What is a Police Clearance Certificate(PCC)?
A police certificate is an official document issued as a result of a background check by the police or
a government agency of a country to enumerate any criminal records that the applicant may have.
Criminal records may include arrest, conviction, and possibly criminal proceedings
(PCC) is issued to Indian Passport holders in case they have applied for Residential Status, Employment or Long term visa, or for immigration. PCC cannot be issued for persons going abroad on Tourist Visa.

I gt my pcc from local police station but they mail me the pcc copy..but hard copy they r not giving me as per the rules..so print out copy is acceptable for onboard process
