My favorite thing about all might is that even after his "spiritual" death/retirement, he continued and continued to have direct influence on the story.
Honestly I feel like All Might should've died in the battle against All for One, because considering how the entire story so far is structured, he still would've been alive in the narrative. Almost every significant factor stems from All Might. Star and Stripe, Deku, Shigaraki, Stain, the League of Villains, entirety of hero society. Everything is ultimately tied to All Might. I'd have loved if he died in the battle, because we would constantly be getting callbacks to the man who shaped the verse.
I'm glad you mentioned the decline in the quality of pro heroes in MHA due to All Mights presence. They had a washing machine in their top 10 hero ranking for God's sake. I also like how we're shown the way so many "pros" outright quit or retire when the situation in Japan really starts to go downhill. It tells us that they weren't in the field for the right reasons
But pros were being harassed constantly in Japan. Why defend the people who outright hate you? Obviously a "true" hero would fight on, but most like real people wouldn't.

I'd say Gojo is my favorite of this type of character along with All Might and I think Kakashi counts? Idk. As long as they don't keep the show on them forever... The archetype is great.
I don't think kakashi fits the description, at least not for the entirety of Naruto. I would say the close thing we have to that within the story is hashirama
Yamamoto from Bleach comes to mind, at least in regards to complacency. It’s literally stated several times by characters like Yhwach that the Gotei 13 are a shadow of who they once were and it’s pretty much directly a result of Yamamoto slaughtering the quincies in the days of yore. Yamamoto himself even states that because he’s in the Soul Society, “There is no better security”. And it’s understandable as to why, as well. I mean with a Bankai that literally erases moisture from the atmosphere among other stupid broken feats he’s not called a monster or beast for nothing, terrifying old man.
Gojo and all might definitely have way different reasons for being the strongest in their respective universes and that has a profound effect on their personalities and the relationships they have with their peers and students. Gojo is definitely the darker and more stuck up character but at the end of the day he his the loneliest only because of his selfishness. All might is truly the antithesis of this personality while also filling the same role, which I think is really interesting.
I want to mention that Satoru Gojo did in fact take out Gato, it is literally a huge plot point in Season Two that it seems like Gojo didn’t kill Gato but later on it’s revealed that he did kill him, but the curse user took over his dead body.
I’d love to get your thoughts on the inner demon trope in fiction. It’s usually a pretty straightforward trope, where the demon is a means for the character to express feelings either they repress or society forces them too. (Eg Eren’s titan is a means to express his animalistic drive for freedom, Ichigo’s hollow is a means to get power and explore his desire to protect at the expense of his guilt, Naruto and black clover are kinda similar too, etc). JJK kinda flips it on its head since society and Sukuna try to make yuji repress his humanity for his desire to get strong and protect others but it’s due to Sukuna and the desire to overcome him that he wants to become stronger. There are probably more examples that explore and even break this trope and I’d love to hear your thoughts!
I enjoy both author’s depictions on what it means to be the strongest in their respective universes as well as the differences in their burdens. All Might is burdened with powerlessness in a literal sense as he is presence caused complacency and now that his power is being taken away from him the world is becoming more dangerous as evil has been waiting for this moment where the number 1 hero is no longer All Might. Gojo on the other hand isn’t literally powerless but more in regards to is agency. He is limited by the laws of the world he encompasses and his obligation forces him to sometimes do things he wouldn’t want to do. I don’t think anybody has ever talked about this before but both times when there’s a highly dangerous teenager taken in by Jujutsu Technical School the person we see interact with them first is Gojo. Yuta and Yuji both have almost the same exact interaction when being told about their execution. I don’t think this is the first time Gojo has done this either, it wouldn’t surprise me at all if Gojo had that conversation more than twice and likely delivered executions himself.
