I think in his tenure, only New England and maybe Pittsburgh had better overall records, and they were up there in terms of playoff games and wins.
In its simplest terms the time to develop without the pressure is the key. There’s a lot that goes into that and things that need to happen before that but once you create the environment it can be done. Favre working out while basically being thrown in after watching Majkowski for just a few games was the catalyst to all of it. Without Favre’s success none of it happens. Once you have the guy you just need to identify the timing. If you feel you’re at that 3 year mark and you signed your guy to his last deal then you immediately draft your next guy… you need to identify the right “next guy” knowing he might be a little raw but he’s got 3 years to dial in. You also need to manage your current guys ego. You don’t have to make a risky bet on a guy being ready to go right away. It also helps that Green Bay doesn’t have a crazy egomaniac owner that might throw a tantrum and make irrational decisions.
They also deserve a heck of a lot of credit for sticking with Favre. 1993 was a rough year (he led the league in INTs, plus 14 fumbles), they started 1-3, and they just made the playoffs under the wire. If they don't win that playoff game in Detroit, do the Packers consider opening a competition to Ty Detmer and Mark Brunell the next summer? As much as the Packers have gotten it right, boy, it's plays here and there that make the difference, and a little luck as well.
This plan has a major drawback, though. You're always paying your starting QB top-dollar, which doesn't allow you to build around them. That makes your organization completely dependent on the success of the QB.
I've been a Packers fan since the Wild Card game in San Francisco in 1995/6. I really thought that trying to replicate their successful transition from Favre to Rodgers again with Love was a fool's errand, and I'm still not fully convinced. However, this is a remarkable showing over the last half of the season that so far has absolutely validated that approach to QB development, and hope for further positive results.
Man it's wild being a Packers fan born in 82, my earliest memories are of Green Bay never being able to get in the playoffs and straight ass QB play. To witness 30 years of HOF QB play with the potential of it jumping to possibly 45+ years total. It's very early obviously and Jordan Love has a lot of work to do before then, the potential is there though. Witnessing Favre bring Green Bay back to relevance and winning the title, then(not willingly lol) passing the torch to Aaron Rodgers who had an insane run and get the Packers another title and now passing the torch(not so willingly either lol) to Jordan Love whom is having a very strong start to his chapter in Green Bay history. Bart Star, Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers what a storied history at QB I really like Love and hope he can join that line up of Packer legends.
Well I got 12 years on you, and the Lynn Dickey years were frustrating, he had a strong arm but in later years he was immobile with the bad knees....plus we had the early 80s Bears to contend with... then for a brief time we had the Magic man (lol) Don Majkowski and Sterling Sharpe and damn that guy was incredible he was like a tight end at receiver.. but the neck stinger ended that ...anyway then came the Farvinator and we off 🏃

As a Packers fan, I agree 100% with everything that you said. But let's be honest, why develop HOF QBs if we can only win 2 Super Bowls in three decades. I am convinced that if San Francisco had drafted Rodgers, they would have at least three rings by now. Rodgers did more for the Packers than the Packers did for him. I hope the same thing doesn't happen to Love.
@@brianluisi7616 I'm not a Bears fan, so I don't care what happens to the Bears, but if I follow your logic, I'd rather have 3 conference championships, and two Super Bowls in four years like, let's say the Chiefs.
That's just it, though. Developing QBs in this way means that you are always paying top-dollar for your QB and are not able to build around them. That leaves your organization entirely dependent on the success of the QB. Rodgers is proof that even top-level QB play is not necessarily enough to win.
I'm not joking when I tell you that people in Wisconsin can see the future. A lot here are clairvoyant. We can look at someone and know if they will be good.
The problem with other teams is they draft a QB early and throw them in the deep end with the Sharks and hope they can not only swim but also fight off the sharks, and if they can't they kick them to curb and start the process all over again, whereas the Packers draft a early-mid round QB that shows a lot of potential and then bench them to let them study and learn the game without that pressure to perform at such a high level as the NFL while still trying to learn....it also helped that with A-rod and 10VE they were able to sit behind HOF QBs and not only learn how to play the game at the NFL level but also how said HOF QB does certain things or handles certain situations....that's why you see so many similarities between each ones throwing motion
the greenbay packers have fed the entire league with top talent since the organizations existence. many teams dont seem to understand they only were the champs bc of ex coaching staff, ex coaches, coordinators and players that studied in the greenbay grindhouse. you do not need to know what we do here. thats secret sauce buddy and why the greenbay packers will always be the true 'AMERICAS TEAM'
We’re the most spoiled fan base in the NFL outside of the Patriots from about 2001 to 2019 and Love might have about 6 Wideouts he can develop with and each one has the potential for greatness so this is crazy
Packers have more than a chance!! If Joe Barry doesn't fall back into his soft zone Defense and they keep putting pressure on the QB and playing man cover, they will win!! Packers 33 SF 24
I can assure you that they have been studied from day 1. The original players and coaches and equipment managers and cheerleaders are all gone. They’ve had some good fortune, true. Maybe QBs need a couple of years to learn before they’re thrown to the wolves.
