    One of the things that frustrates me tends to be the price per model. For GW, ppm can vary widely, from only a couple bucks per model to a couple hundred for a single one.
    Either option can be difficult to get into, from models that feel overpriced on one side to needing to buy a printer and take the time to calibrate it on the other side.

    • @Habes
      @Habes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah you're right. A printer might be a good option for those expensive models like tanks etc.

    I have to add one disadvantage to 3D printing not mentioned here. I find 3D printed models a lot more brittle than the standard plastic used by GW. If you drop one, they are almost guaranteed to break in some way. This is improving over time. I've seen some pretty bendy resins, but haven't worked with them myself yet.

    • @Habes
      @Habes  ปีที่แล้ว

      That’s a fair point.
      I’ve had a few prints shatter after dropping them.
      They are now a bit sturdier but I’ve been playing around with resins and curing times to help their durability.

    Great points. For me (i print nearly everything at the moment) are the custom made armys what checks the boxes, nautic Sisters of battle here you go! complete droid Tau roger roger, self adjusted poses and modifications for truly unique Characters all i possible but it comes with a heavy time invest wich wont be worth for only a generic warhammer army even if it may be cheaper.

    You make some great points. Customer service from both ends has been great for me. The only disadvantage I've had with customer service from printing is replacement parts being shipped and wait times of 4 to 6 weeks.
    Resale of GW miniatures is great compared to printing, and yes, value is often retained (and in some cases, greater than RRP...hello Space Crusade). It's probably why I not only print, but also buy GW eBay rescues to repaint and either add to my own armies or resell.

    • @Habes
      @Habes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks Lemontang. Also great to hear from you.
      From what you said, it's highlighted the point that it's not exclusively you either 3d print or buy models. Doing both is also valid.

    Me personally you have some points but at same time I gotta disagree
    1.the resin is decent priced I get a water washable type that's low in smell due to my animals I got
    2 a 30 dollar bottle of resin I can literally print a battle box n save money
    3 you find the right people in hobby you can get some actual gw stl

    I've been 3d printing for the last 2 years.. I rarely get fails, I rarely have spills, I have space and ventilation.. I get to print what I want when I want. I don't need GW customer service in one 30 years of buying crap from them I've needed it only 3 times due to damaged or missing goods out of the box. 3d printing is not for people who just want a brainless out of the box experience but for people already invested in the hobby its a definitely a cost-effective solution particularly like me if you no longer play GW rules. Your issues are personal ones I get it, good for you

      It's also for people who have friends who enjoy printing but not warhammer. I have my boss from work printing terrain and vehicles for me like crazy right now. He's doing it cheap and fast too. Just brought me a chapter champion and a brutalis dreadnought this morning. They came out great, just needs cleaned up a bit but it shouldn't take more effort than what it does to clean the plastic nubs off the models when they come off the runners.

    The points that are actually true are the 5.5 and the 6. Resin Printers ARE NOT so difficult to use, you had to be not clumsy and we are talking of people that paint minis

    • @Habes
      @Habes  ปีที่แล้ว

      I agree that resin printers are not difficult to use for most people. But the stuff I see some people post in beginners printing groups makes me think 3d printing isn't for everyone.

  • @Blaxkleric

    Don't agree with much you have to say here. But having watched some of your vids about your 3D printing experiences I can see why you've become so disillusioned with the hobby. Why don't you give water washable resin a try..? Its far less messy imho, and easy to clean up if you do have a spill.

    • @Habes
      @Habes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the tip. I've tried water washable but I think I'll stick with ABS like as I prefer the process at this point in time.
      I'm definitely still a huge advocate for 3d printing.
      Thanks for disagreeing but not being a jerk about it.

  • @Thorrk_THT
    @Thorrk_THT ปีที่แล้ว

    You are listing quite a few "far-fetched" disadvantages of 3d printing while missing the elephant in the room: SPACE. 3d printing requires a dedicated space with stable temperature, proper ventilation, and properly leveled shelves to put your printer, curing and washing station.
    Most people live in tiny apartments often with flatmates. Those people who represent the majority simply can't get into 3d printing.

    • @Habes
      @Habes  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I overlooked that one. I've mentioned it in some other videos but forgot it for this one.
      Thanks for pointing it out :)

    • @JohnnyWad309

      Maybe they can save some money and buy a home if they weren't wasting so much money on overpriced GW models. Buying a home is usually cheaper than renting anyway and I'm not sure how a person can bring themselves to buy an apartment or condo. I've never met a single person in the last 22 years of adulthood who bought a condo and didn't regret it.

  • @walterstarr1588

    Yeah, I have no reason to buy GW minis. I play One Page Rules and won't play any GW rules because they haven't been worth playing in like 2 decades. So I don't agree with even one of your reasons.🙂

    you are making a huge mistake with all your assumptions..you BUY a printer ONCE..you set it up ONCE..once set up .,.a bottle of resin is enough to print a 1000points army!(so less than that army would cost at GW even with buying a printer)
    especially GW minnies are way overpriced..
    support of all major Printer builders is pretty much awsome (elegooo/anycubic and co.)..and if you are just a little bit of a thinkerer you get every part of the printer in amazon anyway (chitubox makes the parts for the most printers these days!)
    Printers normaly retain the value pretty well..as long as you don´t get "THE NEWEST" model (saturn 2)..a mars2 pro cost about 200 bucks new ..and 150 used..
    the stl licenses forbid to sell printed minnies for profit...but as a private person you are still allowed to sell your army!
    ..there are licenses out there especially for sellers and shops!
    AND WHO TF plys OFFICAL WH games?..even in our warhammer shop here ppl play with printed minnies/armies...and on the way of customizing minnies...3D files can be customized in any shape you can imagine..as log as you know how to edit them!
    that saied.. i get why some ppl think the convidience of buying a overpriced minnie in an shop is worth it..but GW and co. really have to step up thyre game

    • @JohnnyWad309

      It's so damn cheap to print compared to buying GW's overpriced and cheaply made models. I have a friend who has 4 printers because the person he ordered from sent him 3 extras by mistake then told him to keep them because shipping them back would cost more than they were worth. (He was in the middle east) The guy charges me about 11¢ on average for smaller models and about 23¢ for bigger ones.
