I'll never forget the first time I ever heard this song. Me and my dad were taking the back roads from the town 15 miles away, home. Halfway through the drive, this song came on the radio. As soon as the beginning played, he looked at me (mind you, I was around 7 or 8) and he had a tear roll down his cheek. I never ever had seen my dad show any kind of sad emotions, as he prided himself on being such a macho dude. Anyways, fast forward about 2 years before he died, we heard this song on the radio again. And he told me the story. This song was the song that had broken up him and my mom. They had their issues, mainly her with the drugs and alcohol. But he told me, he spent the night with me and her. We all layed in bed. They agreed to move along with their lives. My dad listened to this song quite often at the time, and he told me how that was the hardest decision he ever had to make in his life. He raised me to be a pretty good man I would hope to think. And I have him to thank. History repeats itself. And I went through basically the same thing. But I have my son with me, and I've been able to start a new family with him. And so this song, will hold significant meaning and value to me forever. I want this song played at my funeral. If you read this far, thank you for taking the time to read a bit about a strangers life. Much love to all of you.. and yeah.. i might have a few tears myself right now
I don't think your story about your father was long at all. I'm sorry you had to go through that and your mom was an addict but I can see you've grown from the past nightmares of those old days. I thank you for sharing and by the way, we aren't really strangers if you touch someone else and that my friend you did. May you always have happiness and remember, life's too short for regrets so I'll just say,.......Until & God Bless you friend ...
If you have ever suffered a tough, abusive, hurtful, toxic, expensive relationship then this song is for you and me. Wishing everybody happy relationships.
Ironically, I heard this fav laying out on a picnic blanket w my mom (and her date), and my l'il sis on the Grant Park Bandshell Lawn; some college-aged couples next to us had a radio with them, and this song came on. The Chicago Symphony was about to deliver Beethoven's Ninth, so the packed lawn was waiting in the sultry twighlight. The old Standard Oil sign was lighting up with a weird sync, complimented by the tune on the radio. I was 10 years old, too, and the 'stream of consciousness' left an indelible impression. I think the song eludes to NYC, maybe😅
Not to be THAT person but this song was written by Bernie Taupin. He collaborated on almost all of Elton John's songs as the lyricist with Elton writing the music. Possibly the best songwriting duo ever.
@@mathewfullerton8577 true, but this is one of the few songs Bernie wrote ABOUT Elton. He was engaged to a witch of a woman according to Taupin, to the point that Elton had a haphazard attempt at suicide long before the one we all know about to get out of the relationship. That's how this song was written, so this one is deeply personal to Elton himself, because it's truly one of the rare songs about him.
I know this wasn't a chart topper, but it is one of the best songs Elton and Bernie ever wrote. This is a classic and it's endurance has proven it's status as a great song.
My husband OD two nights ago. I don't partake. He was celebrating his retirement, and then he was gone. No mouth to mouth no compressions nearly my pain and fear punching at his chest , until he returned.... His life was saved, but I'm certainly not that powerful. Thank you God.
+Mick Smith It's based on a true story. Elton was foolishly about to marry a woman when he was playing in "Long" John Baldry's band. Long John knew it was a bad move and talked Elton out if it by telling him he was a butterfly and could just fly away.
When I watched "Rocketman,' and the scene where he tried to drown himself in the pool, all I could think was what a horrible tragedy it would have been to have lost not just a fantastic artist, but beautiful soul. Thank God his music's still alive.
I'm in full on for Thanking God for Elton and all the other musicians who have brought the meaning to our lives and we haven't even realized it or acknowledged it!Spread the ❤ back to them!
One more beer and I don't hear you anymore. Wish I was a drinker and like beer. At my 60+ yrs. I've drank one beer in life. Cause I was already drunk. Very short binge.
Last night I attended a funeral for a friend who took his life. The last time I saw him was at a funeral for another friends father. It was obvious he was no longer the same person I had come to know. I knew he was unhappy in his marriage and being dominated. This song comes to mind when I look back on all of this and can’t help but cry. We never know the internal battles being waged within those we love unless they let us in. When they don’t it leaves a hurt that feels like a black hole in your heart. Good bye Brian, & God bless you; may you find peace and love in God’s heavenly domain.