They have a chance to beat them but it could also be a reality check that yes they are the youngest team in the league and they have much to learn. I enjoyed this season immensely, it was a lot a fun and the buildup to where they are now has been a good time. Looking forward to this upcoming season and what they can do.
Its because of Green Bay. Its the City. Its the Fans. Its the energy and the Legend of Lombardi. It was the desolation of the 70s and 80s. Since Favre stepped in in 92, which was only 25 years after 1967. The return to glory and "Pack is Back" era brought the city to life and revitalized a proud franchise. The loyalty shown to Favre for doing that lives on, it lived on in Aaron and now Jordan. It is the integrity and trust of that city and what they feel for their team. It lives in the heart of Packers country and the hearts of Green and Gold bleeding Packers fans anywhere, and everywhere. Its a different team man, its a different energy, and it manifests a virtue, which we all recognize, and which instantiates itself, as these MVP quarterbacks and icon, legendary figures. Its the ghost of Lombardi. Its Curly Lambeau's spirit. Its Paul Hornung, Bart Starr. Do you understand the 50 years of glory they had in that town from 1920 -1967? Then it all went away for 25 years. Then it CAME BACK with Favre. That type of savior spirit, will never leave the city. Brett, I hope you see this. Aaron, you know what it means. They are in the line of greatness and the glory lives on. It will persist. It does even now in Jordan Love. Long live the Green and Gold.
What is there to study? Ron Wolf saw something he liked in Favre, who was a generational talent. Rodgers was drafted almost as an afterthought, and had time to develop. Love was drafted and had years to develop. That is what Green Bay does. They take players in the later rounds and develops them.
Man don't tell everyone the formula, we like having the secret system, lol.... but seriously most teams don't have the patience to devolop a great qb... when they draft top picks they will cut them quickly if they aren't great from the get go- but even though they are #1 or top picks the NFL is way different than college, it takes time
twas born in the year 1989 a mere 22 miles from the Big G off of hyw 41, with my first memories of football being farveaaaaaa lol holding the Lombardi trophy. 🤣🤣🤣🤣football truthy seems to give
forgive my rant as idk if anyone else is noticing this but the NFL and NCAA are developing opposite ideologies on how to handle QB's and when to start them, and it's driving me crazy. The Packers are the only NFL team imo doing it right and it shows, every other team keeps drafting a QB in the 1st round and throws them into the fire expecting results. I counted over 30+ 1st round QB draft busts since 1998, what happened that year? Peyton Manning and Ryan Leaf, 1 is a hall of famer, the other is an all time bust. Both were started right away instead of sitting and developing. Every team wants a Manning, yet they need to start expecting Leafs, they need to find a way to sit them for at least 1 year like the Chiefs did, as they're the only other team that sat a rookie before starting them. Lets face it, QB's take longer to develop than any other position, not only that, the NFL has a thing where rookies can get playing time without worrying about the results of the game, the preseason, while the vets play the regular season where there are consequences. Meanwhile, in the NCAA, more and more teams are demanding "experienced" QB's instead of recruiting and developing, all thanks to the transfer portal. The Wisconsin Badgers last offseason took in 3 transfers to help fill up a QB room that had only 2 QB's going in. The transfers were all 4*+ prospects, 2 Redshirt Freshmen and a senior, makes sense to sit and develop those 2 freshmen for a year right? the senior played but he got hurt for a bit and one of the freshman got playing time. Just before our bowl game this year, Badgers announced that they already got another QB for next year... I went, "What!?" because it didn't make sense, we got Miami's QB to transfer to the Badgers. It immediately begs the question, what the hell was the point of getting those 2 other prospects then? I thought one of the freshmen would take over next year, he had starting experience, and had talent and knowledge of the playbook, but no, the Badgers wanted "experience" at the position, basically they wanted another already developed senior. I wouldn't be surprised going forward if more prospects avoid schools like WI if all those schools are going to do is take in senior transfer QB's to start their teams instead of playing recruits. It makes no sense because there is no preseason in NCAA, there's non-conference and conference play, and it all counts, how else are backup players supposed to get playing time? TL:DR? NFL needs to start sitting rookies for experienced vets like the Packers even if it's just for 1 year and use preseason for the rookies even if they were 1st rounders, college needs to take more chances on young players instead of always going for seniors because experience.
