my IVF journey for cancer infertility: part one

  • on November 28th, I found out that my Hodgkin's Lymphoma relapsed. due to the relapse, I will have to do a stem cell transplant, which has a high chance of causing infertility due to the chemo received in the SCT process. my doctor highly encouraged me to go through IVF so I could have the opportunity to still have a baby one day. as a single, 24 year old gal - having babies was not on the brain right now. but, i'm so thankful for the time to do this before starting chemo, and the resources to be able to go through IVF.
wasn't able to film every single shot throughout the 10 days, but captured it as much as I could. the next vid will show my last few days (where I started not feeling well), my trigger shot day, and what I captured the day I got my retrieval.
the IVF journey is not easy at all, but I am truly grateful for the opportunity and the resources to be able to do it.
    thanks for watching.
    love, kam

I am so sorry that you have to through this again... I got Hodgkin's Lymphoma at 19 y/o in 2016 and had to do an egg retrieval. Then almost five years later I got a relapse and was treated with chemo and a stem cell transplant in April 2022. I just want to put it out there for you to give you hope that this will turn out good for you too. I am in remission since then. Go you, we're here along the way. Please, reach out if you want to talk

First of all… Go Dawgs. 💜 Second of all, good for you for taking control of your fertility and giving yourself options in the future! I’m sure literally none of this was on your 2023/2024 bingo card, but you’re handling it with such grace. I just think the world of you and you’re strong AF for administering those shots solo and for fighting this (really shitty) fight again. May it be the last time. Sending you love!!!

Thank you for sharing your experience! I went through IVF journey and chemo in 2023. It was stressful and I was worried that the eggs retrieval wouldn’t be successful. Everything was good at the end and it gives me so much peace of mind knowing that I have a plan B if my fertility was affected by chemo. I hope the best for you, you are a really strong girl!

Amazing, Kam! So happy to see you handling this added dimension with aplomb and your usual good humour. During my ABVD treatment I had to give myself injections of antibiotics (Covid times) - I remember the dread the first time I did it but you get the hang so quickly. Go Kam! ☺️✨

Kameron, you are doing such an excellent job in injecting those needles. It does sting, but you are doing so that you might have a baby some day.

as far as the bubbles, make sure the needle with the plastic cap is screwed on well to the syringe. also make sure the tip of the needle once you have pierced the vial is below the level of the liquid that your drawing up. but also at the end of the day even if you inject a little bit of air nothing bad will happen to you. it just gets absorbed by your abdominal tissue, good job!
