I cried a few times listening to the album and then listening to two people talk about it made me teary eyed again. Love the album and I love my mom and my girlfriend.
thank you for covering this one, i got to see porter live at edc 2022 ever since following him from 'worlds', after being overstimulated for like 8 hours on certain mind altering substances, i found myself at his set and completely felt safe and at home, +the virtual self set at the end was the cherry on top also hope y'all make merch i would buy it in a heartbeat!
Holy shit I grew up listening to Worlds by Porter Robinson. Worlds changed me fr fr, shit was ethereal. I should revisit his stuff and look into this album.
Absolutely look into this one. It’s more personal and the emotions are so much stronger in this one (tho I’m probably biased since I heard nurture first)
I'm realizing more and more that this is one of my favorite albums ever. I love every song, deliberating on such real thoughts and emotions of growth and acceptance. It reminds me that life, and the world we live in, is beautiful and special. Thanks y'all for talking about it
such an awesome sauce episode! I especially love the part where they start complementing each other at the end of the episode, but not as much as Dying Fetus' "Make Them Beg For Death"!
AAAAAA OMG EPIC STYLE!!! nurtures legit one of my favorite albums ever made i love it so much! thank u guys for being so swag about music and posting (and music posting) :3
I smiled every time you guys said you wanted to see Porter live. I saw him on a whim in 2022, after my friend gave me tickets because they just couldn’t make it last minute. I wasn’t too familiar with Porter’s work but that was the best concert I’ve ever experienced. If anyone ever gets the chance to see him live, don’t miss out!
Loved this pod. I never listened to porter before and so hearing the messages is kinda comforting in a way, i think i will keep many of the messages you two highlighted in my head for the rest of my life :)
Thank you so much for posting this album, Blossom is one of the most meaningful and influential songs that I have ever listened to. It reminds me of my friends very much and it's such a comforting tune
i saw his second last show of the nurture tour down in melbourne where i live and it was genuinely one of the most life affirming experiences of my life. PLEASE see him live if you're able to. all of the songs are so fantastic live and he weaves in his older stuff perfectly.. especially unfold i teared up hearing that live
omgg i love porter ive been following him since 2015 since he made worlds. i loveddd the album and his live shows and the shelter tour he did with madeon super glad you guys are reviewing this one!
I forgot to comment on the last video, officially breaking my CAR SEAT HEADREST promotional streak! Mainly because I actually took the time to listen to a few of the albums you two brought up, namely Javelin, SCARING THE HOES, softscars (& of course, dissident blue!) I threw in a little channel orange in there for the first time because I was curious as to why Alex liked Ocean so much!!! Definitely not all of the tracks were for me but this podcast gave me the outlet to actually explore music and Conciously listen to it, which I think is really cool!!! This has easily climbed up to be one of my favorite podcasts & it pushes me to interact with music in ways I hadn't before. I still think it'd be fire if you did an episode on CAR SEAT HEADREST's TWIN FANTASY but I'm very proud of how Music Posting has turned out so far. Kudos!
Whenever you two upload a new Music Posting episode, I go and listen to the album before I listen to these. It’s been really fun to explore new genres of music I’m unfamiliar with and to hear both of your opinions and thoughts about it!
yes!!!! Porter is one of my production idols since i was a teen, but he fell off my radar for a while too. When he released like 6 singles over the course of a year i was afraid the rest of the album wouldn't live up to them. luckily this didn't happen and it ended up being super consistent and full of pleasant surprises. I admit it took a few listens until i fully grasped how good it is. In terms of style, it feels like a more mature and "alternative"? update to his signature Worlds sound. like, now there are elements of folk, glitch and singersongwriter stuff? Overall, the songwriting, production and sound design are amazing. Everything is incredibly rich melodically. the song structures are really cool, featuring many different parts and moments, as well as very dense and layered arrangements. it explores a lot of possibilities and ideas in each track, making them engaging and fun to listen to. All the little production details and glitchy-ambient-ear-candy-sound-textural-fuckery moments make it super interesting, i could listen to an entire album in the style of wind tempos or dullscythe (it exists! it's called nascent by alexander panos). it's also crazy to hear his impact on the sound of soundcloud EDM every single time he drops something new.
it would be unfortunate if both of you haven't watched his nurture live show cause porter has already retired the nurture era, but i highly recommend you both to experience his dj set!
Second time listening to a new album because of this pod lol. I’ve heard of this artist because my Secondary School Media School teacher used to play Sad Machine in class lol After the listen…Wow! Beautiful piece of art! I already adore Electropop/EDM so I’m so glad I listened to this! The lyrics are so touching and really reminds me that I’m talented and inspire me to keep going which was great as today I worked on editing a vid which made me feel great finishing it; moving onto other projects (I really need to upload again TH-cam is fun). My only critique really is that I think it started off way stronger, with the middle not being as good but the end getting better again. 8.5/10 I need to buy the CD soon! Time to watch the podcast now.
Hey I love the podcast so far! listening to you guys is my new way to find good music. also I would love it so much if you guys would review preachers daughter by ethel cain. That is one of my favorite albums of all time.
i don't know if i'm reading too much into it but it sounds like Astrid has started doing a bit of vocal training, if so I'm very very proud of her putting in sm effort
Only listened to musician before Listened to the album in preparation so I’m up to date with the pod 😅 Didn’t actively listen to it tho as I’m studying, but it definitely serves as good study music let me tell you Great vibes
Can I recommend glass beach's new record plastic death for a conversation on here? Not sure if you've heard their first one, I can see it really dividing their fanbase since it's a far cry from the emo stuff they started with on the that album. They pivoted to a more prog rock sound.
pretty sure it isnt really in any of your radars but glass beach's newly dropped album, plastic death, has started off the year with some of the best queer art rock i've heard in years, i think it would be a cool album for yall to cover
Hello fellow music listeners! If you like weird and insane sound design focused music, I highly recommend the album "A Fragmented Love Story, Written By The Infinite Helix Architect" by Little Snake. If you want to learn more about what went into its creation, there is a great podcast that Little Snake did with this guy Mr. Bill where they discuss the sound design and emotional content of what went into the creation of the album :)