Part of it has to do with the qb they draft. They like guys with a huge arm who are slightly flawed mechanically. Mechanics can be fixed. People forget that Aaron Rodgers coming out of college had terrible mechanics. Those years he sat allowed them to get fixed. Same with Love. If you have a big enough arm, your mechanics don't need to be perfect. In fact, the imperfections become a strength.
I don't remember where I heard it and this may not be exact but someone said "you can teach a 6'6" qb how to be a dominant thrower of the football, you can't teach a dominant thrower of the football to be 6'6""
The fact that they're always finding quarterbacks that can throw off their back foot and in the air is insane. Favre, Rodgers, and now Love all have those similar throwing styles.
Smith /Mahomes, Montana/Young, Farve/Rodgers, Rodgers/Love , Greene/Warner even Fitzpatrick/Tua the qb position especially in today's era should be treated as an apprenticeship. The thing is Green Bay can commit because of not only the ownership but its a small town. It will be harder for New York teams for example to do the same.
It helps that the packers aren't privately owned and thus subject to the whims of an impulsive individual. They have the luxury to sit guys for years and endure the media pressure of nonstop criticism.
Some of it is the team having plan for what happens after The Guy is done, and some of it is just happy coincidence. When they drafted Rodgers they were not planning on taking a QB, a guy who was a potential #1 overall falling to #24 was just too good to pass up. And they didn't plan on sitting him for 3 years; Favre had already been contemplating retirement after every season for like 5 years, so they thought he very well could be the starting QB as early as his 2nd season. Then with Love, they drafted him because Rodgers play had been declining for a few seasons and their intention was to have him sit for 2 years at the time. They didn't plan on Rodgers storming back to win back to back MVPs and kind of strong arming them into keeping him around beyond that.
I don't really know that there's a lot to be studied here. It's an easy lesson: don't start QBs as rookies. The jump in terms of speed, level of competition, and amount of information to absorb is just way too big for any human brain. You do get the unicorns once in a while (e.g. Stroud), but that's what they are. There are enough examples over the years (Brady, Carson Palmer, Matt Hasselbeck, to name a few) of teams being patient and letting guys become acclimated to the league and not rushing them into service. All it takes is having the patience to not start your #1 draft pick, and finding a veteran QB who can give you a couple years of solid, unspectacular play. You build as good of a team around that as you can and let the cards fall where they may.
Green Bay is definitely run like a corporation with good football as a product. There isn't an ego owner or team handed down through generations of a wealthy family that loses touch with the current state of football.
I’m a huge long term Packers fan, but everyone really needs to pump the brakes. I absolutely hope all the Love hype is real and long lasting, but he’s had good one half of one year. Cinderella flash in the pan stories are all over all sports. Yes, based on this past year, for the most part, the future looks bright. But give it another full year or two.
I think after this year, we'll finally start spending money and winning multiple championships. something feels different. Defense is about to be super aggressive. gary and smith are about to be coming hot.
I think there is a key difference between 12 and 10. Rodgers only significantly benefited from sitting the first year. His pure arm talent is possibly the best the league has ever seen so even if he got off to a shaky start his talent would have still been obvious. GB front office wasn't comfortable starting Love until this season otherwise we would have traded a rod in 22. Love is best when he's feeling confident, which would never have happened if he started 3-14 in his second year or third year.
The timing of the team and the career of Rodgers just didn’t match up anymore. All Rodgers old weapons got injured and old and the packers didn’t replace them fast enough in order to stack the defense with talent. Even through the drama I still wish the best for Aaron, but this is the most excited I’ve been for the teams future since Rodgers almost beat the cardinals
Love my team, not a stock holder, but yeah they seems to get it right. Time will tell, not the greatest season, but Jordan Love did not dissapoint. Doesn't mean a Super Bowl, but maybe. Only 1 team gets that prize, so it's not very easy to do. As a Packer fan I actually wanted to see the Lions get there, but lost by 3. Hope we beat em twice next year though, its a tough road.
