This was one of the annoying things I found, not because I don't like realism but because I was so used to GTA where nobody gives a shit if you speed. It got obnoxious having to spend extra time driving carefully. But I'd take it any day over how stupid GTA (especially V) gets.
The car physics and the cops that stop you are a nice attention to detail factor, however I did find it annoying when during missions if I was trying to chase someone or get somewhere fast I was constantly getting shot by police or chased. I had to restart multiple times and it ticked me off.
*There is also another great detail: If you hit a police car in a low speed or when parking, the police won't arrest you but if you hit them deliberately, they will try to chase you down and arrest you. Actually better than GTA Police.*
The reason why this game is so good is that it came out at a time when a very high percentage of developers/game companies actually cared about the quality of the game they were releasing, not just releasing it for the sole purpose of a cash grab, I had an absolute blast playing this back when it first released and now in the remaster, I do wish it had the same graphics as the Mafia 1 remake though but it still holds up exceptionally well, I'm determined to 100% it again.
It would’ve stayed this way if publishers stopped giving less and less time for developers to finish their projects. the COD franchise is the WORSE example of this, no one cares anymore, both the consumer and the developers/publishers. Everyone will buy the new hot game, see how horrible it is, complain and say “I’m never gonna buy another game from them again” and they’ll end up buying the next game in the series anyways. imo 2042 was the last straw, everything leading up to 2042 was just a letdown, and 2042 was meant as one last chance

It was speculated that the online mode was supposed to be a huge open world cops and robbers mode. If the game released in the Xbox one and PS4 first, maybe the physics from GTA 4 would’ve stayed, maybe there would’ve been more party jobs on release like Cops N Crooks.
Imagine what Mafia 3 could have been if it wasn’t rushed the way it was (and if it wasn’t made by a completed different studio that has never made any game before Mafia 3)
Btw Mafia 2 was also rushed Like REALLY rushed, 60% of its content was cut because of those asshole publishers wanted to get the game out on specific time so they had to cut ALOT of content. But that isn't to say that Mafia 2 was bad the game was still pretty freaking good, but it's just a shame that the game had the potential to been better.
I thought mafia 3 was good but robbing gas stations and other places were too easy cause all you do is just slam them into the ground or haymaker them and that's it but I can't get over on how funny it is to slam guys into the concrete though 😂😂

The car in front of me stopped for a hair to not get hit by him, but I was looking at that idiot in the right and not pay attention so when I looked again to the front, I was very close to the car and I had to brake hard, maked a front wheelie crashing with my left shoulder in the rear windshield. Fortunately didn't get harm but I made a little "ditch" with the round tip of brake lever in the rear hood. And to make matters worse, the day after in a narrow one-way road, a lady was going in the wrong direction following GPS's instruction and nearly hit me, and here I was at 50/55 kph (31/34mph ca.). Man I still have the game. This was the game that got me into old cars, classic music and to enjoy what I have before it's gone. This game was heavily underrated and I'm glad you recognized how good it really is, especially for when it came out too.
The main theme is still nostalgic. I still remember coming home from a long day of school and I would come home do my homework and then just sit at the menu until the theme ended then I would continue my game.

Joes fate being left as a cliffhanger (yes I know he lived and had to cut off all contact w/ Vito or risk being whacked at any moment and so Vito thinks that Joes dead b/c I played mafia 3) just didn’t sit right w/ me and I remember when I went through the game again on hard to get the 100 gamer score achievement. I was like I wonder if there’s an Easter egg exclusively just for hard mode where like if you go to the house to where Joe is taken b4 going to kill Carlo maybe Leo’s guys would be there and Vito could kill them and make it easier for Joe later that afternoon to fight for his life so like a second ending where like maybe we’d even play as Joe and kill Leo’s guys then track down Leo’s limo and kill Leo and rescue Vito.
Vito's slick ass responses to everything just makes this hilarious. The amount of detail in this game is what made me have countless amounts of fun in the demo before actually acquiring the full game. I spent probably close to 100 hours in the demo alone

I heard about this game for the first time when mafia 3 was announced. I finished it in a heartbeat and played again instantly. It was so amazing, so realistic and believable, I was even more stoked for mafia 3. Then it came out... I played it for 2 hours before uninstalling.
The gameplay loop gets really, really boring after a bit but man, you gotta try it again because the story is fucking amazing. Donovan and Clay's chemistry alone are more than enough to carry the rest of it.
The story might be the best ever, the gameplay is not what I find enjoyable, so it would only be a chore. But if the story is as good as you're all saying, maybe I'll watch a walk-through sometime then

