    Outstanding tutorial Chris. I recently bought a beautiful 2008 Goldwing and one of the first upgrades I want to do is the blue tooth capability. Fortunately, I found just what I needed in your video about the topic and I now know what direction to take. Thank you for the clear and detailed information as always.

    Hey Chris, have enjoyed your videos for several months now and just want to compliment you for your knowledge and dedication and what must be your very BIG brain to understand all the technology involved with today's biking world. I've lusted for a Goldwing like yours for years...closest I got was a 2001 Valkyrie Interstate....great bike but handling sucked. Anyway, would be great to meet up with you and your crew someday. Here's hoping. Thanks again. VR, Escondido, CA , currently own 2009 Harley Ultra Classic and 2006 Triumph Rocket III Classic. Lusting for your era Goldwing or even the latest 2018 DCT plus model. Thumbs up!

    Thanks Chris. Ignore my questions in your other posts. I am setup same way. Sena Freewire sounds interesting once it is released (I've dumped a chunk of change already in all of this sena bluetooth stuff...lol) Everyone surpassing GW in modern electronics. I concur that Honda is missing the boat not having this as standard feature. Thought their 17' Wing would change much of this, to find out they have done nothing to the bike except discontinue airbag model & lower price in '17. Very disappointing. Maybe they'll do something in 18'. Very good video and explanation. Maybe I'll run into you on the road somewhere. WingTeam !

    Instead of using all the 'extra stuff' just get 2 of the Nolan Multi3 units at $240 each, and a cord for one bike (either Honda 5 PIN, BMW or Harley) $36.00 and you're done. Then you get all the bike features along with the bluetooth features. Been using this system for nearly 3 years now.

      Good news, next month Sena is coming out with a new bluetooth transmitter called the Sena FreeWire, it looks just like the Sena SM-10 just a different color. This transmitter will plug directly into the 5 DIN, with that being said, It will transmit all of your Goldwings audio, stereo, GPS, navigation, as well as allowing the rider and passenger to transmit/receive the CB radio communication to there wireless bluetooth helmet. All that is required is a Sena 20s, and the Sena FreeWire, this will eliminate the need to have a SMH-10, and the SMH-10 modified wiring harness like in my video. My suggestion is to buy a Sena 20s, and wait for the Sena FreeWire to be released.

    • @jacquedominique1911

      Thank you so much for the update , i will definitely wait for freewire release. another question if i may, the link you have for 20s helmet is for Harley will it also work for a GL1800? .
      The 20S for Goldwing is much more pricey www.sierra-mc.com/proddetail.asp?prod=SNA-20S-01D

    Chris, have you seen the redesign of the 2017 Goldwing? Biggest change is changing the front forks to something resembling a swing arm. Also the turn signals on the mirrors are gone. If you Google it you can see it. I apologize for putting it here as I don't know your email.

    • @chriscaliente5033
      @chriscaliente5033  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I hear lots of rumors all the way up to automatic transmissions. I not going to speculate and just wait to see what happens, but knowing Honda don't be surprised if the make no changes except the colors lol.

      2017 Honda Goldwing new fork suspension
      Almost all of the suspension articulation is through the main lever, which its back part is attached to the vertical lever, which, in turn, is attached to the steering column frame of a motorcycle. In the traditional scheme of the fork carrying lever this lever has a rotational degree of freedom, which provides the turning of the wheel, but he is rigidly fixed in the longitudinal direction.
      2017 Honda Goldwing front suspension
      Here lies the main difference of new Honda plugs. Vertical load-bearing element has not only a rotational degree of freedom, and can move back and forth along the axis of the steering column. This degree of freedom is controlled by an additional lever, which connects vertical support plate with the monoshock. The whole scheme is vaguely reminiscent of suspension BMW Telelever.
      2017 Honda Goldwing new suspension features
      This design allows to make the design of the suspension is very rigid in both the longitudinal and transverse planes, thus giving her some degree of freedom in the course. Unlike conventional lever designs, there is an element of the offset the wheels back (reduce the wheelbase) when the suspension is compressed, and the extra leverage coming from the brake caliper to the vertical support beam, provides anti-pecking effect.
      In addition to a higher level of rigidity compared to a telescopic fork, the use of monoshock on a heavy motorcycle opens new possibilities in exploitation of the electronic adjustment of the hydraulics suspension and even changing the clearance of the motorcycle (which is also already implemented on the designs of BMW).

    Hey Chris;
    Sorry if this is a repeat question for you but here goes:
    What wireless Sena product(s) would work best for me and a passenger on a 2015 Goldwing? I would like access to the full on-board Goldwing audio including the radio broadcast in stereo. Can it be done without buying 2 freewires, for instance - and is the 20S the best headset to use for rider and passenger?
    Thanks - love your ride videos and info. videos

      chris made another bluetooth install video. It is the bluetooth adapter from Electrical Connections (approx. 50 Dollars) if you like to listen to your phone's ea. Pandora from the radio speakers. It goes under the left glove box and is priceless. Otherwise get a modern bluetooth device and stream it from your phone directly into your helmet. That pin connector has really no use anymore in 2020...

