I am Chinese and I am a bit enraged when I hear this. I typically mute sound when play as China. It also bothers me that they used the SAME song of 茉莉花 for two generations of a great game. True that the song is popular in OVERSEA Chinese population, but they only represent a small fragment of southern Chinese. How shallow it is to not recognize this fact. This song is not even that old and only became popular in Late Qing Dynasty, it hardly fits a ruler who lived about two millennium ago. Seriously any pick from countless great ancient Chinese folk songs can represent Chinese civilization better. /End salt.
Lunarsong Sirohane The British theme is from a song popularised only in the late sixties and is still beautiful, despite being about a tiny village I did not know about despite living in England. The Greece theme has been repeated, and for two civs in one game: Pericles and Gorgo and yet is still as powerful as when I first heard it (especially after hearing it's the oldest full song on earth about a man, Seikilos I think, and a message to his dead wife.) Just think of it as it's own amazing adaptation of the song!
If you want authenticity, don't play this game - short of the USA being able to build the 'great wall'. The name also "CHINA" doesn't exist in the ancient era so you're now going to get offended by that? How about lets all get offended at the fact the geographical location is wrong on the maps and "as a Chinese" you are going to get offended. Oh wait its also offensive that the instruments are wrong, or the other hundreds of things that are 'inaccurate'.
No, my friend. I didn't mention a thing about authenticity. I am not pleased because they recycle (if not abuse) this folk song. I think "misrepresented" is the better word to describe my problem with this soundtrack. Qin Shi Huang's reign was too ancient so maybe it's hard for game-maker to find music that suits him (Same can be said to many other leaders). As a Civ fan I am tolerant to "XXXX was build in far away land" just as other players. My rant is purely about the music.
As an Asian myself, I can categorically say that it's only Asians who could be this petty about something like this. Be happy your culture is even in the game. Not all of us get the chance. You reveal your stupidity when you claim the song represents a portion of Southern China only- any song made to represent China would have the same problem considering how diverse China is. You don't see the Russians or the Indians whining about their themes representing only one ethnic group/language/region whatever.
For anyone not in the know, the song is based off 茉莉花(Jasmine Flower), a very popular folk song/nursery rhyme

@@pmsilent But he still kept one (and ONLY one) copy of every book he get his hands on.
Awesome music! But WHY does the emperor look like a bearded Pepe the Frog?
Because all Civ 6 leaders are caricatures of themserlves.
这音乐佩的,比中国人还中国人
现在的美国人以为自己玩的是科技胜利和文化胜利,然而实际上玩的是统治胜利,中国人以为自己玩的是科技胜利,其实是分数胜利🤣🤣

@account that made in Korea no, he does not understand that there was a better government before the communist government (i am a socialist and i cant even stand to call mainland China a communist government). He thinks Taiwan is an rebel island and a fake China. He rly needs some more education..

Love Korea 🇰🇵 from China!
Add Mao in civ 7

account that made in Korea and use some epic Chinese communist music
account that made in Korea very true but epic meme
He was in Civ IV
I saw some angry CHINESE pissed off because of a video game using famous CHINESE folk music for a CHINESE leader, funny. Would be funny if civ7 uses Chinese national theme as BGM and every Chinese mainlander will be happy. LUL
qwer4790 lol I bet you see all sorts of people online everyday, haters ain't rare at all.
Yes plz communism theme
haha This guy must be a hater
@account that made in Korea then you know nothing about Chinese culture.
@account that made in Korea Yeah, but do you know what he had done to make China better ? no, you don't . You just heard them telling you the one thing that seems bad done by Mao and you assume he's bad. History is not that simple ,kid
Look at those salty Americans downvoting this.
Dragonknight wat
See how the music video for America/England and others have no downvotes? Then you look at Arabia/China. I wonder why...
Dragonknight Because youtube? Feels like a stretch to call 3 downvotes a bunch of salty Americans.

China in reallife 💀 china in games😎
brejeiro is better :/
i thought he was japanese 🚶♀️
You can always mod it out and replace it with 秦颂 :D
As an Asian myself, I can categorically say that it's only Asians who could be this petty about something like this.
Be happy your culture is even in the game. Not all of us get the chance. You reveal your stupidity when you claim the song represents a portion of Southern China only- any song made to represent China would have the same problem considering how diverse China is. You don't see the Russians or the Indians whining about their themes representing only one ethnic group/language/region whatever.
