll be a ditch-digger who once had a wonderful day.” You gave us all a wonderful life and inspired me. I can’t believe you had to leave us so soon, but thank you.
My heart is broken and I never knew him personally, just his unfathomable talent and performances. Thank you Gavin. I am so sad we don't get to enjoy more and more of your gift.
We saw this show, Gavin was so wonderful! He came out after for many waiting fans, he was the only one and he chatted with everyone briefly. Sweetest man, RIP. ❤
I still can’t believe he passed away he was so amazing in his roles and a Broadway acting legend no doubt he will be sorely missed R.I.P Tony Winner Gavin Creel
Wish I had seen Gavin Creel in Hello Dolly, but I did have the honor to be in the Marquis Theater for a performance of Thoroughly Modern Millie. There's something truly magical how theater and performers like Gavin connect us. My thanks and respect and sadness.
How I wish I could have seen this. I remember my friend who did said this cast was having the time of their lives ❤ I’m so sad we don’t get to hear Gavin’s beautiful voice anymore. But what a gift he was!
Hello Dolly was the first musical i saw on broadway and the first musical I acted in. Taylor Trench, Bernadette Peters, and Gavin Creel were phenomenal in this. This musical will always be special to me. Thank you, Gavin. Thank you for being part of my first broadway experience and thank you for helping create a generation of theater kids. "Isn't the world full of wonderful things!" - Cornelius Hackl, Hello, Dolly
I first saw Gavin Creel in the Eloise movies. I later watched clips from his stage performances such as She Loves Me and Thoroughly Modern Millie. Thank you for finding good moments of him in Hello Dolly. I always wanted to see more musical performance videos from him as his career progressed. Gavin left us too soon, RIP.
I never saw you live, but these authors couldnt of picked a more perfect actor to perform some of the most iconic roles in theater. A tony well deserved. Thank you Mr Creel
There are no words. He was a joy. I looked forward to many, many more wonderful warm performances of his. He will be missed. This is a wonderful video clip of his Tony winning role in Bette Midler's "Hello, Dolly." So lucky to have seen him in this.
This is so sad. I never got to see Gavin but would have loved to see him perform alongside Charlie in Hello Dolly as I know they would have been fantastic together and always heard Gavin was amazing in Mary Poppins. This recording is amazing. I’d love to see the whole show with these legends!
Thank you for putting together these superb moments from one of the finest, niftiest, terrific, magical performers that I ever saw on Broadway or anything else. I was planning the rest of my theatre going life around his next performance. Thankfully, he leaves behind an incredible body of work. It's all too sad.
It has been a while since I've cried because someone I never knew has died but my God this is so shocking. He was incredibly talented and I adored his work. I'm so sorry to hear this.
RIP Gavin Creel this part was perfectly awesome for you my friend Dustin did this role 2 years ago in a local civic theatre production of Hello Dolly! My friend Julie Pickett was Irene Molloy
Don't forget Thoroughly Modern Millie & Book of Mormon. I got his autograph during the Book of Mormon tour & told him I'd waited 10 years to see him in a show & he said "wow, that's a long time!" He was a delight at the stage door.
Inspiration to so many, including myself. I am now the goofiest and most fearless person on a stage because he lead the way. We’ll all miss you, Gavin. Who let this angel be taken so soon? 💔🕊️
He was a wonderful talented performer. I loved everything he did from the Eloise movies to his Bert in Mary Poppins in the West End to his brilliant turn in She Loves Me and to his joyful, funny and warm performance in Hello Dolly. I am gutted at this very sad sudden loss. Reply
Oh my god. Why? Why him? He was sucha a lovely human. What a wonderful life he had. I got my crush on him when i saw him in Millie. I saw him twice in Hello Dolly. He wa a doll. Im so sad.
This is just heartbreaking. He was not only one of the most talented performers of this or any generation, his volunteer and charity work was huge! He was always giving back. Rest in peace sir.

this is so frickin beautiful. see, this is why art exists. thank you for sharing your experience, beautiful human.
That constant smile when he was singing, is irreplaceable.
He once said that when he died, I wished to perform hair one last time in heaven. I hope he got his wish ❤️
I honestly rarely feel this heartbroken by the death of a celebrity, but this man was so talented, so kind...it just isn't fair he needed to go through what he did and passing away so young. He had so many more years ahead of him...just heartbreaking
You couldn't have said it better. 🕊🌈💔
Beautifully said, I am crushed. If there was anyone who deserved a long and beautiful life, it was this kind, compassionate, gloriously gifted man.
RIP to an absolute charismatic legend of this industry. This really does hurt. Take a bow, Gavin

HUGE talent. He’s there 110%. You can see it all up close here. Nothing held back.

Bravo, Gavin. Bravo.

It only took me a moment to fall in love with Gavin 🥺💔 His Cornelius will forever be iconic. He totally deserved that Tony.
