It’s all shot in reverse, he learnt the sounds of the words backwards, so he is actually singing a noise rather than a word, hard to learn and very dedicated
and there’s that one clip where Chris sampled the singing in a talk show i think idk and when they reversed it. he really is saying the words tho not perfect but you can definitely tell its the song haha
@@bigpapa1472actually she removed her seatbelt and took the jacket from the back and put it on. so basically its the other way around. she didnt took it off, if you played the reverse clip in reverse again. LOL?
This video is just the king of the reverse music videos lol. It's actually older than 12 years. This was in 2002 so 21 years old. All of Coldplays music videos are gold. If I were to recommend another one by them it would definitely be Up & Up. It's so cool. And for this way back series I would highly highly recommend Sledgehammer by Peter Gabriel. In my opinion one of the greatest music videos of all time. You will love it. It's from the 80's but it's so good.
Actually the song and the video came out 21 years ago, in 2002. They just reuploaded the video 12 years ago. So every technique has to be referred to the timeframe of 2002
I love this song so much, but cannot listen to it without tearing up or straight up balling my eyes out. It's been stuck in my head lately because I finally started a relationship with someone at the end of my senior year of high school and I'm heading off to college in a month and a half. I never realized until now how much I actually love this person, and even though my college is not too far away, I do not know what is about to happen next. According to the storyline I read about this song on Spotify, Chris Martin claimed this song to be "a love song about overthinking." And that is exactly what I am doing. I cherish every moment that I spend with this person when I am spending time with her and I do not take those moments for granted, but as the time for me to depart draws more near, I overthink the situation so much to the point where I calculate a negative outcome rather than looking forward for hope. I am overthinking because I do not want to lose this amazing relationship that just happened. I pray to God each day hoping that wherever life takes me next that He will put me on a path towards a great outcome and the pain will be relieved whether we decide to stay together or move on. Regardless, I do not want to feel the emotional pain I am experiencing and this song is a testament to just that. No matter what happens, I will always love her forever in my heart. 🥺 Also, the music video is shot backwards and Chris Martin had to learn the lyrics in reverse. Such a cool video, but now makes the song more emotional since I cannot listen to the song now without thinking about my Prom in reverse, text messages we have sent to each other in reverse, phone calls and conversations we have had in reverse, all the dates we have had in reverse, etc.
I think they shot this on film. 35mm film negatives would have MORE than enough resolution to transfer later to 4k digital. In fact, you can get up to 5k from 35mm I believe.
Thank you for giving such a great breakdown of this even in 2023. I had the exact same reaction the first time I listened to and watched this video! I'm a new fan
Yes you are correct about location, it’s called Bourne woods near Farnham Surrey, and James Bond sky fall was filmed about 3 miles away as well, reason it’s popular is pinewood studios (film) is about 15 miles away so super easy for filming, I used to walk my dog there and saw the Witcher being filmed, they made a lot of snow for that
Oh, man, this is still my favorite Coldplay song! I've never watched the video before though. It took me hard by surprise too! Also, your sweatshirt is awesome.
I was about your age (guessing) when this song and video came out. I fell in love with it, so hard. Always brings tears and I'm still awestruck by how well it was all done. My only knock on it is that the car would have been more damaged at the bottom of the hill.
ive seen this music video many times and im surprised that i didnt notice the license plate for the car is from Sweetwater county here in Wyoming. I saw the BH&R and immediately knew.
I just noticed- why would she go through the car windscreen after the car landed at the bottom of the hill? No force or momentum when the car wasn't travelling forward?
I'm caught up to your MVs reactions. Let this one to the end because....yeeeeaaah, it's a pretty amazing one. Glad you liked it xD What the hell happened to way back wednesdays though? Lol
Lol, it's funny you ask that! I literally just got finished reacting to another one because I noticed I hadn't done one in a long while! Next week I will have another!
Loved this. Not sure if you take requests, but I'd suggest King by Florence + The Machine music video, would love to see your analysis on the practical effects!!!
If you like this one you might also like Kodaline - high hopes. It was a great video and pulls at the heartstrings. Actually also the All I want as well. Lots of Aloha!
Just some tips, we've all seen this video a hundred times, we don't need to analyze it any more :) We just want to see your reaction, no need to pause it over and over.
Fun Fact: Yan won’t pin this comment but because you read this, you probably will

When she took her seatbelt off at the end… 😭. This is such a good music video.
She had grown too comfortable in their relationship
Just to take off her jacket, and just like that, you never know when is your time. Anytime.
Technically it’s the beginning of the story; ending of the video if you think about it

+1! Sledgehammer is a great video. (Harry did an excellent live cover, I guess just watch that one to enjoy the music 😂)
I think Pharcyde - drop is better (it was 7 years before Coldplay. This video is more emotional tho.
Masterfully done. Coldplay was ahead of the times with this.

It’s an all time favorite video and your reaction was awesome
It wasn't shot in 4K.
It was originally released in 2002, uploaded to TH-cam in 2011, then remastered in 4K in 2022 for its 20 year anniversary.
Great to know I wasn't the only one who didn't notice the seat-belt on first watch.
The video is filmed backwards, with Chris Martin singing backwards while actually going forward.
This is my fav Coldplay song and it makes me tear up Everytime

I lowkey really like your insights into how shots were made and just overall fun facts. Good stuff man
Thank you so much! I'm happy you enjoyed it!
pause the video all the times you need and want, i love your videos either way 🥰🥰🥰
Has somebody noticed that the car that rolled down the hill is perfectly intact when Chris woke up? It's supposed to be crushed
any movies, music videos or tv shows trying to mess with time is super exciting to me. Time really is our worst enemy when we think about it.
I think they shot this on film. 35mm film negatives would have MORE than enough resolution to transfer later to 4k digital. In fact, you can get up to 5k from 35mm I believe.
I just felt old because I watched this video on MTV over 20 years ago and I was surprised you've never seen it 😂
yeahh it's an emotional one..made me tear up, great reaction!
Thank you! Ya it was very hard not to!
Strawberry Swing...the video is amazing 😍
I like how you as a video editor confused to this video, that means Coldplay video editor was totally made a great video concept!

More awesome music videos Coldplay has that you will probably enjoy: Every teardrop is a Waterfall, Let Somebody Go, My Universe
the video is from 2002 actually
Indeed From A Rush Of Blood To The Head ❤
Timeless beauty.
The first time I saw this video my heart sank when I saw her laying in the meadow, and I understood. Then the glass and the tears. Amazing video.
I recommend 'Every Teardrop Is a Waterfall' by Coldplay.

So good! I’d love to see your take on Breezeblocks from Alt-J (another reverse video) ❤
Great to revisit this song. Awesome to see this video.
ive seen this music video many times and im surprised that i didnt notice the license plate for the car is from Sweetwater county here in Wyoming. I saw the BH&R and immediately knew.
Lol I laughed when you thought she was sleeping and also when you didn't notice her at first
10 mins I’ll never get back
fun fact: chris had to learn how to sing this song in reverse to shoot the music video.
This video tore me apart the first time I watched it.
I am a scientist and this song has me. 😢
I just noticed- why would she go through the car windscreen after the car landed at the bottom of the hill? No force or momentum when the car wasn't travelling forward?
they didn’t edit it to make it look like he was singing backwards .. he IS SINGING backwards 😢
You need to watch UP AND UP - COLDPLAY , it'll blow your mind 👀👀
I’m really trying to watch but boy is it tough and I love cold play.
I miss you, Reijo. ❤ Greetings from Finland.