They said we couldn't after Favre, then Rodgers, it's just a system that works lol. Guess Love will be a Jet in 15 years and then the next one will be up haha
I couldn’t believe on Fox last week all those football legends and experts(not surprised by Jimmy Johnson) picked Dallas like 7or8 professional analysts all stooped down for jerry and choose the cow ladies over the Pack! Wow I’m keeping that game on my DVR forever. Freaking Michael Irvin had Dallas in the superbowl, not surprised, but he’s not a real good judge of talent. For example when you draft in fantasy football you never want to draft all of the players on your favorite team, you never do that, that’s amateur, coming back to Irvin -why do they even ask him who he thinks is going to win? He’s never going to not pick his old team. Do you think he would get Jerry all upset if he didn’t. The same with Tedy Bruschi- only knows one thing - Patriots or else. It’s like their brainwashed
i know some packer fans that were tryin to write off love as a bum but i told em fuck that he goin to be great just like the HOFers before him, he looks and throws like rodgers with that little quick flick, im a raiders fan but i have always fucked with rodgers and i fuck with love as well
It's all luck, based on hard work. Brock Purdy was picked last. Tom Brady was picked in which round? They got a guy who needed time to grow but had talent. It was a risk that paid off. This season Love had a better statistical season than any QB in Chicago's 114 yr history ( and Love is a "rookie" starter). It took Love 1/2 a season to grow and figure out NFL defenses while on the field. It's not magic, it's luck. P.S. while Rodgers was sitting, the Packers tried to trade him, it would be a very different conversation if GB had traded Rodgers in 2007.
The reason Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers only won one Superbowl each is because every playoff game is fixed and the NFL wouldn't allow the Packers any more Superbowl appearances. Don't be surprised if Jordon Love meets the same fate!!!
The packers got extremely lucky with rodgers falling and nobody needing a QB that year. You will never see a potential #1 overall or the #2 QB of a draft fall that far.

DAMMMM
WHAT ABOUT THE MAGIC MAN ?? DON MAJKOWSKI
SHOUT OUT TO HIM ,,,
Bart Starr, Lynn Dixie, Magic Man they need to show respect to all those players.
@@Nightwing300 Uhh, think you mean Lynn Dickey. Let's also not forget Randy Wright, amirite?!?! Hahahahahaha
@@MH-ev3wr ok nazi 🙄
He went out like a real man should. Very professional QB attitude.
He could have been great if it wasn't for his torn rotator cuff. He was on his way until that.
They started off by making Rodgers sit out and learn from Favre and then they did the same with Love… it’s they have a Qb factory
Lynn Dixie wasn’t ass bro the fuck you mean.
Well I got 12 years on you, and the Lynn Dickey years were frustrating, he had a strong arm but in later years he was immobile with the bad knees....plus we had the early 80s Bears to contend with... then for a brief time we had the Magic man (lol) Don Majkowski and Sterling Sharpe and damn that guy was incredible he was like a tight end at receiver.. but the neck stinger ended that ...anyway then came the Farvinator and we off 🏃
@@alteredbeast1974 coaching was ass in Green Bay. They were still doing the 3 step drop back. You put him in a modern day offense with his cannon he would’ve been great.
@@Nightwing300 yep 👌, and protect Mr. Dickey like your life depends on it............ ( * canon * )
@@alteredbeast1974 yeah I was born hearing the stories of Lynn and the woe begotten Packers of the 70s. Man I still think about the "what if" about Sterling Sharp. If he never retires early I could just imagine the damage him and that degenerate Favre could have done
The only reason they can do this is because the packers do not have a stingy owner
I live in Canada and I've been a Packers fan since just before Favre and I agree with all the comments about how the future is going to be very exciting to watch. This young team has opened a lot eyes . Go packers!
I'll take 3 HOF quarterbacks and 30 years of good seasons and yes 1 superbowl per quarterback over let's say the bears
@@ryandegrave8978 you nailed it!
I'm not joking when I tell you that people in Wisconsin can see the future. A lot here are clairvoyant. We can look at someone and know if they will be good.
The future is now in GB divisional round
Five Super Bowl winning qbs, whose original teams moved on: Brady, Montana, Farve
Favre, Rodgers, and Peyton Manning. Why do some teams seem to handle that transition better than others?
