It isn't a PROPER cabin WITHOUT BOOKS!!!!! That your Dad went to the trouble to make a corner bookshelf (and the fact that he has caught and prepared squid for your dinner on several occasions - amid cups of mulled wine), tells me he is a man of ultimate refined taste. This is 'roughing it' at it's finest - hats off!!
Recycled pallet wood - Free Nails and Bolts - Free Sheet metal roof - Free Time spent with Father - PRICELESS that means you don't need a Mastercard at all
Loving that hot water stove attachment! Your dad is the man, love his wit. "The man is in control of the family thermostat." Tell it to my kiddo. Ha ha. Side note... 8 ft x 5 ft is just about the size of a jail cell in the US.
I am the man in our family, I wear the trousers. But my wife tells me which ones to wear. And she controls the thermostats. Always upwards. It's an ongoing thing.
Me as the video progressed: Is that a stove? That's a nice-looking stove. Oooh, that's a really nice-looking stove. I like this stove. Ooooooooh, it's an even nicer stove than I previously thought. Yeah, I want this stove. I really want this stove. Can I get this stove? I can get this stove. This is an incredible stove. All hail the stove. The stove will be the savior of us all.
I love this. I've both laughed and cried. The father reminds me so much on my own father who has passed away. He kept everything in case it would come in useful. No matter what we needed he could find in his shed. He kept all the nuts, bolts, screws etc. in jars and tubs and he could turn his hand to anything. I have subscribed to your channel.
Wow, I’ve absolutely loved this series so far, the way you’ve edited it together and the peacefulness of watching it, you’ve done so so well. Thanks for putting this out there for us to see!
Quite honestly the best Dad of all time. He gets the marketing, has the personality, is a cool as any 20. Year old with the skills to pay the bills. An absolute legend.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of people came here the same way I did; TH-cam had this in the suggested videos for Primitive Technology. Of course, I've stayed for the high quality content. *Thumbs up*
Such a talented man is your Dad. Loved the way he curled up the rope to put it away after he took it off the wood bundles. Also Mike, you do a really great job of narrating the videos, you are awesome.
I love watching you guys. Your dad reminds me of my dad. He used to make us kids straighten old nails to use again! He also would dig around in the garage and find 'stuff' to use instead of buying things. They are a generation of original thinkers. The food makes my mouth water late at night when I'm watching also.
EPISODE 5 - We still haven't spent any money! Using reclaimed pallet wood, recycling nails where possible and using screws and bolts that we have at home. In this episode we build a raised Pallet Wood bed, install a woodstove plus more! Thanks for watching and follow the whole series here: th-cam.com/play/PLxnadpeGdTxDMYqxhMnVMPHzgIuUOKB54.html for regular photo updates and behind the scenes stuff follow me on Instagram: instagram.com/taoutdoorofficial/ * Since doing this video, Gstove have kindly offered my subscribers a 15% discount on their stoves and accessories on their website: www.gstove.com/ Just enter "taoutdoors" to get your discount. What you guys are doing, reminds me of in my early forties. I bought a house, and put a new roof and stuff on it. After that money was short, and my dad, who has gone now, and myself decided to extend the front of the old shed and make the rest waterproof. We just used recycled materials from the scrap pile from the house. It was the best time we had together....problem solving and doing it as a team. I recomend this sort of thing to any father and son
It really makes me happy to see you and your dad working together, having a laugh, just good times with your loved ones that's all one can ask for! Tis the season Love you guys
I love watching these with you and your dad. Your dad is a very amusing fellow, but even better is that you both seem to get along so well and are good to each other. Cheers.
To share what you do to the world is not easy. I realise the other day i spend hrs view your channels. I like to thank you for the uploads during 2017 and i wish you all the best for 2018. I look forward to what the channels wil bring. Many many thanks.
As always you two are what reality tv should be !!!! Very entertaining, fun, light hearted humour, and we also get great ideas of what we can do even in this day and age on the cheap. Thanks you two !!!! This cabin set up would be perfect for a ice shack here in Canada.
A huge thumbs up, cant wait for the next episode. Also very interested in the hi tech stove. Best I've seen in many years. Keep up the excellent videos.
Needs a outside bench for the summer and table. Also bird boxes attach to cabin. Solar panel for roof to watch TA Fishing on tv. Also dog kennel is missing
Started watching this series today....totally hooked! Watched quite a few of Graham's vids on TA Fishing in the past and recognised him straight away. Keep em coming lads, I'm loving it!
I just starting watching your videos. I really like your dad, he is super cool. So glad you get to spend time with someone you love. You have inspired me to spend more time with my dad. I think we may go hiking this weekend. PEACE.....
You should make a little table for the stove so you don't have to crouch down to refuel and a little table for plates and drinks to sit on that easily be put away. Outside you can make a small shed to keep coats, hats, and tools. Keep this project up, In MI we have about 2 ft of snow but I'm a similar shelter but bigger by a little and a wooden inside roof!
Hi Mike. I really like this series. To build such a cool Cabin together with your father is a great experience for sure and incredibly valuable for the relationship. The oven is fantastic and make the cabin very romantic. Only the canopy did not eat the beautyness with the big spoon :-D Greetings from Switzerland Felix
Astonishing stuff! Have been following this from the first episode and really impressed with what you guys have achieved! You Dad is clearly a knowledgeable and skilled chap and it's nice to see father and son work together on a project. Amazing that it's all recycled material too! Really good stuff mate :-)
loving the time you're spending with your old man! he's a great guy. reminds me of how it would be if i was doing this with my old man. he'd be doing most of the hammering, screwing and measuring while i'm standing there holding everything for him. ah dad's, gotta love em. you can definitely tell he's having a blast doing this with you. and it's a great way to bond with your pops! memories like these last a lifetime and it's awesome to see you guys working together and having an awesome time coming up with ideas and making them!
Love the series guys. It's great that you spend time with your Dad on projects like this. Can't wait until Jaxx gets to visit. My 2 dogs go everywhere with me! Keep up the good work and can't wait until the next video.
Cabin looking great. Love the attachment for the wood burner. Great series and on a personal note; no music and no commentary really works. Just lad and dad working in unison. Very inspirational!
looking good guys, would be a shame to use chemical foam though, any old rags and moss seems more in keeping, carry on caulking ! Happy new year fellas.
Jim Krueger we thought about it but things would be super tight for the top bunk and really we wanted to make it a one man cabin, although two could still sleep in it, one would just have to sleep on the floor...
I'm truly impressed by the quality of work you two have done in such a short time period. This is the sort of project that I imagine the Boy Scouts would be interested in for their qualifications.
Yep now you have a place to live in case your women kick you out. And it would sleep 2 comfortably is you made bunk beds. Putting tin behind the stove would also make a big difference I would bet. And if you chinked all the cracks that little stove would run you out of there on the coldest days. Great job...and all for free.
Be it a simple cabin or a shed,I love the idea's you have come up with. and building it with free materials well that's just great. The wife may not like the idea bt this next summer I plan on a simular shed for my side yard. And a word to the wise. Stay close to your Dad , time is short and bonds like yours last for ever.
They have a lot of nuts though and that's what counts! Especially Pop. He went on a fishing trip with the guy who wrote Deliverance and tells his son on TH-cam. Now that takes a some nuts!

