    Great stuff Ken! That particular welsh plug is there so dirt doesn't end up in the carburetor (through the primer hose nipple -like the one you show) and under the inlet needle which would cause a leaky carburetor and possible FIRE, I was told that by a TECUMSEH factory school instructor back in the late 70's. I spent a week at the factory and learned a lot of sh*t!

    Great idea! Now if I can just cut the right diameter by using a hole saw and maybe do some intricate filing or grinding.

    Would counter sinking the hole on the block of wood works aswell kenny

    • @KensSmallEngineRepair
      @KensSmallEngineRepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      I didn’t want it to go too deep and collapse. With the wood the pressure of my tapping determines the depth of the concavity.

    Nice one Kenny boy do we really need it though? Seen so many aftermarket carbs on TH-cam with the welch plug missing, what is your opinion on this issue? To welch or not to welch that is the question! Even the Big Son will appreciate this one eh? Just commented on his latest about the butt being in the shot!

    • @KensSmallEngineRepair
      @KensSmallEngineRepair  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I see 50 percent of the Chinese carbs come through missing the Welsh plug so you do have a point, but they were put there for a reason, no? Why is there such a large well when a drilled hole would transfer primer bulb air pulses just fine?

    • @waynestefinashen239
      @waynestefinashen239 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@KensSmallEngineRepair You also present a very interesting question that may go down in the annals of history without being solved. I am not sure but it likely is a ratio issue of air volume to area volume to provide just the right amount so as not to flood the engine and foul the plug.

      @@waynestefinashen239 check out Don Mayberry’s comment that I pinned to the top of the comments. I think he’s right as the underside of the Welch plug was covered in dirt!

    How do you get the plug out in the first place without destroying it?

    • @KensSmallEngineRepair

      There is a vent hole on the perimeter that you can pry out the plug from
