Thanks for answering so many questions! I for sure see you more similar to civvie ( who I also love ) than grim or anyone else. Its almost a review and commented playthrough at the same time without dipping too far into either.
I really don’t get the comparison to grim; I find grim’s presentation abrasive and more skit based while this channel is much more comfy and conversational.

1:32:09 If you like Raidou Kuzunoha, I'm surprised that you didn't mention the Digital Devil Saga series. There are 2 of them, also on the PS2, and basically an SMT series with fixed party member. Pretty neat story too, leaning a bit heavy to the Hindu mythology.
Oh and love your channel dude, I subbed after watching your Cosmology of Kyoto video and been vibin in the dungeon ever since.
I’ve never played the DDS games, but since you mentioned they have a consistent party it makes me want to check them out. 👍

I remember there was a rumor that there was a way to bring back Aeris, I have no idea how many times i tried and couldn't get it to work. It was posted in the "official" guides on cheatcc and gamefaqs and it drove me crazy, I eventually wrote an email to Squaresoft and they responded in the nicest way possible that it was just a rumor. I was crushed, but i had a lot of respect for them as a company after that.
So I loaded up my gameshark and brought her back to life and I gotta tell you, she is USELESS late game. Completely ruined her for me.
The crazy thing is I do remember there is one cut scene on a hill or mountain in disk two where her avatar reacts if you have her in your party, but there is no dialogue.
Dungeon Chill sounds like one of those trendy nerd music styles like Vaporwave or the whole made up music flow chart found in the game Hypnospace Outlaw. I know I'm confusing it with Dungeon Synth.

btw i did manage to get the game inferno beyond the 7th circle somewhat recently (one of the dungeon crawlers you covered) and did try it for 20 min just for first impression and yeah i really like it and plan to play more. Raidou Kuzunoha is one of my favorite SMT games to i still need to beat 2 but the first game i loved. also have you ever gotten someone that mention the deception series to you before? well if not than im surprised i have not since its an all time favorite series of mine that started my interest for weird off the wall games haha

i usually leave pretty silly comments here and there as I've binged your content over the past few weeks but just wanted to say I really enjoy your work!! I really enjoy how....down to earth? chill? you are in your presentation and perspectives (ie not caring about if a game is "good" or defining what a game is) and also how you give a bit of the context of the development/team. not to parasocialize you or whatever but based on the non-game media you mention in passing (like italo calvino!! fiona apple!!!! less niche or whatever i guess but ffxiv!!!!), you just seem like you'd be a nice person to hang out with and chat with. or listen to talk, which is basically the channel hahaha basically the vibes are immaculate!! id listen to you talk about non-game stuff at the drop of hat! like this specific video actually but also especially re: translation! im also multilingual and yeah it's harddddddd. so yeah thanks for all your hard work last year, and I'm looking forward to catching up with and keeping up with what you put out from now! it's been extra cool hearing the list of dungeon architects and connoisseurs expand as i progress through your library, well and truly deserved!

Also, while you aren't much for talking about it on here, I agree with the asker that you seem like a person who would very much enjoy Vermis. Plastiboo basically made what are source and lore books/rule books for a fake game system called Vermis. Lots of cool illustrations and lore in the books.
Similar concept to Leon Chang's Bird World OSTs for a game that does not exist.
regarding the person who mentioned Vermis by plastiboo: The first book in the series is like a game guide for a soulslike game that doesn't exist, full of eerie and melancholic art and hints at things about the worldbuilding you can only guess at. The second reads more like a second person journal of a dungeon delver. Really neat!

I know I'm late to this video, but I agree 100% with the Shin Megami Tensei game stuff. I love rpgs/Jrpgs and its almost the exclusive game genre I play, I just can't do monster capture type stuff or things like that give me party members and characters I can get to know. Also just got to say I had a bear attack me at the same point dude! I tell people about it all the time if Red Dead is Brought up. Anyway keep it up dude love the Channel.
I feel like it would be a longer experience to commit to... but I am DYING (oh no) for you to cover Sunless Sea or Sunless Skies.

Hob is a pretty short game worth adding to your list. No dialogue or text through the whole game make the story telling interesting.
One time i was really excited for a party so I drank milk and tequila ona dare and threw up on myself and spent an hour in my friends shower. They put me to bed and I had a good nights rest.

37:28 my first gaming console was the GameCube when I was like 2 or 3, and the game I would play on there the most (mainly cause it was the only game I had) was this Godzilla game I honestly forget the name of it it’s been since I was 2 or 3 since I played it but my (first) favorite game wouldn’t come around until I was in about the 3rd grade on my ps2 and it was Resident Evil 2, it honestly shaped what I enjoy playing to this day and gave me my love for pretty much everything gaming related. It’s hard to pick a favorite game but that was fine for the longest time.
I found your gem of a channel through your Baroque video and then started checking your other video. Dungeon Chill is such a fitting name for your channel bcs I find your voice is so soothing and made me stay with your videos even though I have no interest with horror games (I do have a soft spot for obscure games but I never play those games myself). I'm very excited to hear your plan of covering Raidou games! The game is so underrated and I'm so happy when I hear you like Raidou games despite not very fond with SMT in general. Gonna rewatch some of your videos to accompany me while grinding RPG games
Huh, no wonder I thought you sounded like you were from PA. Been digging your content, same as far as being a 2nd half of the 80s Millennial.
The game I want to live in most is probably Norwood Suite and that whole Off Peak universe. I could see working in that hotel for room and board with all it's secret entrances and talking to all it's unique surreal characters. I would least want to live in the world of Balder's Gate 3, where everyone is super gay feminist woke, nobody is remotely likeable, and the likelihood of being molested by an animal is high. It's a world where you regularly get pulled out of your own attempts to forge a destiny and into a bunch of contrived cut scenes and sickening dramas designed to force you to think as the writers do.
Also Shining Force EXA rulessss, one of my fav PS2 games but never met somebody else that’s played it

Hey i'm still fairly new around here but have been watching a lot lately. I wanted to say I appreciate videos like this and getting to know the person behind what we often think of as "channels." I have had social anxiety and it kinda sounds like you had some when coming up with the name. I think DungeonChill is a great name, it can also be shortened to "Dunge" or "DChill." Both of which are pretty neat sounding imo.

Well you actually write down suggestions? I know your channel has grown quite a bit since this video haha but here I go.
- Juggernaut - Really really bizarre myst style adventure game but with limited puzzles and a very haunting and unsettling atmosphere. I'm taken by the 3D artstyle and the weird themes
- Makken X - Action game on the dreamcast with a headdy sci-fi story where you take over other people's bodies, reminds me of galerians most of what you've covered
- Amber: Journey's Beyond - Really unique ghost story, I played when I was young and the imagery has stuck with me for years (available on collection chamber iirc)
- Morbid (Mobid?) - Korean horror adventure windows game with no dialogue. Literally nobody is talking about it and I got stuck while trying to play it but I did get it running

I’ve played all the Saga games. I’m a big fan of the series actually! Minstrel Song and Scarlet Grace are my favorites. I thought RS2’s generational system was really cool.