They imposed to developers to respect game launch date, so devs had to cut many contents. So this is why the game is that short too. other details: 1.rain can wash your dirty car 2.the police will ask you an id if you bump them 3 times. 3.people will greet you if come near them (chapter 2) 4.shattered windshield physics (if you turn the physx on) 5.you can repair your car. 6.npc's activities (fixing car, reading newspaper, working, fishing, etc) 7.if you come near kingston stadium, you can actually heard the crowd.
I played this game from start to finish non-stop and did not get bored. It made me feel like I was playing in a well written movie. And the details of this game still amaze me after all this time. One of the best games I've played.
I still enjoyed the third game. Great story, great atmosphere, tight action. It wasn't as detailed or as polished as the predecessors, but still a good game.
Just 2 days ago I finished this game, What a masterpiece it was and some of the details that I noticed. *In hot rods their radiator fan rotates according to revv/gas. *Tyres of car reacts(expands and bounces) according to surface of road/pavement *Valves of air dam regulates according to revvs of engine. *Dropping of wheel cover while rush driving. *Player can open car hood and trunk. *Car can runs out of fuel and need to be filled but they have long range so it won't be frustrating. *Other vehicle will give you side while honking especially on highway.

But Mafia 3 doesn't even have Czech dubbing and has nothing to do with Daniel Vávra (the main guy who made Mafia 1 and 2). Also 2k Czech was located in Brno which is a Czech city. But for Mafia 3 they created a studio called Hangar 13 (I think) and it is somewhere in America (not sure where though)

Some of the biggest details in this game are in the opening hours and all the sense of progression you get and it ALL feels genuine. Being a solider, going back home trying to fit in, being locked up (one of the best prison life scenes i've seen in a game, they really let you live it out.) and getting out years later and everything including the season changes. I can't recall another game that did something like that!
They also mention you can keep going to Derek and Bruno for missions to add to cash but you never can which kinda sucks. I always felt like this game was rushed but at the same time it's my favorite game of all time so I can't really complain.
When i bought this game i just bought it because it was the second entry to the first one; then i realized how much detail was put into everything! What a surprize it was! A legend of a game!

My favorite detail: When you kill someone and step in their blood, you leave footprints. When the police respond and haven't seen you, they will follow the footprints until they end.

Well it was supposed to but it was cut along with an epilogue where Vito saves joe so this game could have literally been even greater if those where included (ps this game has a lot of cut content so you might want to check it out on other videos)
There is a little detail, some powerful cars, such as Hot Rods included in the DLC, can have a LSD (Limited Slip Differential) even in stock tune, but if you bought a sport tune (Lvl 2 tuning) for car like Ascot Bailey, the wheels will keep spinning. You need to do burnout, simply press and hold handbrake(Spacebar) with the accelerator(W), then release handbrake and press and hold brake(S). If the wheels stop spinning, the car have open differential. If the wheels keep spinning, the car have a LSD differential.
I miss when games put this much heart and soul into the smallest aspects as it honestly immerses you so much. Todays standard of this is something like the Witcher 3, a good game but has no were near the detail of the smaller aspects like this. Main feature of something equivalent which most games do now is 'Realistic Hair Growth'. Will miss this kind of detail.

again, not all. Rockstar intentionally has details overlooked by most. There was a mission in GTA 3 where you had to go kill a guy, and he'd run away in his car and you had to chase him. One player decided the mission was too hard, so he stole the dudes car before the mission even started, took it to a shop, put a remote bomb on the bottom of the car, returned it and started the mission. Then as the guy he was chasing got into the car, he blew it up and it worked. That's some attention to detail. So take that, times it by like 10 and you have a modern Rockstar game.

The amount of detail in this game is what made me have countless amounts of fun in the demo before actually acquiring the full game. I spent probably close to 100 hours in the demo alone

I heard about this game for the first time when mafia 3 was announced. I finished it in a heartbeat and played again instantly. It was so amazing, so realistic and believable, I was even more stoked for mafia 3. Then it came out... I played it for 2 hours before uninstalling.

