I know it's cliche to say this, but this is definitely reminiscent of the Nujabes/Fat Jon Samurai Champloo era sound. Also, I'm a huge Aphex Twin, Autechre, etc. fan too. I don't own an MPC so I can't speak from experience, but the MPC from all the videos I've seen (the One and Live II) are much closer to a DAW with the screen workflow, per track fx and piano roll. So in a sense I would say the MPC is more menu dive-y due to the more "control" over each piece of a track. SP is much quicker but simpler workflow. A way to get some of the MPC workflow into the SP is to use Koala Sampler (a phone app) with the piano roll & bus fx update. One of the limitations of TR Rec Mode for sure (and one I struggled with in this beat during the original livestream). While I don't believe you can see the parameters, if you hold down the specific step you can change the parameters by moving their respective knobs.

I have one question and im sure you know the answer; Is it possible to copy a sequence from one pattern to another without overwriting it? I.E. i have 4 patterns witht he same drum loop, then i change the drum sequence and i want to copy the new sequence to my other pattterns. Hope this make sense. Sorry my english is not perfect. Just to make sure I'm understanding your question, are you trying to copy a specific "track" from the sequence, like copy the drums to a new pattern without also copying the other parts? If that's the case, I do it in the video, when you select the pattern after hitting copy, hit remain and choose the pads you want to move to the new pattern. If you're trying to replace a track in one pattern with something from another... I'm actually not sure if you're able to do that, I'll look into it.

Interesting question, it would be a very cool function! The only way I can imagine doing something like that is to: 1. Copy the parts of the existing patterns that you want to new patterns like Sunwarper explained 2. Resample those patterns to pads in sample mode 3. Then resample those at the same time 4. Now they are merged as 1 sample on a single pad

I've been using MPC beats and i would simply copy the new midi notes from one sequence to another sequence. I could create 4 different sequences without drums, then make a drum loop on one of them and then just copy it to other sequences. Sorry its a bit confusing because its called "sequences" in MPC Beats and "patterns" in the mk2. But the idea its just to copy/merge loops from one pattern/sequences to another one. Resampling is a good workaround but is also destructive. Hope this make more sense! Thanks guys
@@humansrstupid8007 I’m a MPC user as well, so I understand what you’re saying. A part of the sp404 is that sometimes things you record are definite (or “destructive”). The good thing about my workaround is that after the resampling you will still have the original samples. If you don’t like the merged version, you can always merge two other resampled patterns.

You can use Isolator to exclude certain frequencies when sampling in too the SP 404. You can remove the base if you want to add your own base.
