Hi, found this when going through Trout Tornados vids (which are great by the way) and liked both of these pod casts that you have made and loved the discussions around flytying and flyfishing. Great ideas and instructions. But one thing which I have to take on, is the discussion about the commercial that is around flytying and flyfishing. I agree that there is to much of commercial tyers/fishers that do try to sell stuff, but on the other hand it is also great that somebody is doing the testing for example a rod or some specific ”new” tying material, as it might be so that other wise those wont sell (which is obvious ;)) but on the other hand, people would not even start to think that, Oh I could try do the same with this subtitute material for example. So in this it is a two bladed sword.
But what I totally agree is that there is to much of that commercial selling style stuff around the interweb, hence appreciate a lot what Trout Tornado is doing (high five) and would like to have same minded people doing the same. So what IM after here is that without precenting/showing stuff, people would not find new ideas or ways of changing their tying, fishing etc. But what people should really be encouraged to do is to think purchase things what really suits them (it might be a reel, rod or pair of scissors, thread or dubbing) and supports their style of tying/fishing instead of just pushing them to buy something that they really can live without, basically buy what helps and makes your life easier and not the newest tweaked thing just for the kicks. So in short, people should be encouraged to buy only what they need, not what they might need. So big hand to you Trout Tornado, keep doing what youre doing!
