    If you buy today's gear through my affiliate links, after clicking the ACTUAL link, you'll now have what is known as buyer's remorse for not getting the Canon T3i instead. And just to clarify, the youtuber clones I poked fun at today don't make bad videos. They just seem to be part of a template cult that makes the same format of video and there are 100's of them every new camera release. Each video is good on its own, until you realize that everyone else made the same exact spec sheet reading video. It gets repetitive fast, add something unique to the formula you hobos :)

      Camera Conspiracies - most viewers are on mobile and the youtube app has a built in web browser and the links all open in the youtube web browser, where obviously nobody is logged in, so it's really a hassle these days. I face the same issue.

    I come from a scientific background, but I have to tell you I appreciate your "reviews" more than anything as a) you are honest and b) you try to identify the weaknesses. Of course you are also entertaining and you are the only channel that I look forward to watching every day. Dont apologise about what you do, you are doing great job, there is method in the madness, there is depth and quality in what you do and at the same time you make us smile. Keep doing what you do and being yourself.

    I'd say camera conspiracy review often reveals something no one else does. I used to just watch it for comedy. But once I started actually paying attention to the footage, he actually shows a lot of interesting stuff, just requires real attention because it's all hidden behind the sarcasm and humor.

    Totally agree about the bit rates and the codecs. Each of my videos requires 150-200 landscape shots (videos). Ideally, I should use vlog and the highest possible bit rate to maximise dynamic range and give more scope for colour grading. In reality, I use 8 bit, 100mbs and H.264. Vlog is a nightmare to shoot with and edit. H.265 kills editing performance and ProRes has ridiculously large file sizes which are a nightmare to manage. For this reason nearly all TH-camrs use 8 bit, 100mbs and H.264.

    This video is gold! Kasey stopping the video, running down the street to pull fire alarms and use pay phones to dial 911 to get more and more siren activity.. 🙂 "....this is just a scrambled mess of awkwardness..." LOL! Dude, you deserve far more subs that you have. I don't understand how people get pissed at you. Your channel info clearly states that it's first and foremost a comedy channel. Seriously, you're style is so much fun. And, you give time to many brands. I love how you use a new device for a while without saying anything then show that footage once you get to a review video. Keep up the fun style. BTW, Ken's brutally honest style has befallen many products over the years, not just the XH-2S. Have a great weekend!

    Your real-world view camera reviews centered around the 5K Toronto world you live in really show the "real user" what to expect with their camera of choice in an extremely entertaining, non-biased way that is 100% genuine. I showed 4 others your videos at work, and after watching "Camera Gear Addiction" they immediately became fans. Well, one fell back into rehab for his Meth habit, but 3 others subscribed. Seriously Kasey, as others below have said, keep doing what you do!

    I feel the exact same way! So many “reviews” are the same - this thing is awesome, this is a must buy, yada yada. Everyone is afraid to speak honestly about the products they are reviewing for fear that they will lose their coveted status with the camera manufacturers.
    Not surprised at all that you are having a difficult time selling the H2s. Quite simply, it’s overpriced for what it is. The average Fuji user does not care about any of the advanced features and it’s missing the manual controls. Real world AF performance is certainly better than T4, but still not as good as Sony or Canon. Had they developed a new AF system that performed as good or better than the competition, the camera would have been a huge hit. Unfortunately, Fuji just didn’t deliver on expectations, at least not in video mode.
    Keep doing what your doing Kasey - we all appreciate you!!

    Excellent video, Kasey. Funny as usual, plus very valid points about TH-camrs. Problems I'm guilty of myself. I've decided to start filming more of my TH-cam videos in 8-bit HD. The filmmaker in me lead me to shooting everything in 4K 10-bit. Which only slows down my post production. For actual film projects, that's fine. But, for videos intended to be viewed on TH-cam, it's overkill. Have a great weekend. And thanks for the inspiration.

    I love this wavelength, this is how everyone should talk. As if the general absurdist humor wasn't enough, every now and then we are gifted solid gold, burst out laughing comedy. That comment about "the mitakon days," training the eye to perceive missed focus of the ear killed me! Looking at that ProRes footage the blacks look really dark and the brights seem to clip faster than the other footage
    Which makes me wonder
    Ive been using sony for years, recording externally to atomos for prores
    There is a quirk when using that combo where the external prores footage has messed up contrast/saturation so the brights blow out and the dark get crushed when compared to the non-prores footage
    The issue is the prores doesnt save metadata to tell the editing software whether its a full or limited data signal
    In davinci Resolve i have to right click the footage>clip attributes>data levels 'full' to restore the prores to normal
    I wonder if the fuji has this same issue when recording to prores internally

    The great thing thats sets people like you and Markuspix apart is that you don't have pink and purple backgrounds. Every damn video that I see has pink and purple backgrounds and it drives me nuts. Like a clone army. Your originality and humour is what makes you different. Keep going!

