  • Apparently it took Salomon two years to engineer and design this new trail running shoe. So what is really behind these shoes? Is this the best trail running shoe out there so far? Find out in my honest review what I really think about them! Let me tell you that I'm excited to race with this shoe in 2023!
    Let me know in the comments what you think of it and if you want to try it!

    Thanks for the review. FYI the upper fabric is called Matryx, made by a French company and also used on the Hoka Tecton-X 2. Salomon have been pretty vocal about the fact that the shoe was designed for at least 700km vs 500km for « normal » trail shoes.

      Thanks for the info on the Matryx! Yes the shoe is holding up very good so far. I have just about 300km on them and I intend to take them to at least 700km.

    Hi Chris, thanks for the review. Which shoes would you recommend for Mozart - Hoka Speedgoat or the SLab Genesis? Is the terrain rough enough to warrant the Genesis, or is it more adapt to the cushopned Hokas?

      Hey Robert! That’s a good question. If cushioning is important to you, then I believe the Hokas might be better. I haven’t ran the Mozart yet. But I believe the terrain isn’t too technical and there are a lot of asphalt sections.
      I will run the Mozart 81 km this year and haven’t decided either what shoe I will use.
      Best of luck to you :)

      @@chris.schmied Thank you. Only "marathon" for me, but I guess that makes it even clearer. BTW, really disapointing how they shortened it below 40k. Good luck to you though!

      Hi guys. I watched the whole video and I totally agree with your review, like everything. The shoes might not be the soft cushioning like Hoka but it is soft enough compare to other Salomon shoes I've worn. I really believe that you can go 100 miles with the Genesis with no doubt. For me the Genesis has a good cushioning, not too soft and not too firm, it's really in the middle which I find it's very good on the trail for stability. I'm pretty sure that people who have put on the Genesis, they will love them. It's nothing like the S LAB ultra 3, which is giving you the firm ride. I can compare this to the S LAB pulsar trail SG but more secured and protective.

      @@uchukronmaneesuwannarat9749 Hey, I’m glad we are on the same page with how the shoe performs. I also think it can do well on technical Ultras here in the alps. Can’t wait to see how people will use the shoe in the upcoming season.
      What shoes do you use for racing?

      @@chris.schmied Hi Chirs. For 2023, I have up coming races during the summer. Short distance trail 25km, I would use Nnormal Kjerag, I don't know if you have your hands on them but they are really amazing. And another 100 miles race, I would definitely go for the S LAB Genesis, and Norda. I would use these two pairs for a long distance, probably first 50 miles with Norda and the second half with Genesis, I think the Genesis gives more cushion after long hours

    What is your running uniform in the winter season Chris. ?

    • @chris.schmied
      @chris.schmied  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In the Winter i use long running pants from Nike on my regular runs. On the mountains i use light hiking pants. They give me a bit more protection from harsch weather. My tops I layer depending on how I feel. I use a light down jacket if it gets really cold.
      My shoes are the same all year. I however use merino socks when it gets really cold.
      Hope this helps!

      Thanks Chris. I ordering 2XU compress / fleece for keep warm in the cold season 0-10 0C. Which Merino sock are you using. I ordering Wrightsock for my next race in Fuji in April. Not sure it works or not.