I think its interesting to think about this, the dangers of being more than a man- a god, a symbol. Like when all might leaves after becoming the symbol of peace and the main pillar of the hero world, crime goes up, regardless of the likelihood of getting caught, people associate things very strongly. its a good reminder not to rely too much on any one person or entity, which is important for corporate and government construction. Makes me want to write an opposite story, or the beginning impressions, what happens when one person is so powerful they disrupt the balanced world, instead of the balance lost when someone leaves, its the balance lost when someone arrives. of course, that's perceived as a good thing when heroes arrive, crime goes down. but think of all the businesses in place (like hero associations) that would go bankrupt when you have one guy doing the job of a hundred, and if the powerful one is sick for one day, there isn't anyone to fill his spot, everyone is out of practice. Basically, the message of the story would be that trying to save as many people as possible without considerations for how it would impact the industry and world, would hurt more people in the long run than it would save. kinda like the economy, the bigger and longer the spike in earnings, the worse the valley of losses.
I love The absolute Powerhouse / Strongest one Character architype because there's so much different things you can do with their narrative. All mights Symbol of Peace made other heros complecent. Gojos The pillar that supports the JJK world , forced the Cursed to grow stronger and more destructive. Levi's Humanities strongest soldier means that he always has to carry on the burden of the Dead. He always has to be the last one standing. Similar things can be said about Shin from 86,being always the sole survivor who everyone leaves behind. Saitamas own inner struggle because of his strength. I can keep ranting about all the other different direction this character type can be taken.
Your videos’ premises are so deep and you make it so easy to understand. It looks like you put so much work into them and it lowkey worries me cause I feel like you need breaks cause of how much you have to think about and the weight of those thoughts. Videos are great and you deserve time doing what you want, unless it is what you want. Then do yo thang
I would definitely choose Escanor : Dude calls himself "The One who stands above All the Others" and proved to be able to back this claim up in his verse !! But there's only one sit at the top of the pyramid, after all, and he finds it difficult to even relate to "beings beneath him", isolating himself from the rest because of both his power and his pride. Hell, the one woman he fell in love him finds his strength more fascinating that the man behind the sun. Even his death is done by his own strength literally burning him out. So, yes : as the likes of Saitama, he's the perfect example of both the blessing and curse of an overwhelming strength, in my book.
@@shounakdolase Undoubtedly but Escanor is a more arrogant/serious take on it which is just as fun to follow as Saitama constant cluelessness. Also, he's still kind of a simp for Merlin which I don't hate personally lol
Won't ramble about it here, but I think Mistborn has the best reverse of the strongest trope by making that character the main villain. It shows a world where a character like Sukuna or Sauron won, where there was never anyone strong enough to be the protector. I think it's worth a read if you're into these kinds of tropes.
Hey bro you probably won’t see this but please keep uploading content like this. You’re a hidden gem seriously. Eventually you’re gonna have another video pushed to ppls algorithm. Keep up the good work.
Eithan Arelius from the Cradle book series is this to a tee. A prodigy from childhood who left everyone else behind because of how much more powerful he was than his peers, who now focuses on being the mentor of a new generation of warriors (the main cast) to his level because "the path to power is a lonely one, but it doesn't have to be". We don't even see him fight all out until more than halfway through the series and when he does, it's something to behold.
I find characters that are secretly stronger than the main character really interesting. Characters like Xellos from Slayers, Sans from Undertale, where the strength of the character you never would have expected and it catches you off guard. Xellos definitely caught me off guard, especially because he isn't in every episode of the anine.
Humor me here, but do you guys think it would be unique to flip the script a bit and instead of symbols of peace, the strongest is a symbol of fear? I just wanted to bounce this idea around because the character/manga I am writing centers around this idea.
Nice video, but you gotta rewatch Karate Kid 2010 bc it's peak fiction 😤😤 Also, outside of anime my favorite portrayal of the "strongest" archetype has to be Ip man from the Ip man film (CLASSIC kung fu series) where he realizes that no amount of strength can solve the issues plaguing him, his family, and his country, and looks beyond simply beating his enemies to inspire and lead through example
I don’t think it was ever outright said in the show, but Gojo DID kill Geto at the end of JJK 0 He just didn’t dispose of his body (which incidentally allowed noritoshi kamo to take over his body) Think they alluded to this when they said something like, “you show respect at the most unreasonable times” But the point still stands, he didn’t dispose of the body even though he should’ve. Out of love and appreciation for his best friend, he just couldn’t do it.
