I think you need to repeat this experiment with strangers. The gut instinct is being skewed by their perceived knowledge of the individual people performing the tasks. If they didn’t know the people there would be no ability to predict as opposed to guess
This is fun but its definitely just guessing. Especially telling them at the start they did a video for each decision its just a guess which vid they show.
This is the comment i came looking for.
And without options until the end
I believe that's the point
My thoughts to.
They should redo this experiment with strangers or they should do something completely else where you don't just guess between 2 answers.
Should have given the options after the clip, it’s hard to test “gut instinct” when you spend the whole clip looking for clues.
ooh thats a good idea
yeah this wasn't scientific at all...but then again this show is supposed to be funny not accurate
True, I didn't think of that!
This would be 10000% better if the people were strangers. Rhett and link know the crew!
but it makes for a funnier episode this way. They don't want it to be too scientific
And those strangers were buying their kids fast food???
They still didn’t do that great lol
Link should always do the opposite of what his gut tells him
@@DrewDawkinsno
Rhett isn't using his gut in this whole episode, he's just looking for clues as to what people are going to do. 😆
Exactly
Thats basically what guts is though
@@AwesomeNuke No it's not
@@LordManhattan
Lol
And the one time link listened to his gut he then changed his answer
Filming both options and then asking them to choose based on their gut instinct of personal knowledge of that person negates the effects of the experiment. It is based on the random choice of which video was presented to them, not their gut instinct of what they know about each subject of the videos.
True
so true. also i think it should have been random clips instead of the crew because they already know them and can respond based on assumptions instead of their gut instinct in that moment
I agree
Let's be fair, when has gmm ever been scientifically accurate?
This is what I was thinking too. Lol. If they did BOTH options it's just chance.
Rhett should’ve overcaffienated for this episode. They should try it again with Rhett overcaffienated and see if he gets them all right.
he'd be able to tell you everything about them before seeing who it is 🤣
I think this was flawed because of the fact that you did do both options.
If everyone went in knowing they would only have one chance to do one of the two options it would have been better.
Like you only have one chance to put the axe in the head thats what you're going to do.
I agree, I would've told them by the end of the game that there were two options.
but then arent all the answers going to be the more exciting ones?
Agreed :P
it would actually be interesting to see them ACTUALLY recreate the original experiment they referenced.
I think having done both options, and TELLING Rhett and Link what is about to happen, taints the experiment. 😢
Absolutely 💯
yeppp
They kinda have to do that though.
Not to burst anyone bubble (I love the show), but isn’t this “experiment” obsolete because not only are the people in the video told what to do (it’s not their actual choice) but they also do both choices.
It wasn’t an experiment, it says challenge in the title for a reason xD
@@caffe1n8ed it says experiment in the title. They often adjust title and thumbnail after publishing.
exactly
@@scavengertag wonder when then changed that
How does that matter? In the lead-up, the person already knows what they're going to do, so (according to the hypothesis), any clues for the subconscious mind to pick up on are going to be present.
The irony of the bottle round was that Link changed his answer instead of going with his first gut instinct answer, which is what we've been telling him to stop doing for years 🤣
I know, right??? 😆
introducing options means there is no "gut instinct" at play - since you're looking for reasons to support one or the other - simply guessing or looking for logical outputs of the situation. gut instinct should be a simple "What happens next (based on information you see and/or have)"
This makes sense! I imagine that’s why in the original experiment the outcomes were only 1) drink or 2) pour. There is no consideration of what may be more interesting, so the gut instinct may be stronger. There aren’t any stakes
Agreed ! this was bothering me as well
I agree with that. It does make you look for clues as to what they might do, I felt that the options did take away gut instinct as well. Now, if you were presented with a scene and you were asked what the person might do and then you answered with your own idea, I think that would be more of a test of gut instinct
They were trying to make it more fun but it tainted the experiment. I think they needed to pick either do something silly or accurately run the experiment. (In the later case, we would all still watch b/c Rhett and Link by themselves is entertaining.)
And that's why scientific studies are conducted by experts... they just didn't think this through, no method no reason no significant outcome- it could have been such a cool video
Oh God. The last part is flash backs to the game grumps summer episode. Still one of my absolute favorites
I watch the video often because watching Dan continually get more and more disheartened and Arin get happier and happier is so unbelievably funny to me.
What episode is that?
@@brittamorgan6584 The Game Grumps playing the Mario Quiz game during good mythical summer
I still go back to watch Dan's suffering 😅
Such a classic
16:30 Let's take a moment to appreciate all those watching who don't understand that reference and are very confused as to why Link just said that so casually
I'm trying to think if they're is a pun? But fish don't have horns, I'm so confused. 😭
was it a post malone reference cause that would be stupendous 😂
Yall watch the GMMore that came with the most recent Smelling Bee episode, that’s where the reference comes from
@@arrireadytoparty it was also in the recent Post Malone episode but it came from before that.
Bruh I thought everyone was glossing by the fact that he said that 💀💀
You can see link is actually frightened before stepping inside so I think it wasn't a gut decision it was him being afraid of Lucas😂
You can also see the employee holding the string shorten it, cause the bucket with the fish guts requires more strength.