Undoubtedly John's best track. Stands head and shoulders above anything else he did. Everything fits, it never wavers, just builds and develops. Brilliant.
@@nancycornell3413 You ask a very profound question! It's not just people either. It's in the eyes of our beautiful pets too. Why do we scurry around looking for it in unlikely places? I've heard this song my whole life and never felt it's full meaning until now. It's hauntingly deep
@@nancycornell3413 You are a very sensitive person. That is a gift. Sometimes tears are just that love we ache with and some songs like this one tap into. What a tragedy it would be not to feel a song like this one so powerfully that you cry just from the sheer beauty of it. When he says 'I would of walked to the deep end of a river' I now know what he was talking about. I love like that. With abandon. But he finally realized that he could be a friend to himself. That's what took me a lifetime of experience to appreciate because this beautifully haunting song was always playing in the background of my life. I always wondered when he'd explain who this 'someone' was who saved his life. 🤷🏻♂️ It is powerful now to realize who it was..him ❤️
Listening because Elton was the soundtrack to my brother's life. He passed just two days ago. This is such a meaningful song for me. Godspeed, brother!
Every time someone likes a comment about him or replies to one of your comments his spirit and memory is made stronger. Honor him and speak of him often. I'm sorry for your loss.
This song will always remind me of my grandmother. She died in 1988 and I was only 18 years old at the time. Shortly after I heard about her passing, I heard this song play on the radio. The butterfly part reminds me of her soul leaving this earth. Every time I see a butterfly to this day I say hi to her. I still miss her very much.
This song rings so true for me right now. I probably going to have to leave my husband. My heart is so heavy right now...but I'm strong now, I can do this. This song saved my life tonight, thank you Sir Elton 💖🙏
This song has a very special meaning to me, thanks to the doctors who happened to be aboard the plane when I suffered a sudden cardiac arrest on the way to my seat. Between the CPR and defibrillator, I can honestly say, "Someone saved my life tonight"! Thank you, thank you!
lied on, mistreated, disrepected, abused, used, betrayed, hated, cheated, talked about, taken for granted, never expected to rise from the ashes, cursed, abandoned, rejected, isolated, misjudged, mishandled, but I'M HERE BABY! STILL STANDING 42 YEARS OLD TODAY!I came out on top, never to be broken again.
Bernie and Elton at their finest. Killer lyrics with cutting-edge chord structure and melody. And to top it off: Elton's voice at its highest level. When he sings, "Listen to me good, I'm sleeping with myself tonight, saved in time, thank God my music's still alive..." OH MAN! Listen closely. This is one of the best singers ever.
Since 1975 (I was 17 yrs old then) these lyrics have lived deep in my soul. I didn't even FULLY appreciate lyrics until about ten yrs ago. Elton u will always hold a special place in my heart. ❤
It really is. “Altar-bound” not only references the wedding altar, but also evokes imagery of a sacrificial alter. And then you realize the point is that they were the same thing to Elton.
I always cry when I hear this magical song. Ever since I had some very negative experiences, and someone came along at the right time. Total strangers. Not knowing what they did. I dedicate this song to those angels.
Lloyd Robert, I understand how you feel about crying when you hear this song. Even though I've had no trauma in my life associated with this song I still find it deeply moving. I hope all is well for you now :-)
Lloyd Robert I can relate to this song and you Lloyd I tried to do suicide and I have a sugar bear in my life who shall remain anonymous he know who he is he's a retired policeman and he's Meshuggah Bay you saved my life God bless everybody who loves Elton John and Bernie taupin
Lloyd Robert I said sugar bear not much sugar Bay please pardon me my smart phone does not work that well I have to use the microphone cuz my fingers are too pudgy to use the keyboard I'm still standing
Incredible how this song has the wand to portrait my once relationship, the one that molded my life for ever and for good. It is a beautiful song albeit bringing me a sorrow never ever healed today, more than 40 years away from the cataclismatic event, all those devastating memories come afloat. I truly never understood why she said she was leaving, why our seemingly deep and solid love was through. For the youngsters: I still think I love her.