you guys look like your having a blast.... I lost my dad a few years ago , and just wanted to say ...enjoy the time . when its gone its gone. i enjoy the build as well cool stuff
Hello!I got to missing you guys after 2 weeks and I am back after this'n'that. Now I have some free time to "hang-out" with you two.I really appreciate the easy camaraderie of you two, it kind of reminds me of my father, who taught me carpentry & other handyman skills. He's been gone for 8 years & we miss him.Meanwhile, life is mighty fine here in SW Virginia, USA, near the Blue Ridge Mountains. We got 1 & 1/4" of snow this morning, which will probably melt tomorrow or the next day! Hopefully whatshisface up in the world-capital-wannabe won't screw up our planet too much, and we'll all still be here for many years to come!Happy Trails...
It's really awesome you and your father are getting to spend time and make memories together. Really love the idea and execution, keep it up gentlemen.
Cannot wait to learn how the Pallet Palace compares to Badger's Rest as a cold overnight camp! Neither place is particularly insulated as yet and each will have its own charms. Your Dad's touches to the bed just about knocked me out of my desk chair: a headboard...and finials, yet.
So far you have made a wonderful tutorial on building a small cabin, and other items. Thank you for your dedication and love for the outdoors. Keep on going Mike, you and your dads youtube channels are TOPNOTCH!!!!!