    This is a great review my friend but the only problem is when you start listening to your music in your helmet you are not going to hear emergency vehicles that you may need to stop for because you cannot hear their sirens and that could be deadly especially if you are riding across their path.. where you live my friend is not in the big city where I live which is in Los Angeles California and there are always emergency vehicles running all over the place at any given time especially now with this covid-19 going on and truly need to hear that siren to know where they are and where they are approaching so that there is no Collision because you cannot hear the siren with the music coming inside of the helmet through both ears hear that is not lawful 2 use your helmet for music but only Communications...

    Chris, I really enjoy your Vlogs. This particular video has inspired me and I got to looking at the Sena site and various sites on the web and I’m going to wait September / October when the Sena FREEWIRE comes out. It’s important that I be able to TALK on the CB also. So will wait for the Freewire and also get the prism and 20S.
    QUESTION1: Which software do you use to make such excellent videos?
    Question 2: How do you make the various go pros seem so seamless with a single audio track ?

    • @chriscaliente5033
      @chriscaliente5033  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree, wait for the Freewire next month. All editing software is basically the same, but I pay for Wondershare, there are many free editing software programs out there. I just taught myself how to use it, and make Gopro video's seem seamless, it all in learning how to edit.

    hi Chris. thanks for the video. so basically, if my bride and I wanted to communicate, share music, navigation commands, share CB, receive phone calls etc. we would need : sena sm10 , two sena 20s, and the harness. correct?

    • @chriscaliente5033
      @chriscaliente5033  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You would need that SMH-10 harness, a SMH-10, and two 20's. But hold up don't buy anything. Next month Sena is coming out with a transmitter called the Free Wire, its looks just like the Sena SM10, you plug it into the 5 PIN DIN, and it will do access the Goldwing infotainment system including talking on the CB, you would just need the 20s. I will be making a video explaining it.

      I think, the newer Harley's with the navigation integrated into the $1845 "stereo", have bluetooth incorporated. Boom, replaced Harmon-Kardon as Harley's radio as you'll recall. There's also a cover on both sides of the fairing, which can be accessed, and your smartphone, slid in, and connected to an ipod connection.

    the sena 20A system is over priced at $500 .I found another system marked down from $150 to $98 that are blue tooth' receive and make calls awesome Bluetooth your media system that you can add instead of the 6 CD changer and load up 10,000 songs on the thumb drive that will play perfectly through your system and you can pair up to 6 Riders they also have a distance of 500 meters before they disconnect between motorcycles. They're SCS-ETS regularly $159 markdown on Amazon to$ 89 each and they are not cumbersome inside full face helmet no external antennas to break off and will support GPS as well AZ phone and multimedia system. sounds like a good price to me and for an extra $30 you have 2 year warranty backup all the reviews I read on or off by star

      Your are referring to the SCS ETC Motorcycle Bluetooth Headset, that doesn't bluetooth your Goldwing, but it's a cheaper wireless helmet headset for distances up to 500 meters or 0.5 kilometers of 6 riders compared to Sena's 20s distance of 2.0 km (1.2 miles) connecting 8 riders, universal paring to connect none Sena headsets together, voice commands, firmware upgradable, FM radio, MP3 direct connect, and advanced noise control, which is why my audio is so clean, but Sena has too many features to list. I'm not knocking the SCS ETC headsets, but remember you pay for what you get, cheaper isn't always better. Here is a link th-cam.com/video/1RVZjjF9jaA/w-d-xo.html

      +Chris Caliente thanks Chris I subscribe to RevZilla years ago,my point being it depends on how much real riding you do and how often you can do it in my case they have $1,000 invested it's something I'd use seasonally is not worth it to me.

    Hello Chris,
    I'm Manfred from Germany and drive a Goldwing SC68.
    I would like to switch from cable intercom to Bluetooth.
    Now I have seen some videos of you and especially the video with the Sena BT dongle. The cables that are inserted into the intercom system are built by you, or from a shop?
    Can you transfer radio, MP3 and Navi messages to the BT headsets with this Sena BT adapter? I heard in your video that the transmission is only in mono?!? Does this apply only to the radio or to the MP3 stick too?
    Is this Sena Adapter SR10 then the only adapter or do I need another adapter?
    It would be very nice if you answer me briefly and can give me more tips if necessary. I would like to change from the cable connection to BT connection.
    Thanks in advance and have a nice weekend.
    greeting
    Manfred from Remscheid near Cologne.

    Chris, is it possible to play the music that I have on my phone thru the Goldwings stereo system via bluetooth? I live in Florida and helmets are not required so I'm not worried about the wireless helmet...I just want to hear my phones music thru the bike's stereo system. Thanks

    Sierra sold me a shitty sat radio base for my Wing. It sucks, the radio pops out when u hit a bump. They were not very helpful. They told me they were going out of business. Why bluetooth when u have hardwire. It's not like u need to be connected when u move away from the bike.

    • @D_in_DC

      jomara68 No. My Ultra Limited has a Bluetooth connection to my phone. My helmet is connected to the bike. At that point, the Bluetooth works just like it does in my car. I can even have text messages display on the screen, but I don't use that option. I've never tried to setup a Bluetooth headset. Never needed it. My understanding is that Goldwings don't have any Bluetooth.