I'm surprised you didn't mention Yujiro Hanma. I mean. He needs a shoutout at least. (I honestly think he is the inspiration of these two characters imo)
I was about to say the same thing. It has its flaws but Luke’s characterization makes him feel like he was just a young man that got caught up on stories and is disillusioned with what being the last Jedi really means. Also Rey being just a normal person with no special parents was great. That would have made her sayin I’m a skywalker feel more earned in the next movie.
I find it insanely funny how we get an unexpected rant about karate kid out of nowhere. I liked the movie, but I can barely remember anything about it.
Only half way through, but I believe gojos existence only caused complacency in the older sorcerers, while a fairly large amount of younger sorcerers strove to be on his level such as yuji, hakari, and yuta
Yamamoto is Him , I mean, when the dude was asked why he had no guards in his quarters, he said there is no need because he is there and when he stepped on the battlefield everyone felt his presence
I dont really like looking at superman from of the lens of "The Strongest" archetype since it beats his purpose which is to be the best humanity has to offer not only physically but morally
As strong as All Might is, just imagine how truly brokenly powerful he would have been if he had the ability to use the other quirks of One for All (namely gear shift and Fajin).
I’m going to say this completely blind in the sense that I am unaware of how well you receive criticism but I will start by saying I love the thumbnail for this video. I love the thumbnail for the previous video, but I don’t love the thumbnail for the one before the loopy versus Bellamy one but once more, I love the thumbnail for the one before that, and it’s not a coincidence that those ones are higher performers. The Luffy versus Bellamy one doesn’t match the style prevalent in the thumbnails that I mentioned I don’t know exactly what it is. I have an observed it too much but every time I see those thumbnails instinct is to click. It’s just something that resonates well with me I guess I don’t know. I’ll have to really observe it. I love this but but that’s a different point. My guess is you could’ve commissioned somebody to make that Luffy versus Bellamy so that’s why you have a bias and would prefer to keep it. I’m not saying this with any I will intent I feel the need to always preface the things I say with “I actually love your content” just in case I come off as harsh or mean 😂 I don’t wanna be some sort of weirdo, I’m just some guy rambling hoping I could help you out with the minimal amount of knowledge I have for content. we’re in a similar boat I believe same amount of subscribers too coincidentally
Bottom line. Good stuff I like your videos I’ve only seen 3. Being the ones thumbnails that I liked lol. It’s great stuff. I wanna do something like in the future for a different channel maybe. That’s way down the line though.
I feel like JJK definitely succeeded in showing Gojo’s humanity through how the position as the strongest affected him personally as a human being through stuff like his loneliness and isolation and the struggle of personal identity it brought while also having that obvious pressure of carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders. Didn’t so much feel that with All Might other than him struggling to find a purpose outside of being the Hero All Might as Toshinori Yagi
@wizardwolf1020 Yes majority of the story after all mights retirement is basically him watching the world fall apart, since he's not able to be a hero anymore the standards he set started to completely disappear, worse villains and bosses came out the shadows due to that, the series displays the teachers constantly reminding the kids of that fact and introduces alot more villians after season 3, All mights retirement even being a main motivater for Deku to work faster to master his power. it is objectively incorrect to say All Mights retirement did not effect him or the world of MHA, we also get the pay off to this plot point in season 6, where the villians completely wrecking the city completely destroys the little left over trust society had in the heroes, All might gone and the so called pro heroes unable to protect againts real threats it was a chekovs gun they put in our faces in the beginning of the series. Dont let ur bias for a character blind you to the similarities these stories have. Idk if you could tell but this video basically spells out what I just said too.