Mate you're Dad is having the time of his life building that with you
Your dad is hysterical I love him so much !
More than anything, what I like most about this project is that it is a dad&son story in which I see a happy family saving wonderful memories together.
Very true, its times like these that you can look back on with fond memories.
Ya that’s what family is for

Nice, especially working with your Dad. Lost mine to cancer in 2002, so enjoy all the moments you can while you’ve still got him. 👍
Loving that hot water stove attachment! Your dad is the man, love his wit. "The man is in control of the family thermostat." Tell it to my kiddo. Ha ha. Side note... 8 ft x 5 ft is just about the size of a jail cell in the US.

Don't give the inmates any ideas, lol
Where do you buy the attachment
I am the man in our family, I wear the trousers. But my wife tells me which ones to wear. And she controls the thermostats. Always upwards. It's an ongoing thing.
Doesn't get much better than a father and son having fun doing things together. You will remember it for a life time. Keep having fun.
Me as the video progressed: Is that a stove? That's a nice-looking stove. Oooh, that's a really nice-looking stove. I like this stove. Ooooooooh, it's an even nicer stove than I previously thought. Seriously what is this stove1?>
HauntedShadowsLegacy I was exactly the same I'm very impressed it even comes with an oven! now that's even more impressive.

You are lucky to have such an awesome Dad and Dad is lucky to have you . Fathers and Sons should do what you guys do . Love your camp .
I love how your dad laughed when he nailed the support railing you were holding to the rail. So cute!!! 😊😊😊
I love watching you guys. Your dad reminds me of my dad. He used to make us kids straighten old nails to use again! YOU BOTH ARE AMAZING BUT YOUR DAD IS SOOOO FUNNY. HOW ABOUT AN OUTHOUSE?
If they cut a hole in the end of the bunk they could put a bucket under the bed so they dont have to go out in the night..........lol
You can collect and use sawdust to cover it so it doesn't stink. Not that it would in winter, but come spring/summer that stuff would be rank.
Theyre English, just get a Chamber Pot.
That is a FANTASTIC looking portable pot belly stove!
A huge thumbs up, cant wait for the next episode. Also very interested in the hi tech stove. Best I've seen in many years. Keep up the excellent videos.