    There are other applications the 422 high bit rate would make sense, but in day to day use of a vlogger, I don't see any difference. I like your real world reviews

    The only people who We are impressing are other picky users. The ‘every day’ people could care less about shadow details or slight softness of the corners. My followers don’t look at my photos and say “You probably captured this image with a $2,500 lens.” I’ve had other photographers get upset as I tell them my photos come from Nikon Z5 when they’re expecting me to say something like a Nikon Z7 II or Sony A7 VI. We are too worried about what other users think rather than focusing on what a customer wants. Not to mention too worried about what a TH-camr thinks about their camera. OH MY GOD!!! HE’S TALKING SHIT ABOUT MY CAMERA!!! 🙄😒
    As always… great content. Thank you

    It’s painfully obvious that you’ve updated your a7siii to the new firmware because it now has a yellow tint. I have to color grade the hell out of everything now. No more straight out of camera footage from now on. Not unless I want everyone and everything to look like the baby sun from teletubbies.
    Thanks Sony for adopting you’re own crippling system for your flagship cameras.
    I swear I’m thinking of switching to the a1. That way Sony will quit screwing up my camera to make it worse than the fx3 so people can feel good about spending the extra 500 bucks.
    End of rant. Until next time

    QUESTION: who would win in a mud wrestling match: camera conspiracies vs fototripper?
    I might have bet on kasey, but the slippery mud evens out strength advantage. 😳

  • @peoplez129
    @peoplez129 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Hate to break it to you Kasey, but the reason why no one wants your XH2S is because you're selling it for the same price that people can buy it brand new. $3,300 CAD is $2500 USD. And $2500 USD is what the XH2S sells for brand new. Although I'd definitely trust to buy it from you over other used sellers, and it's obviously practically unused. Maybe throw in a Fuji lens you don't need for a good deal if you have one and that might help sell it. Some people just want turn key, where they don't need to worry about searching for a separate lens, they just want to get into the Fuji system and start shooting out of the box as long as it's a decent usable lens.
    I think the real problem with people buying such a new camera used, is that they might fear the owner is selling it because they did something to it, like dropped it on accident and then realized "Oh crap I just messed up my brand new camera! Here let me sell it real quick so I don't have to eat this expensive loss". Or they'll think "Well it's brand new and this guy is selling it, he clearly doesn't like it, so there has to be something he doesn't like about it". And well you did make a video trashing it, so if they watch your video on it, then they might not want it lol.
    Also the pictures you used for the listing aren't great. They look like you just quickly snapped a couple random shots with your phone. You should do every angle in studio quality shots so that the camera looks immaculate.
    Here's an idea...maybe even offer an autograph with gear you sell. Like some kind of fancy sturdy sticker badge made (that can be removed without issue, or separately that can be placed by the buyer if they choose) that goes on the body somewhere prominent but innocuous that doesn't interfere with the usage, with a fancy autograph of your name and/or the channel name on it that, like black with gray marker. Doesn't have to be hand signed, could be printed or engraved. But just something a person could show off and say "See I got this from the camera conspiracies guy!".
    You could order up a bunch of those for very cheap, to put on or include with gear you sell. Or even make it as simple as made with a sturdy label printer, that way it could even be stuck to lenses. I could imagine like a sturdy black label with some beveled white writing that just simply says "CAMERA CONSPIRACIES", using something like the X-files typewriter font, maybe even with a picture of the channel icon on it.
    You could even joke around and add a small 2x3 or 4x6 portrait of you hand signed with something like "Kasey loves you". Just a whole little fun package of goodies to go with the gear for the buyer. Would cost almost nothing, but add unique value. So you can add all 3 in a separate little bag put into the box. A little engraved metal sticker badge of the channel name and/or icon, a beveled font label with channel name, and a hand signed autographed portrait.

      It's $3616 CAD new here, American prices don't tell you anything because you obviously have to import it into the country for a customs fee.

    • @peoplez129
      @peoplez129 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@cameraconspiracies That's true. But a lot of people like to get around the customs fee, so they'll just drive over and back without saying a thing. Also keep in mind that the warranty only applies to the original buyer. This is explicitly stated in Fuji's warranty policy. So even if someone were to buy your camera, it technically comes with zero warranty. So if anything happens to it that would be covered under warranty, they're screwed. At that point, paying even a bit more for the peace of mind would not be unreasonable to most people.

    The video quality in cameras has peaked for the most part over the past few years. You really can't go wrong with most modern hybrid cameras. Even the 8bit codecs are so robust you would struggle to find the difference in most respects in a project timeline.

    • @JetBen555
      @JetBen555 2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      10bit really does improve dynamic range though, you can't really see it in a studio but if you vlogg outside it makes a big difference

    • @kevinbatts2804
      @kevinbatts2804 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JetBen555 absolutely I would prefer 10 and 12 bit color but given proper exposure and WB are accurate most 8bit codecs will easily mix in most projects. From what I’ve seen 8bit is just less forgiving.

    • @itswrongtokillanimalsifyou2837

      As with RAW vs jpeg, the quality difference becomes apparent only when you start grading.

    • @MarkusFinholt
      @MarkusFinholt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JetBen555 10bit literally does not change the dynamic range what so ever. It's just the gradients between the shades. 10-bit is useful when recording in heavy logarithmic formats so you don't get banding. That's it.