@@FueledByDarko ok but where is his introspection on how his choices ultimately affected him personally? Obviously he started having some regrets about the choice of becoming the Symbol of Peace (although Stain of course had to come along and put the blame on everyone else for not performing to the same standard he himself set by becoming the Symbol of Peace of his own volition) but at what point did he question the negative impacts of being the symbol of peace have on his personal life? Where does he lament how prioritizing being All Might left him a frankly sad, lonely old man who will only be remembered for being All Might and not Toshinori Yagi with little to no genuine friends and loved ones or care for him as Toshinori Yagi and not All Might? Does he ever question how he could relate to others as a person or hero despite the big differences or wonder how people could understand him despite the powerful Quirk he had. Yes, he saw how society fell apart without him but what about besides that?
@wizardwolf1020 You're doing alot of assuming. Because that shit is everywhere in the show after he retires, my hero academia is a series that shoves it's nuances down its viewers throats, introspection? Try the literal first episode where all might reveals his true form to deku and informs him of his state and how he doesn't truly smile, he fakes his bravery and is constantly feeling unworthy, All might already comes to terms with how being a hero effects his personal life, the bare fact that he disregards his safety completely in order to fight cuz he knows he is the only one who can actually win, being the literal only hero in Japan who was able to single handedly lower the crime rate and put the entire progression of Japan's heroes into arrested development due to being so strong all the heroes became lazy stupid and reluctant, after he retires he fully feels the peace he built completely shatter, talking to eraser head about how unworthy he feels, and how he is unaware of how to keep teaching the students, eraser head tells him that yes suddenly being forced to retire doesn't help at all, he still needs to live for his students, this point is further expanded on in season 6 when the city is destroyed all might in his weak form stands in the middle of rubble holding dekus destroyed mask is confronted by stain, all might wines at him telling him he doesn't feel worthy and he isn't the teacher he thinks he can be, stain grabs him and reminds him that his heroism 100% still lives within the people he taught and raised, that the new generation is already very inspired to fix the world because of all mights presence, very similar to how gojo inspires the next generation of sorcerer's simply by being present, except Gojo is killed from his role in the story, all might is forced to completely live in a body that should be long dead and watch as his work is destroyed in front of him, only to come to terms with that darkness and into fully focus on making sure the new generation is happy and fired up. Those are examples of moments where all might lements the effect of being the symbol of peace in his personal life, To ask those questions is to insinuate you have not payed attention to my hero academia or all might, this series is annoyingly stuffed with introspection plus they use the "Show don't Tell" rule in writing for all mights downfall as well, I recommend rewatching the series. It's ridiculous to agree that the series didn't show All Mights humanity, the fact that you are aware that the power left him lonley and friendless is proof that this aspect is shown. Did you also forget Sir Nighteye? His sidekick who completely left side? All might recklessly decalred he will keep fighting after an old deadly battle with AFO, sir nighteye used his future foresight on all might and straight up told him he is going to die grusomely if he keeps being a hero, all might disregards that and walks away, making nighteye decide to quit. Another example of a bridge all mights position forced him to burn, Verbatim collum by collum all might experiences what you wrote in your first comment, the loneliness of having to keep your power secret and having to push away those who care too much, struggle of personal identity, being a man who says in episode 1 that he fakes his smile to keep on a fake display, and keep himself from getting close to people, and him being number 1 literally put all of Japan on his shoulders, retiring literally crumbles Japan off his shoulders. It's all there bro
I want to make a manga in future. And I take so many notes from your videos that i had to buy 2nd notepad. So I need to fill it again 😅 So can you make a video about perfect antagonist? Its really complicated topic. Everybodies idea is more different and unique than others which i dont bother. I really like the "perfect" antagonist model is not one single model. You can get some critical informations about each antagonist model. So I want to take your opinion about antagonists. Thanks.
I dont think anyone fits 'the strongest' archetype better then gojo, especially how gege depicts how it effects gojos life. He is literally unsure of who he is just because hes the strongest
I always had this similar thought, especially when watching Boruto. They wasted the strongest archetype which is Naruto that fans has resonate so much for years. I dont mind they using Sasuke as a mentor for Boruto bcs he is also a strongest archetype but the narrative didn't went well in my opinion. They really could do better. With better narrative, they really could bring up Boruto as a new hope without nerfing naruto and sasuke, or discredit them as a big hero in their universe like i feel they did
I hope you read this comment. In your perfect protagonist video, why wasn't Tanjiro from demon slayer included? He fits all the characteristics you described perfectly. If you haven't watched the anime, I would request you to please watch it. A simple reply would suffice.