Ditto. She was beautiful. Everyone wanted her. It was 43 years ago and the last time I saw her she walked in the door with necklace of hickies around her neck, that’s when I walked out. Changed my life forever.
I grew up in the 60's, the 70's, and the 80's. I was and am still fortunate enough to have been able to listen to all these decades of the Greatest music in history that was given to us! Elton and Bernie were and still Monuments. So creative these decades were.
This song really saved my life as an a very abused child I listened to this song over & over will love all Eltons music he really saved me thru his music swear to god I love this man and his music
I've always loved this song, but never really paid much attention to the lyrics. I'm reading the lyrics now and I have tears rolling down my face. I'm 43 years old and have never had a song bring me to tears. 😢
It's the story of Elton's being dragged toward marriage just as his career seemed ready to progress. He managed to break off the engagement and go on with his career. After he sings "Someone saved my life tonight", he sings "Sugar Bear." "Sugar Bear" was the nickname of a close friend of his, one who encouraged him to break off the engagement and stick with his music.
January 2022. I'm 50 years old but grew up hearing this song because my brother is 10 years older than me and had this on a 45 record. Just rediscovered it here on TH-cam and can't stop listening. Some songs deserve the constant replay. This is one of them. Hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.
This is the real Elton! Living his life and suffering very much. Then he knew that life is what he sang and future will be better. Elton, you're the greatest!!!!!
Long live the 70's. I turned 14 in March of 1970. Was the greatest time of my life. Everyday i hear a song that brings back a memory. If time travel is ever invented in what's left of my life I'm so outta here. I'd do it all again, and i don't need to know what i know now. There's a couple mistakes i made I'd like to avoid but even WITH them I'd still do it again.
This masterpiece is dramatic, theatrical, dark, and at the same time auspicious. With a powerful piano, a voice that goes from fear to triumph, high-flying literary lyrics, John takes us on a tense tale from doom to redemption. Like someone who comes out of hell and finds a new paradise in common life. Great John, Taupin, and that magnificent band that doesn't miss a chord and a beat.
This song's title, "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" reminds me of the night someone saved my life. I was dying of compression asphyxia on September 5, 2009 believing my last dying words to be, "I can't breathe!" But thanks to God my life was saved that night.
1976? This song is just as good in 2024 as it was back then. WOW!!! Actually, it's a Masterpiece. I think it was recorded in the Rocky Mountains somewhere. Amazing Artistry. I miss the 70's. They were so Great.
I remember 48 years ago playing this 45 record about 1000x over and my aunt threatened to break the record in half if I played 1 more time.....here we are 48 years later, I'm 58 and still have my damn EJ record lol.....love it....one of the best best best musical genius of all time.......wow what great memories when I hear EJ❤❤❤❤❤❤almost brings tears to my eyes in my old age😭
The older you get, the more these songs begin to make sense. I went through two breakups in the same year. The first one was amicable. The other less so. The second relationship made me unhappy. She ended up leaving me for someone she met online. She still wanted me as a friend, but then started criticizing and blaming me for everything that went wrong in the relationship. I decided to keep going forward realizing that while I loved her and cared a lot about her, she was never going to change, that I would always just be some guy she would lean on when times were rough, but was never there for me when I needed her. She would always judge me, but I could never say anything about her. She would insist on me seeing things her way, but never be open to seeing things my way. I realized also that hating her and her husband and being bitter about it was not going to help me either. This song helps me move on and realize that I'm free and so is she.
I listen to Elton John just to take a trip back in time, his music has a place in time, with meaning and I feel like I'm years younger. The best artist in my life.
I don't agree that this is Eltons crowning achievement. Because the truth is everything he ever does is his best work. Never been another man like him and never will be. Exceptional talent.
+Marty Buchanan when this one hits you, and without even thinking, just listening, you will know without a doubt what he is singing about. and you will be amazed. at least I hope you have that moment
....but the thing about those songs is they can have different meanings to different people.. That's what makes them great. How many theories have you heard about Hotel California ?