Your dad is hilarious.. loved the "jail scene
Cabin looking great. Love the attachment for the wood burner. Great series and on a personal note; no music and no commentary really works. Just lad and dad working in unison. Very inspirational!
great video guys loving the build so far, btw your dad reminds me of Bruce Forsyth lol
Omg I love your dad so much!!! You guys are going great! So happy I found this channel
looking good guys, would be a shame to use chemical foam though, any old rags and moss seems more in keeping, carry on caulking ! Happy new year fellas.
You have done a wonderful job with your project. Watching the two of you together is the biggest treat.
A porch is an open veranda, and a veranda is a closed porch.
Brilliant Father and son together, thats what it's all about !
Why didn't you make the bed a "bunk" bed so you could sleep two if you had to
good idea, maybe an upper that could be dismantled easy and stored under the lower bunk.
Jim Krueger that cabin just isn’t enough room for 2 people
Jim Krueger we thought about it but things would be super tight for the top bunk and really we wanted to make it a one man cabin, although two could still sleep in it, one would just have to sleep on the floor...
It could have been done, take a look at a submarine, Most efficient use of space I've ever seen.
it is so good to see you and your dad working toghter and she how well you get along it is awesome.
You should board the walls up with cardboard for insulation and a bit more sound cancelling
Stay close to your Dad , time is short and bonds like yours last for ever.
your lack of washers is disturbing
Greg Armstrong oh and dryers too?
They have a lot of nuts though and that's what counts! Especially Pop. He went on a fishing trip with the guy who wrote Deliverance and tells his son on TH-cam. Now that takes a some nuts!
I cannot tell you how much I love watching your videos, so creative. Always keep your sense of humor!!!
The reason we pronounce things differently is you all speak proper English and we butcher the English language here in the states. Lol.
Yup especially down here in the south.
Apparently you've never heard someone from Lancashire speak "English". Ask an Italian how to say pasta, and tell me if the Americans or the Brits are closer to proper pronunciation. Anyway, the English language is already a butchering of Middle German with a bunch of Latin influence, hence the inconsistent grammar. Also, the "southern" Appalachian American accent is closest to what the first wave of European immigrants would have sounded like i.e. English.
Dont worry its all English
In the South we speak Southern and Country. And we also say Y'all. I like our Southern accents.
depends on if you ask an American Italian or a British Italian 30E. Lancashire is more English than that restricted, constrained speak the nonces in Westminster flap with.
I really enjoyed this series. I don't have a dad so it's nice to sometimes see a good dad in action.
Dad's a fine actor. Well impressed.
I'm enjoying this series very much. Y'all are funny together - wish I'd had such a good relationship with my dad! I'm fascinated with all the problem solving, creative use of free materials, skills, and of course the cooking. Squid! On a campfire! Who knew!?! Thank you for sharing this with us!
I love the dad's voice ! He sounds like he'd be a really good book reading voice . Lol I don't know why but I love his accent the most .
Everybody would like to have a dad like yours. He is more of a friend than a dad.
Very cool and perfect size. Sweet that you have that time with your dad, carry on.
Man, your dad just loves this stuff! Good on you guys, wish my dad could get into something like this.
Everything done by you and your father is always so darn awesome, wow great time's! Thanks for sharing.
Doug Bucher thanks Doug
I am enjoying watching you two so very much. Thank you for allowing me to "dream" and "learn"!
You should give your dad the cabin. It would be a nice gift. 👍🏼
you guys look like your having a blast.... I lost my dad a few years ago , and just wanted to say ...enjoy the time . when its gone its gone. i enjoy the build as well cool stuff

Really cool! You are blessed to have your dad out there with you! Look forward to the next one. I am already planning my build, inspired by this one.
i wish i had a dad to do this with. you two are amazing.

Me and my daughter have just watched the whole series and loved it!!! Cheers from Brazil!!!
ADEMILSON SILVA awesome! Thank you
So far you have made a wonderful tutorial on building a small cabin, and other items. Thank you for your dedication and love for the outdoors. Keep on going Mike, you and your dads youtube channels are TOPNOTCH!!!!!
Hi, I am a retired gamekeeper due to lymphoma of which I am in remission. I have spent most of my life in the woods. I used a 10 inch bowie knife for almost every project from stakes to prepare game birds and deer. I have really enjoyed the channel.
Many thanks.
Rick JENESON.
Bowie liked that design as well; why he marketed it with his name on it all those years ago
Great father and son project!
I'm envious! Take every opportunity to do projects together. My dad has been gone since 2013 and I still miss him every day. Have a happy New Year and keep the vids coming!
watching your channel is such a refreshing for kid who raised in big city surrounded by the high rise building like me.
Thanks you blokes, for reminding me of when my dad and I had our Projects :-) he's gone now, :-(
