They did the ending the best way this time. Tommy didn’t get surprised, he knew exactly what they were there for. He actually got to see his family and say goodbye before he died. He’s still the best protagonist in the series in my opinion.
I actually did not like tommy as a protagonists he made the horrible decision to join the family even though it went against so many of his morals. He’s the reason things get so fked uppp!!
The old ending was less cliche and more realistic, though. A death with dignity also somewhat goes against the message of the original game, which was that crime doesn't pay and Tommy ultimately succumbed to his greed.
Yeah I didn't like the original games ending. He sounded suprised and like a coward. In the remake ending he sounds like he knew it was coming and just accepted his fate.
Damn. Tommy actually faced his end like a fucking man. He knew it was only a matter of time, and yet he made it last for as long as he wished. Damn great ending to a beautiful looking remaster.
@@Kyriakos095 and you don’t think killing Joe and Vito would get his family more into trouble than they already are?! Tommy knew that so long as he was dead, there was no more reason for anyone to target his family.

1:12:53 I feel like this is around when Tommy starts to question Salieri, theres a line at the barn shootout where Tommy says "what kinda man shoots a dog" and his face changes when Salieri says he did just that.
I love how we can basically see salieri start to go a little bit crazy and start acting like morello. Like how morello smashed in the boxer's head out of anger while he could have still made him money, and salieri doing the same to Carlo, when he could be figuring out everything Carlo ratted out about him. Also Tommy only shoots Sam when he mentions Paulie because he's appalled that Sam has the audacity to mention "The Good times" after he killed him.

I wonder what happened to Luigi after Tommy took the stand. There shouldn't be a reason for him to be prosecuted; he had already done his time in prison and was just the bartender after that. He couldn't probably contact Sarah because he might tell Salieri where they are.
I do miss some lines from the original (friendship...ain't worth shit) but overall a great expansion to the original storyline, that let's you know all the characters a lot better.
I really enjoyed this game. They did a great job with the definitive edition. Kudos to them. Bioware with the legendary edition and this one were really good remaster. They should make movies out of the stories from these games.
Honestly I'm think a Miniseries format would work better for most games. Yes when you reduce a game down to just cut scenes, many would match up to a movie in terms of length, but for so many games there's so much stuff between the cut scenes that are pretty important for a game's story and it's characters. It'd be like reading a book with half the pages missing, yes you might be able to get the general gist of it but you're still only seeing part of the whole. So something closer to say Arcane or Castlevania might be better (I mean in terms of number of episodes/episode length). Arcane especially feels applicable, multiple acts, split into "chapters" (aka episode), make each episode a little under an hour, seems like a set up that would work pretty well for Mafia, and most games in general I think.
@@somerandomschmuck2547 Plus, the gameplay with no extra objectives takes over 10 hours to complete. A lot of that would have to be cut to fit the 2 hour format most movies use today.

They did a very good job improving what needed to be touched up, but other than that, they did little else. They could've finally made this game bigger than what it was meant to be. Add more on top of what was there. It's just so linear when you're dealing with the mob. So many things you could talk about
I didn’t cry for Tommy’s death because the speech didn’t get through to me. In the original he talks about how HE made mistakes and so did Paulie or Sam. But then he just says “everything I did , I did for my family” like stfuuuu why did you rob the bank you idiot you thought you’d get away with it ?

Paulie is alright, apart from looking like Jimmy Fallon. But why do him and Sam look like they're brothers? Sam looks definitely more harmless and downright friendly at times (reminds me of Ross from Friends tbh) unlike the original hard-faced Sam. Despite all my efforts not to like the new Salieri, I can't help but to admit that he's really well portrayed, although I liked the bit older, more "casual granpda" vanilla Salieri. Ralphy, Frank, Det. Norman and Morello are especially well-portrayed. Gotta say, this got me intrigued, because I'm a stubborn boomer, but despite the main characters feel weird to me, maybe I'll give it a try regardless.
