Yup yup... It's similar to being afraid of the dark. Back when we were living in caves and all, the dark meant you couldnt see predators lurking, no fire... So it's embedded in our genes as humans to be afraid of it
I'm from Canada, I have coulrophobia and have had it since I was two. Pop culture had nothing to do with it. I can now watch things with clowns in it, but under jo circumstances can I be near a person dressed as a clown.

I have to admit I have a extreme version of Acrophobia. I had a panic attack on a Farris Wheel. I can’t even go on a small ladder without getting wobbly.
There's one aspect that they kept on ignoring and it messed them up greatly. These are phobias not simple fears. These are irrational by definition. They keep debating which one is a more common fear but discussing it as though it's a simple fear rather than a great irrational fear.
I believe the percentage of Mythical Beasts who struggle with agoraphobia is probably noticeably-higher than that of the general population. It's a destination for folks who, for reasons that vary, may not be able to physically engage with their actual community. But, that's just a loose hypothesis:)
I'm beginning to wonder if my need to be very prepared for unknown situations is due to me having agoraphobia; perhaps my thinking this is actually me being a hypochondriac. I should ponder on this more.
