    How do you get 107 MPH with just your upper body and I can't get over 90 with my whole body? Is this just a physical limitation ie(slower twitch muscles, arm length etc)?

    Clay have you tried the feeling of pushing down with lead hand / pulling up with trail hand in transition ? Been working on this feeling and it has increased my lag by looking at video. It really loads and increases the angle in arms . It’s like a slingshot at the bottom of arch. I’m a low handicap golfer .

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      That should bow your lead wrist and create wrist extension in the trail hand, which is the ideal hand position for a shallow path with lag and should create good shaft lean at impact. Thanks for sharing! Play well! Nate | TSG Instructor

  • @MLA50
    @MLA50 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Great video! Thank you. I think the more accurate way to describe the "upper body/arms" swing is the the use of the wrists to create a leverage angle. If you just used the "arms" through the use of your deltoids to move the arms while keeping the wrists locked, there would be very little power.

    What degree driver are you playing and what did you loft/deloft it to with the loft sleeve? One thing I haven’t seen in your videos when you talk about the lag is how to have the lag with a positive attack angle. One thing you’ll notice with players like Tiger or Cameron Champ who have great lag is the negative attack angle. This is putting more back spin on the ball and their launch angle is several degrees below what is optimal launch conditions for max carry.
    They are happy with 310 carry while still being able to hit it further because of their enormous club head speed. The average golfer will not have the same tour speed and ideally would have a positive attack angle of 4° to get max distance out of their driver and reduce spin. I’d love to hear your take!

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Clay's driver is 9° and it's in the stock position. One of the components of lag is releasing it through the ball to gain that extra angular momentum. The difference with a driver is the ball position is moved further up in the stance, so you're still releasing that lag through impact, but it's occurring on the upswing now. We have a course for our All Access Members called the Straight-Line Release that covers this very thing. If you're ready to purchase the membership, just use the quick link below because you can sign up in about 1 minute: topspeedgolf.com/pick-all-access-plan/ Best of luck! Nate | TSG Instructor

      @@TopSpeedGolf Awesome thanks for the response! Do you have any idea why Champ and Woods have a negative attack angle when the optimal attack angle for launch and spin would be 4 degrees?

    Clay - John Daly turns his chest with left arm glued to his left pec and at impact, his left shoulder is 10-12" higher than his right shoulder. Same with Dustin Johnson, Cam Champ, etc. Isn't this position at impact only achieved if your downswing is powered by the chest/upperbody turning and dragging your left arm along for the ride thru impact? This is what makes these guys so consistent - turning the upper body instead of an armsy swing. I would love for you to analyze and make a video on this, because all of the long hitting PGA players are in this position at impact - left shoulder 10 - 12" higher than right shoulder. The classic guys like Snead and Hogan appear to have left shoulder 8" higher than right shoulder at impact.

    I think your demonstration is great but I think your tool to mesurate speed is not accurate... 107mph with no rotation is strange and the 127mph doesn't look like ... Smash factor only 1,36 with a good hit strange also ! Maybe the ball speed is good but not the club head speed.

    • @TopSpeedGolf
      @TopSpeedGolf  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Smash factor is just ball speed divided by clubhead speed. 173 ball speed divided by 127 clubhead speed equals 1.36 smash factor.
