The friendship test is actually really important for self-defense. Because the enemy you face today could be the friend you fight alongside tomorrow, and if they're an unreliable friend, you could be not self-defending when you absolutely need to self-defend just because that friend said it was ok.
I used to run this build with the old Dark Harvest, you could insta-kill any squishie and bruiser, in the lategame you were able to erase 1/3 of the HP of a full-tank enemy. I miss you so much, old DH.
The friendship test also works in reverse. You get targeted by a Cait ult but you don't want to die, so you flash to pawn it off on your friend who is also low on health and they die instead. Cause that's what friends do.
