Theoretically we do. But when working on client bikes we usually charge one hour for every three we work. This is a non-profit organization. Just not on purpose.
How does the crankcase ventilation system work on the triumph. I don't see where it vents at. Any engine with positive pressure in it pushes oil out everywhere. The excessive smoking is also a symptom.

Pour the oil in before installing the bushing/ seal / gland nut. Leaving the top assembly in tact.
You could have slackened the jubilee clip and repositioned it to get the c spanner back in a workable space.
