    Great review again, Jeff! I’ve been using and absolutely loving the Ultra Glide for short trail runs to multi days fastpacking in the Alps. Might give these a shot as a replacement, but I love the Ultra so much

      I am enjoying the Ultra Glide too, have put 250km already. I only see one issue about the durability of the outsole as I am seen more wear compared to the Sense Ride I am used to wear. Still I am confident to put at least 600km in them. Really like the cushioning and they can be a fast shoe too.

    Jeff, thanks very much. Watched and listened to you and snagged a pair in Latvia via EBay. It is almost a magical shoe and can’t wait to race it. My last race was a 200-miler early in November, the inaugural Cowboy 200 in neighboring Nebraska, and this 59-year-old Coloradan placed 15th overall out of 55. Used the Hoka Tecton X for the first 125 miles and, when my feet turned into clown feet, defaulted to the NNormal Tomir for the back 75. The Tomir is a little harsh so an Inov-8 Boomerang footbed made it palatable. Now that I finally have the Genesis, I may use that shoe in my next 200-mile plus in the mountains. Best to you and your family. I appreciate your insights and willingness to share learnings, and admire your love of running and racing. Godspeed! Troy from Colorado.

    Might give these a shot I’m I am I have the dub the pro for matter fact I was able to just pick up a pair at eBay that are brand new. I love this shoe but after about 2530 miles it’s that the tow box is just too narrow. Don’t like a high stack shoe because I can roll my ankle sometimes but I think this might be a good combination thing. Yeah I I took my ultra glides and matter fact, after about 100 miles the phone was dead and I sold them to somebody so might give these a shot. I’m not sure it’s because like I said, rolling my ankle and not feeling on the ground is usually when I trip I’d rather be lower and I if I could actually just make my sense for pros a little wider in the toolbox, but you know, everything’s a combination

    I so much wish Salomon would bring back the sense pro. Pulsar trail pro not close, I sent back. But the sense pro 4 was designed for me then they removed it.

    Since the moment I saw this model I thought: "wow, this looks a badass. Ready to tackle different type of terrains and looks very durable" I would not mind to get my hands into this after my Ultra Glide and Sense Ride 4. I have to admit that since the release of Sense Ride line up, I have been pretty happy with every single iteration but yet to try a S/Lab model.
    Thanks for the video as usual. Very informative and well explained.

    Love the review! Really like the Genesis, although I think they have a bit too much stuffs for me (-30g would be awesome).
    I wished my Salomon SLab were lasting 500km. Most die (logs and/or mesh) after about 300 to 400 km :(

    Thanks for an other great video!
    I use them too and I love them! It's exactly what I expect from an Ultra shoe. I would say it has the sensation of the Ultra 3 and de comfort of the Ultra Glide. But... I don't manage to lace it right. Most of the downhills I'm to loose in the shoe and if I tight it up its too narrow very quikly.. Basically the shoe fits really well, but not in downhills. Does someone has similiar problem or any advice? I dont know what to do else, because I would like to waer this shoe further on, because its almost perfect!

    @kgenest100 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Many thanks for the review Jeff. I was very curious to hear your thoughts on this shoe. I don’t run long enough distances to justify buying them… will stick to the original Pulsar for the roads and the Pulsar SG for the trails. Nice to see Salomon put so much into a decently light shoe… they keep innovating much more than Hoka in my view…

  • @ThatFlowState
    @ThatFlowState ปีที่แล้ว +1

    I'm very intrigued by these. In the past I had no luck with Salomon's last even in their non S/LAB shoes. That changed this year with the Pulsar Trail which are just a fantastic allrounder. So I'm hoping these will also be a good fit. Unfortunately they've been sold out here as well but ultra racing season is over anyway so I have time to snag a pair.

    Very interesting point you make about shoe mileage and the gap in the market. I started running recently and when shoe shopping was surprised to see that most shoes cap out around 500-600km. Salomon is doing great innovation here!

    Great video, thanks for sharing! I'm a big fan of Salomon's UltraGlide, which fits perfectly on my feet. Because of the S/Lab is said to be more on the narrow side I hesitate to try them out. So what's your opinion on how especially the toe box of the genesis compares to the UltraGlide?

    • @JeffPelletier

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  ปีที่แล้ว

      The Speedcross is definitely more of an entry-level shoe. It’s got a much higher ‘heel drop’ and stack height, a very different fit, and is made from cheaper and less durable materials (which the price reflects).

  • @legionrider2010
    @legionrider2010 ปีที่แล้ว

    Maybe you can help me. Looking for a road running shoe that the toe cap is similar to the one you are reviewing or even better the top is designed like the Salomon 6's (I have a pair of the 6s and they are great for what I need) I have an issue that my feet are two different sizes (I know it's weird) so the toe on my smaller foot rubs the top of the running shoe and within a few runs, there is a hole. I've tried thicker socks,etc.. but nothing works. But like with the Salomon 6s the top has much more protection in the fabric, I just cannot find a road shoe the same.

    But if they test so much, for prolonged periods, why did the ultra glide perform so bad, giving up in the midsole after such short mileage.

    • @JeffPelletier

    Thanks for the review. When you give the shoe weight would you mind stating what size shoe that weight corresponds to? I wear a size 12 US. I bought a pair of Brooks Caldera 6 that claimed 301g, but on my scale the size 12 came in at 388g. Thanks again; love your content.

    • @JeffPelletier

    • @JeffPelletier
      @JeffPelletier  ปีที่แล้ว

      I haven’t really tested the S/LAB Ultra since the first version, which I wasn’t a huge fan of. There look to be some major changes coming this Spring with the Ultra 4 (you didn’t hear that from me). So I’ll try to review those once they’re released.

    • @JeffPelletier

    wow, as for myself Ultra Glide felt very rigid and not really cushioned shoe, especially after 15km run it just flattens out and you can feel every rock underneath. I can only imagine how responsive and rigid other slab line shoes would be.
    I guess it is good thing to wear more minimalist type of shoes for your feet but for now i will stick with SG as max cushion shoes does save my feet on ultras for me.
