nice tutorial sir , you can extrude the cable wherever the circle is by go to surface > extrdue option box and change the result position to at path and the pivot to component then extrude .
Mike is there everything okay about assigning new material to cable created from nurbs? It stays black with any types or color of materials assigned to it. Mb in your tutorial it didn't changed the color also - black from the beginning?

Update. Found that color is changing, but only inside the cable for some reason.. So it is not seen from a standart view.
How to fix it?