The gameplay loop gets really, really boring after a bit but man, you gotta try it again because the story is fucking amazing. Donovan and Clay's chemistry alone are more than enough to carry the rest of it.
The story might be the best ever, the gameplay is not what I find enjoyable, so it would only be a chore. But if the story is as good as you're all saying, maybe I'll watch a walk-through sometime then

They imposed to developers to respect game launch date, so devs had to cut many contents. So this is why the game is that short too. But I think you can't tell this game is shit just cause you can't jump and doesn't like character's customization.

I played this game from start to finish non-stop and did not get bored. It made me feel like I was playing in a well written movie. And the details of this game still amaze me after all this time. One of the best games I've played.

Just 2 days ago I finished this game,
What a masterpiece it was and some of the details that I noticed.
*In hot rods their radiator fan rotates according to revv/gas.
*Tyres of car reacts(expands and bounces) according to surface of road/pavement
*Valves of air dam regulates according to revvs of engine.
*Dropping of wheel cover while rush driving.
*Player can open car hood and trunk.
*Car can runs out of fuel and need to be filled but they have long range so it won't be frustrating.
*Other vehicle will give you side while honking especially on highway.

A tiny detail: When you have to drive the drunks Joe and Eddie around you can see them in the car drunkenly swaying back and forth.
And you can let joe puke outside the car by stopping, if you don't he gets the car messed up

One time when I was following Luca Gurino in chapter 9, he bumped into a police car and got pulled over by the cops. I failed the mission because of it.

But Mafia 3 doesn't even have Czech dubbing and has nothing to do with Daniel Vávra (the main guy who made Mafia 1 and 2). Also 2k Czech was located in Brno which is a Czech city. But for Mafia 3 they created a studio called Hangar 13 (I think) and it is somewhere in America (not sure where though)

Some of the biggest details in this game are in the opening hours and all the sense of progression you get and it ALL feels genuine.
Being a solider, going back home trying to fit in, being locked up (one of the best prison life scenes i've seen in a game, they really let you live it out.) and getting out years later and everything including the season changes.
I can't recall another game that did something like that!
The sad part is that this game had more content but ended up cut :(

They also mention you can keep going to Derek and Bruno for missions to add to cash but you never can which kinda sucks. I always felt like this game was rushed but at the same time it's my favorite game of all time so I can't really complain.

To be honest, I felt they were pretty applicable, I can see Vito collecting and reading them adds a little more to his character.
My favorite detail: When you kill someone and step in their blood, you leave footprints. When the police respond and haven't seen you, they will follow the footprints until they end.
Without forgetting that tires actually bounce around and if the impact is hard enough, the hub cap will fall off in a realistic way

Such an underrated classic. This game on ps3 still holds up as the best mafia game even after the 3rd and remaster.
There is a little detail, some powerful cars, such as Hot Rods included in the DLC, can have a LSD (Limited Slip Differential) even in stock tune, but if you bought a sport tune (Lvl 2 tuning) for car like Ascot Bailey, the wheels will keep spinning.
You need to do burnout, simply press and hold handbrake(Spacebar) with the accelerator(W), then release handbrake and press and hold brake(S).
If the wheels stop spinning, the car have open differential.
If the wheels keep spinning, the car have a LSD differential.
Th3Sh3man there’s also soft tyre physics which change shape as you go over gutters and such.

I miss when games put this much heart and soul into the smallest aspects as it honestly immerses you so much. Todays standard of this is something like the Witcher 3, a good game but has no were near the detail of the smaller aspects like this. Main feature of something equivalent which most games do now is 'Realistic Hair Growth'. Will miss this kind of detail.

again, not all. Rockstar intentionally has details overlooked by most. There was a mission in GTA 3 where you had to go kill a guy, and he'd run away in his car and you had to chase him. One player decided the mission was too hard, so he stole the dudes car before the mission even started, took it to a shop, put a remote bomb on the bottom of the car, returned it and started the mission. Then as the guy he was chasing got into the car, he blew it up and it worked. That's some attention to detail. So take that, times it by like 10 and you have a modern Rockstar game.

This was one of my favorite games growing up. I can't even remember how many hours I put into it, I probably played through it half a dozen times! I could spend hours running around interacting with all of these tiny little details they put into the game. I can remember spending a considerable amount of time robbing the nice clothes stores with the big glass windows and trying to not get caught by the cashier.