I chose to believe it was his gut to take the hit for some one he loves and not let them get hit with the bad thing.
Links gut is being a loving guy.
Even when Rhett loses, he still wins 😂😂
GMM, please bring back the "pain hole"!! It's been a few years and it's still hilarious to go back and watch that episode.
For some reason I thought about this episode too when I began this one, it was soooo funny
One of the best episodes ever
If gut instinct is partially based on experience, it makes sense Rhett and Link had the same on so many! They've shared so many experiences together.
Link convincing himself that his gut response was actually his brain to justify switching his answer to what was actually his brain’s reasoning all along was a saga.
I think was Link was horrified of disagreeing with Rhett on this episode. He seemed to be more concerned about aligning with Rhett than trying to get the right answer
Would love to see a gut gut check, having to trust your gut to make a split second decision between two plates of food, one bad one tasty.
you can tell when link is actually not using his gut instinct and 90%of the time he should've
I cant tell
Gooooooood mythical morning!
Never gets old
I think they would have gotten them right if the crew was told to do whichever they wanted instead of filming each option.
Yep
Link is really sporting that"Bride of Frankenstein" look today.
Gotta feel bad for Link. Every time he gets cocky about winning, it backfires. 😂
Honestly, I think these would've been better if you didn't have the video before they made their choice. You can show it after of course, to confirm whether they're right, but personally, I chose before the video every time and that gut reaction was way faster and I think more accurate.
Yes! I chose as soon as she gave the choices, and I was right most of the time.
that's literally just random choice lol
Same
@@chumuheha but that is kind of the point. You are testing your gut vs random chance. To see which is more accurate
Looking at this experiment through a scientific view there are a lot of flaws going into how the experiment was conducted. That being said, if it were conducted in that way it wouldn't have been as entertaining.
I dont think that having two takes of each situation you can really predict the scenerios that well... your gut may tell you the option based on individual. Just my 2 cents
link is sooo cute with his facial expressions and rhett is just funny af
I'm so glad it was link that got it at the end. His reactions to gross stuff are always absolutely classic.
This episode was inspired by Link and his frustrating "technique" of changing his initial correct answers, wasn't it?
The rules have to be modified all the time to appease Link or he will throw a temper tantrum. It is what it is!
Rhett: Why do I feel like I'm gonna vomit?
Can relate, because ✨anxiety✨
I really appreciate Rhett mentioning therapy in a very casual way! It helps break the stigma that men can't/shouldn't be emotional and should deal with their emotions themselves. Hopefully this made at least one male identifying person, or really anyone realize that therapy is a normal, healthy thing that you shouldn't be ashamed of!
Leave it to Link to somehow overthink a test about gut instinct.
Neither did great. People always say how good Rhett's rational thinking is-this disproves it.
It takes me forever just to decide what I want for dinner 🤣😂 A rapid choice for me may not end well 🤣
🇺🇦🇺🇦❤️🔥
snap hehe
hm, interesting. I got all of them right and felt pretty certain about all of them except for the bottle. i wonder if the fact that Rhett and Link personally know the subjects influenced their decisions.
Link's Richard Nixon impersonation with fish guts on him is amazing
this was a fun episode - the audience could interact along!! Really liked it
Hahahahaha Rhett looked so concerned before the buckets were tipped 😂😂
Even If link wins he loses. That’s what I’ve concluded in the 6 years I’ve been watching these two😂
When Link switched his answer from break to tuck, I was his guts changing his answer. He was thinking tuck but his guts changed the answer. He got it reversed.
i love your experiment videos. you mix psychology and comedy well
Even when Link wins, he still loses
This was fun and I love seeing y’all interact with the crew members
This is the new "gut check" 😂 😂
Links face when Stevie said: “Will Katelyn smash the bottle over Lucas’s head.” was hilarious.
I agree that they needed to do this with strangers because they’re using solely their knowledge of the staffs’ personality to make their guesses. I also feel like having the crew do fake outs negatively impacts the experiment and makes it pretty much impossible to go on gut instinct
16:50 that's a pretty good Nixon impression.
Rhett has a lion mane going on, while Link is rocking the crazed mad scientist hair.
they look awesome 😍
Standing under the bucket, I guess we could say Link felt utterly….GUTTED 😂😂😂
The way he hold that rope is the best way to identify whos about to pull the fish guts hahaha. Guts is heavier than confetti hahahaha
Yeah, Lucas was barely holding the rope at all
i love this intro so much it's sooo chill
Link has anxiety and so do I and it makes it hard to have a gut feeling lol
I agree. I’m always second-guessing my choices.
WE NEED MORE LIKE THIS OMGGGG PLSSSS
waitt I actually got all of these right but one, including the confetti. I feel the need to do something with this new superpower I've just discovered.
always learning about myself when watching GMM😂
I did the exact same thing! Every video (besides one) and the confetti right. Only thing I missed was the pie on chase.