Gute needs some credit as well. Check the last 2 drafts. Packer fans should be excited regardless of this weekends outcome
Great work sir, really enjoyed the presentation! You’re going to go far beyond 1,000 subs
thanks man really appreciate it 🙌
Achievement galore! Everyone attains and advances
beyond the next hindrance if they are attuned.
We’re the most spoiled fan base in the NFL outside of the Patriots from about 2001 to 2019 and Love might have about 6 Wideouts he can develop with and each one has the potential for greatness so this is crazy
In all but the rarest of situations having a young QB with potential sit behind a veteran for a year or more will help when taking over as the starter
It's all in the cheddar, but 🤫
Packers have more than a chance!!
More teams should do this
They have a chance to beat them but it could also be a reality check that yes they are the youngest team in the league and they have much to learn. I enjoyed this season immensely, it was a lot a fun and the buildup to where they are now has been a good time. Looking forward to this upcoming season and what they can do.
they will beat them. the 9r's will be asleep at the wheel and not ready for the explosive youth of this team
@@RumpleFoldSkin almost, but a young kicker failed them
@@MrGomjabber that was a hell of a game
@@RumpleFoldSkin It really was and the Pack could have gotten the win. 9rs should feel lucky to have escaped with that win.
Lol the only way other teams could do this is having a HOF QB so you can bring in a youg QB to watch and learn. It's not that hard to figure out.
How? Just ask your QB to take his feet off the ground while throwing the football.😂
This is why continuity matters. people keep moving on from their veteran QBs without an exit plan.
This guy gets it the team that Rodgers came into had young receivers that had great potential and Jordan is in the SAME position. #shitbouttogetscary
forgive my rant as idk if anyone else is noticing this but the NFL and NCAA are developing opposite ideologies on how to handle QB's and when to start them, and it's driving me crazy.
Meanwhile the nfl and NASCAR are rigged. 😂
Jennings had 12 tds and almost 1k yards with favre. Sure he was young. But dude was a stud already.
People Are Always Forgetting about Bartt Star. Packers could Potentially have four great HOF QB’S with Love.
We are not beating the niners but we will do is get better for next year and draft better defensive player
Constructive criticism: don't have your background music so loud when you have someone talking, including yourself.
Very few businesses have the patience to build a ROI four years out.
It helps that the packers aren't privately owned and thus subject to the whims of an impulsive individual. They have the luxury to sit guys for years and endure the media pressure of nonstop criticism.
Because the Packers are the greatest franchise of all time and do things their way
9er fan here worried about this game. But I like the Packers, too.
Tom Clemens is the man responsible for 30 plus years of QB legacy
I hope the Packers keep winning on house money ! GO Pack GO !
They actually provide a couple years of training
Going to be great
I’m a huge long term Packers fan, but everyone really needs to pump the brakes.
That's because they have patience with their QBs
Love my team, not a stock holder, but yeah they seems to get it right. Time will tell, not the greatest season, but Jordan Love did not dissapoint. Doesn't mean a Super Bowl, but maybe. Only 1 team gets that prize, so it's not very easy to do. As a Packer fan I actually wanted to see the Lions get there, but lost by 3. Hope we beat em twice next year though, its a tough road.
We have more than three receivers..... wicks reed doubs melton Watson heath we roll six deep
They said we couldn't after Favre, then Rodgers, it's just a system that works lol. Guess Love will be a Jet in 15 years and then the next one will be up haha
Remember Favre followed best part of 25 years of dross. Mugged Atlanta with that trade.
They have the winning hand against the 49ers and yes, they will win after that no clue
Love is the Answer,,,,,,
i know some packer fans that were tryin to write off love as a bum but i told em fuck that he goin to be great just like the HOFers before him, he looks and throws like rodgers with that little quick flick, im a raiders fan but i have always fucked with rodgers and i fuck with love as well
GO PACK GO!! 💚💛💪🏻
It’s a WIN NOW league, so other teams will not follow suit…

2 super bowls since the 1960s. I wouldn’t say it’s too great bro. It’s a solid franchise but not worth the kudos you give
The reason Brett Favre and Aaron Rodgers only won one Superbowl each is because every playoff game is fixed and the NFL wouldn't allow the Packers any more Superbowl appearances. Don't be surprised if Jordon Love meets the same fate!!!
