    As a 43 year old woman who was in high school in the 90’s, do not….I repeat. DO NOT go the skinny brow route!!!!! I was one of the lucky few who grew all of my brows back but plenty of girls did not!!!! Don’t ruin your eye framers for a trend that’ll be dead, done, and over with in a few years.

      40 years old here, thankfully my brows are naturally not very thick so when I was plucking in the '90s I only was cleaning up around the edges a tiny bit, I can't imagine what it would have been like permanently changing my face because I didn't know that the brows wouldn't grow back in

    As a 57 year old woman who has seen 100s of trends come and go......stick with what works for you, tweak it now and again so you don't become stagnant, and be YOU, not someone else! The "trend" of everyone jumping on the bandwagon and looking like Stepford wives shouldn't be a trend!

      If anyone needs an extra vote (54 here), here's mine. Also, what's *under* your makeup is at least as important as the makeup itself! Don't pluck your brows, unless, of course, you enjoy drawing them on and are ok with doing so for the rest of your life.

    I'm 58, and I stopped powdering under my eyes a couple of years ago. The skin under my eyes has gotten thin, and powder, no matter how lightly applied, causes the skin to look crepe-y. I use a hydrating concealer and set it with setting spray on a sponge instead. It works for me! ~Anastacia in Cleveland

      I’m 55 and finally figured out using loose powder to set my face does not work anymore with all of my fine lines and, dare I say, wrinkles. I started using moisturizing face primer on top of my moisturizer/sunscreen, applying touches of concealer with my fingers the way Robert does, and sealing with a setting spray. My face is a bit more dewy than I’m used to without the setting powder, but I’d rather be dewy than cake-y with my fine lines and wrinkles emphasized by the powder setting into the lines. So, next I’ll graduate to not even using powder under my eyes to set that and see how it works.

      Right? I cannot understand how and why this is a trend again. ANYTHING but this. Although my brows weren’t the thickest or bushiest, there was plenty there growing up with a pretty natural arch. I see pictures of myself around 10-15 and can clearly see how much fuller my brows were … until I went to the salon and started getting them waxed and plucked to be thinner as a teen.
      I haven’t touched my brows in 2 years. No tweezing, no trimming, nothing. Even had them laminated to try and give them a shape again (helped a bit, but didn’t go far when I didn’t have much to work with anymore). My arch has been rounded from the constant waxing and plucking, even.
      Please, people of the younger generation, don’t.
      If you want to do the look, do the concealer and foundation trick to cover the brows like many drag artists do. Please, anyone considering going thinner, don’t make the mistake so many of us made lol. Use the tricks of makeup instead.

It looked more natural, cut down my makeup time and looked better. I’ve realized I didn’t have to do every single makeup trend and I could pick what I liked or looked best for me. I've noticed the recent rise of tutorials for the 70s/90s style big, blowout hair and the more ‘sunkissed’ blush and bronzer placement so I'm expecting the rise of self-tanning lotions to follow soon. Naturally, that's led to more influencers/tic-toks talking about lip oils and ‘rediscovering’ shiny glosses.
    Wouldn't be shocked to see (and there are already signs of it) neutrals, soft browns, peaches, deep browns, and shimmers for both eyes and lips to balance the big hair..... I've already seen mentions of thinner brows and tutorials for brown/darker lipliner lightly smudged into a nude lipstick or gloss (Oh the horrified flashbacks. Agree. I don't have dark circles and I have sorta creepy under eyes and eyelids in general. Been that way my whole life. I avoid concealer because I think it makes the lines come out more even though it brightens my eyes. Time to try and under eye primer?

    • @elizabetherne556
      @elizabetherne556 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      Most of the under eye stuff nobody needs to do. The heavy concealers even. I see many very young influencers piling on the products under their eyes going on about their bags, circles, and dark under eyes. Funny, yes they film with a filter but it’s not likely they really have all that going on in the extreme fashion they make it out to be. Even myself at almost 47 does not have any real extreme under eye issues. I think we need to back off the under eyes. A light concealer or some brightening concealer is about the most anyone needs. All the heavy packing on of products really simply ages people. I’m beginning to think all along this was a conspiracy by the makeup brands to just sell more products. Have somebody on social media point out some odd flaw that supposedly everybody has, then just sell that product. Make people feels those flaws will be fixed, bam, they make money.

    I've never been one to follow trends very much But one of the ones I hate the most is brow trends in general. I don't like the huge blocky brows that look like they're drawn on with Sharpie and I definitely don't like the thin ones where you're risking permanently changing your face if you pluck too much!

    • @stillnotstill
      @stillnotstill ปีที่แล้ว +13

      Honestly people can do what they want with their brows and I'm not going to judge an individual person (definitely I do sound judging in the comment but I'm judging the trend in general)
      I think what I just hate the most is people doing things that don't suit their own face if you want to think brow or you want to thin brow and it looks good on you but when you're just following the trends it just is maybe a little silly you know what I mean? But yeah I just want to say that if blocky brows or super plucked brows make you happy, that's honestly the most important thing

    Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I'm glad skinny brows are coming back. I've been obsessed with thin eyebrows since I started loving old Hollywood and black and white tv shows when I was around 10 or 11, watching things with my mom. To this day, I'm still obsessed with Lucille Ball's eyebrows and eyelashes 🤩 I wanted eyebrows like Audrey Hepburn, Jean Harlow, and Mae West so badly that I couldn't stand it, so I started shaving them in 5th grade and failed my way upwards until I finally figured out how tweezers worked in 8th grade, in 2004 😂🤣😭 They were already blonde and kinda thin, and they never grew back again as full as they used to, but I love my skinny Disney villain eyebrows 😈💅 I finally was brave enough 2 years ago to style my hair in a French bob, because I love the pictures of Clara Bow, and Louise Brooks, and Colleen Moore sooo much, and I'm so happy with having the '20s vintage bob to go with my eyebrows now 😊

    The thing about thin eyebrows...
    I am a trans girl really early in my transition so I do anything to look more feminine, so each time I do my brows I remove under my brow a bit and it's like an eye lift
    (It's actually a thing )
    And it makes my brow bone less obvious...

    I love thin eyebrows lol. Mine are very thin from over plucking in the early 00s but I don’t mind because I’ve gotten better at filling them in and I can choose what kind of brow I want with my look. Sometimes I go a little thicker but usually I make them thin and I think it’s really pretty and suits a lot of faces. I can also drastically change the shape of my brows from my over plucking so there are a few upsides lol.
    I don’t pluck anymore and just use a brow razor and that works really well for me.

Then heavy foundation, because it was necessary, for me in a lightest shade that still wasn't light enough for me (but one day my dad decided that he can't look at me with unmatched foundation any longer and gave me the money to buy more expensive one that was in almost my shade xD) And I had a mirror back then!

Wait 5 minutes then foundation, lightly applied with a good brush and finished with a damp sponge so it’s not cakey and put it only where you need it. I don’t use a drugstore foundation, but I have heard L’Oreal has some good ones and some people like the Katrice (Ulta) and it’s very full coverage.

    I’m ready for a bold lip look since it brought color to my face and always had an interest in darker fashion

    Can we also stop 3" fingernails in strange shapes? The amount of dirt/bacteria that might be living under them makes me queasy.

      I have long nails naturally and I keep them clean. Bacteria is everywhere as long as you clean it's fine.