I missed two. One of them being then, ast one, lol. I would have been covered in guts, lol. Other one I missed was the Pie one.
I only missed the one with the bottle😂
@@nathangeerts2578 same. that one was pretty confusing.
Links confidence at the end was so great
I truly hope Chase waking up in shock to the air horn was a genuine reaction
The discontent on Rhett’s face before the bucket dump was hilarious😂
Including the fish bucket, I was correct 6/9 times!
I think they should've made buttons for that (or anything other than speaking... also maybe in a way they can't see each other), Link is always a few milliseconds behind and instinctively tries to copy Rhett, makes this experiment flawed, but I think the idea is really nice for more episodes and I'd love to see more!
Rhett would do much better if he didn’t watch the videos. His gut is actually insane a lot do the time. He has amazing intuition. He should just answer right after Stevi asks the question
Man gmm never gets old
Whoaa; I agreed with them both, or just Link, every single time! IDK; I feel like the crew making the videos is the reason the experiment didn't work, not Rhett and Link!
This should be done with strangers and there should be no option given as to what the person is about to do. They should watch a 10 second clip of somebody doing things and then be asked what they think is going to happen next. It shouldn't be something random like "Oh a gorilla runs into the frame and blows an air horn"
It should be something that your subconscious can have a chance at predicting. "Gut" instinct is simply your subconscious analyzing the situation and feeding your conscious mind the info instead of you being aware and actively thinking and analyzing.
Earliest I’ve ever watched this and I’m going on almost 8 years of watching this amazing show!! Hope everyone stays their mythical best!
@no u yeet
@no u ya yeet
The irony of Link winning the gut instinct game when he needs a reference chart for gut check episodes.
*Link and Rhett, thanks for that psychology experiment I never thought I needed this week !!*
Finally! Episodes that aren’t just them tasting food
Omg there should be a seltzer gut check! With like la croix or aha seltzers!!
they did a la croix taste test years ago, but i think they have a more positive opinion of la croix now. plus they didn’t taste the tall skinny cans (like cherry limeade), so i’d love to see an updated taste test!
@@snowpetalss I thought I saw it somewhere but I looked through there gut checks and it wasn’t there lol that’s why! But I still think I need a ranking better ranking and updated test!
Link won yet he still lost. 😂😂
I was not a fan of this episode until the ending. Kudos!
so so funny when link just doesnt say anything hahaha
You know your sleep schedule is f*ked when you get a notification for a new GMM episode and you haven’t even gone to sleep yet
1:33 Hahahaaa that's hilarious. The slight pause and perfect answer.
You could tel he had the fish guts because of how he was holding the cord. You can easily reset confetti. There's only one try with fish guts. Make sure no one trips over the slack.
....So this is basically the Jojo ~to be continued~ meme but with science.
"You don't know what you've got until it's blown" - Link Neal. Truer words have never been spoken. 😂😉
"From now on I'm not gonna think at all."-Link Neal 2022
Bless him.
Let me recommend a Idea
They should definitely Ask The Age Old Question By doing a Will It Fireball Whiskey? Taste Test
Rhett and Link taste some weird Fireball Whiskeys made directly from Mythical Chef Josh.... 😋😋
the fact that im sipping on some fireball rn makes this comment so strange LMAO
the two of them discussing their logic together was somehow so endearing
Every morning like a treat, love you guys. Have a great day❤️
BYMB
Heck ya ❤️💯
Seeing Link just get so over confident only to epically fail at the end is GMM at its best XD
Congrats to everyone who is early and found this comment! 🙌
Have a nice day!
LOVED THIS EP
The fact that this video is exactly 18 minutes is incredibly satisfying 💚
I see it as 17:59 lol
@@vikingthedude same
nooo., its 17:59 !!
ands thats the ick for me
omg link's peace sign jazz hands at the end, too funny 😂
The confetti still falling as
Rhett is radiating happiness bc he doesn’t have guts on him is so jokes 💀
best video to be uploaded on my bday
Even when Rhett loses he wins hahaha
I loved this one! Genuinely made me laugh like the good ol’ days of early GMM
Rhett is continuously making weird noises throughout this episode, like I’ve never heard before, and I love it.
Chase jumping up when Mikaela hit the blow horn was priceless
GMM Episode Idea
I want to see if they can get
Bobby Flay on the show
And see how well Josh does against Bobby Flay in a Cooking competition Taste Test
Josh VS Bobby Flay
Which food will Rhett and Link like better
International Darts.
Link's Gut: "Listen to me! you'll win!"
Link's Brain: "No, no! listen to me i do all the thinking here all your gut does is help dissolve your food! Listen to me!"
I Love Rhett And Link One Of My Favorite TH-camrs.

If you can immediately explain in detail why you made a decision, you definitely didn't use your gut to make it 😂
Let's w a moment to appreciate how much effort he puts into his contact to entertain,,
Changing up the stakes for the last segment was a brilliant idea
3:50 How did you guys fall for that slight axe raise?
When link intro’s “can we trust our guys?” I DESPERATELY wanted The to say, “or just spoil the beans” because of the smelly episode 😂