The fact I watch and read both of these, and have never noticed these parallels and similarities, is absolutely insane.
UNDERRATED COMMENT!!! The reminder to not depend on one human too much is so true! And your thoughts on implications of such are thought-provoking.
I love The absolute Powerhouse / Strongest one
Character architype because there's so much different things you can do with their narrative.
Videos are great and you deserve
time doing what you want, unless it is what you want. Then do yo thang
I think Sinbad from Magi is a great example of "The Strongest" out there in animanga
Had to pull up! Never seen a bad video from you. Please continue
Bro these videos are hidden gems
DON'T KEEP EM HIDDEN!!! SHARE WITH YOUR FRIENDS AND FAMILY!!!⭐
Keep these gems coming man
I would definitely choose Escanor : Dude calls himself "The One who stands above All the Others" and proved to be able to back this claim up in his verse !!
Saitama is the simplest and most valid example of that
@@shounakdolase Undoubtedly but Escanor is a more arrogant/serious take on it which is just as fun to follow as Saitama constant cluelessness.
Also, he's still kind of a simp for Merlin which I don't hate personally lol
@@Kaito57 oh yeah lol 😂
The parrallels between MHA and JJK are honestly crazy if you think about it
Won't ramble about it here, but I think Mistborn has the best reverse of the strongest trope by making that character the main villain. It shows a world where a character like Sukuna or Sauron won, where there was never anyone strong enough to be the protector. I think it's worth a read if you're into these kinds of tropes.
Hell yeah, the goat is back with another banger of a video
Amazing as always! Top tier editing and just all around good content.
The hftf in the start of the video is just 👌
He wasnt trying hard enough? “ I HATE IT HERE I WANNA GO HOME”
I always see Gojo and All Might as the training wheels for the main character in the beginning
Another Johnny Star video, so another banger as always
Who is your favorite "strongest" character in fiction?⭐
Gojo honestly fits the category pretty perfectly.
Definitely not Luke from the sequals...
Go D. Ussop
Hanma Yujiro
Bro where is your merch take my money sir!
TH-cam didn't recommend your video when it was released
But thank for another amazing video Johny
LETS GOOO JOHNNY DROPPED
I find characters that are secretly stronger than the main character really interesting. Characters like Xellos from Slayers, Sans from Undertale, where the strength of the character you never would have expected and it catches you off guard. Xellos definitely caught me off guard, especially because he isn't in every episode of the anine.
Humor me here, but do you guys think it would be unique to flip the script a bit and instead of symbols of peace, the strongest is a symbol of fear? I just wanted to bounce this idea around because the character/manga I am writing centers around this idea.
Yes it would be cold as shit
That's kinda like Batman.
Just awesome as always! It's a good day when you post 😄😄
1:50 missed opportunity, imo. if you let all might say his “watashi ga kita” line it would’ve been so cool. fire vid regardless though bro
LOVED the video. Until he mentioned Luke....pretty sure that's kinda universally hated. Anyways, loved the comparison!
Another amazing video!!
Gold d Roger def up there and hashirama too but I admire what this video had to say
Love ur channel, dont give up!
This video deserves more views!
He was cooking till he mentioned the sequel trilogy.
Nice video, but you gotta rewatch Karate Kid 2010 bc it's peak fiction 😤😤
Also, outside of anime my favorite portrayal of the "strongest" archetype has to be Ip man from the Ip man film (CLASSIC kung fu series) where he realizes that no amount of strength can solve the issues plaguing him, his family, and his country, and looks beyond simply beating his enemies to inspire and lead through example
Amazing video!
I don’t think it was ever outright said in the show, but Gojo DID kill Geto at the end of JJK 0
He just didn’t dispose of his body (which incidentally allowed noritoshi kamo to take over his body)
Think they alluded to this when they said something like, “you show respect at the most unreasonable times”
But the point still stands, he didn’t dispose of the body even though he should’ve. Out of love and appreciation for his best friend, he just couldn’t do it.
i think all might is the best “strongest” character
Great video, you're too underrated!
I'm surprised you didn't mention Yujiro Hanma. I mean. He needs a shoutout at least. (I honestly think he is the inspiration of these two characters imo)
How do you have so few subs? This was amazing quality, i thought you had at least like 500k, i will definitely sub.
goat trigger reference😭😭😭🙏🏿🙏🏿 0:29
Wait, Johnny Star actually likes The Last Jedi ?
Fuck yeah ! This movie's awesome and I'm not afraid to say it
I was about to say the same thing.
"You can become a hero"
Chills fr
Johnny Star steps in the game and starts changing it
Only half way through, but I believe gojos existence only caused complacency in the older sorcerers, while a fairly large amount of younger sorcerers strove to be on his level such as yuji, hakari, and yuta
Johnny you're my favorite anime TH-camr 🙏Please make a re:zero video it's one of my favorite anime
Yamamoto is Him , I mean, when the dude was asked why he had no guards in his quarters, he said there is no need because he is there and when he stepped on the battlefield everyone felt his presence
Nice video ✌️
You gotta make a vid about yoriichi tsugikuni
Peak as always
I dont really like looking at superman from of the lens of "The Strongest" archetype since it beats his purpose which is to be the best humanity has to offer not only physically but morally
As strong as All Might is, just imagine how truly brokenly powerful he would have been if he had the ability to use the other quirks of One for All (namely gear shift and Fajin).
this is a good video
glad i found this video
I think its because we never really see them lose
The br plug is crazy
I feel like JJK definitely succeeded in showing Gojo’s humanity through how the position as the strongest affected him personally as a human being through stuff like his loneliness and isolation and the struggle of personal identity it brought while also having that obvious pressure of carrying the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Didn’t so much feel that with All Might other than him struggling to find a purpose outside of being the Hero All Might as Toshinori Yagi
It's actually almost the same exact thing for all might, except he was forced to slowly watch everything be built burn down in front of him
@@FueledByDarko not really.
So I need to fill it again 😅
So can you make a video about perfect antagonist? Its really complicated topic. Everybodies idea is more different and unique than others which i dont bother. I really like the "perfect" antagonist model is not one single model. You can get some critical informations about each antagonist model. So I want to take your opinion about antagonists. Thanks.
The karate kid rant was great😭
My two goats in 1 videos? My schizo brainrot vs My inspiring heroism
HERE WE GO👀
Yoooo this is sick
This video reminded me of how good my hero was, thank you
Gojo actually DID kill Geto, where he messed up was leaving the body where it laid, unable to properly dispose of him
World Trigger mentioned 🙌🏾
I dont think anyone fits 'the strongest' archetype better then gojo, especially how gege depicts how it effects gojos life. He is literally unsure of who he is just because hes the strongest
I already know it’s 🔥
What music is played in the background?? It adds so much aura to the video im in love
Specifically the end of the “symbol of peace” section
Great video
Gojo did kill Geto in JJK0, he just didn't send his corpose to shoko (to be cremated)
Throughout Heaven and Earth I alone am: 4:29
I always had this similar thought, especially when watching Boruto. They wasted the strongest archetype which is Naruto that fans has resonate so much for years. I dont mind they using Sasuke as a mentor for Boruto bcs he is also a strongest archetype but the narrative didn't went well in my opinion. They really could do better. With better narrative, they really could bring up Boruto as a new hope without nerfing naruto and sasuke, or discredit them as a big hero in their universe like i feel they did
Noice take❤❤
Low key levi from aot too
I'm just gonna leave a bunch of comments for the algorithm
you're doing gods work!!!!
I hope you read this comment.
In your perfect protagonist video, why wasn't Tanjiro from demon slayer included? He fits all the characteristics you described perfectly. If you haven't watched the anime, I would request you to please watch it. A simple reply would suffice.
Karate kid is peak stop hateing
The random Jaden Smith slander💀
sinbad from magi is THE definition of the strongest
You had a perfect video until you a started trssh taking karate kid 😭