Easily one of the best pop songs written in the last 70 years. Great enough that even the "Sugar Bear" lyric didn't hurt it. "I'm strangled by your haunted social scene, just a pawn out played by a dominating queen," anyways makes a momentary shiver run up my leg.
I'm 65 years old . Heard this song countless times , but I was in a traffic queue last week and this came on Radio 2 . It was the first time I listened to the lyrics . What a song . ☺
I am a lifelong fan of Elton John and Im so glad he shared his musical talents with the world. The world is a brighter place with him in it. Thank you Sir Elton John.
I was Twelve when I first heard this incredible song. It has grown with me over the years, I've been working it out on my piano, bit by bit. What a time of incredible music that was. Our minds were all evolved by it, although the A.M. radios did not always render the lyrics clearly. Brilliance comes through. Thank you Sir Elton John and Bernie Taupin, you have given us such priceless gifts.
In my opinion, this is the single greatest song ever written and performed. An absolute masterpiece of sheer perfection. Not only musically, but because this song does, extremely well, what only a few others have been able to do before. Which is that it speaks to the listener personally. Every person who has ever listened to this song can relate to the words and apply the words to their own lives. We all feel as if this song is being sung directly to us, about our lives. Very few songs can evoke the kind of involvement and emotion that this song has done and continues to do to this day. This is the greatest song of all time - at least in my opinion.
A co-worker literally saved my life a couple weeks ago. She's in a different department...people and Managers in my own department didn't recognize my distress multiple times. Seriously when someone has visible cuts and you don't realize something is very, very wrong.

Someone Saved my Life tonight....WOW!! My #1 favorite since I was 7 years old. I'm now 52. Still my all time favorite artist, singer and piano player. I had every album that I saved my meager allowance for. This particular song goes to the depths of my entire being, moves my soul in a way I can't explain. Moves me to tears to this very DAY!! MUSICAL GENIUS' HANDS DOWN. Can't wait to see the farewell tour. Thank you Elton John and band for a lifetime of the best music. Respect and reverence aren't good enough words.
i sang this to the love of my life, on the stairsteps of the apt complex we lived in, her apt above mine. she was 15 i was 16, 47 years later, i remember every word, an the memory is enough to bring tears.
I am an old fart, 62 years old. I saw a documentary decades ago about Elton, and parts of this song are autobiographical. He was engaged to be married to a high society girl, maybe even a "dominating queen" as he sings in the song. When one day he realizes that he cannot go through with it, because he would have been very unhappy. "Freedom whispered in my ear ...." And his life, as well as the lives of all of us who love his music, were changed for the better forever.
Yes, this song is autobiographical. The producer wanted Elton to push harder vocally rather than focusing on the words. As soon as someone told him what the song was about, he relented. He further honoured the sentiment by not embellishing the song too much. The result is uniquely beautiful and heartfelt. And don't sell yourself short, "old" friend. I enjoyed reading your thoughtful comments. 🌞
This was my husband and I 's Wedding song in 1993 after we both were married and divorced from people who hurt, cheated and took us for granted. Now then, after that we knew we weren't meant to be together when we were very young but after when we really knew what love was truly about. We saved each other that day we were married.
the poetic lyrics, the beautiful chord changes, but what really sets this one apart for me is the passion in sir elton's voice, it really sounds personal
This is my favorite song from Elton John. He has a lot of beautiful songs with lyrics that always get to your deepest emotions, but this has to be my all-time favorite. Thanks for sharing!!
I'm so grateful that Ray Williams discovered Elton John in 1967 the year I was born. What a gift Elton John has and I'm so glad he shared his gift with the world.
This song brings back memories as a kid. But as of today, this would be the first time I actually understood the message he had intended in his song. WOW!!
As a mid-70s child and teen, I used to listen to music on vinyl records, all of which I still own, through three foot tall tower speakers that could shake the entire house. The ambience of loudspeakers cannot be beaten.
*Someone Saved My Life Tonight* is the international anthem for all of us who have survived the clutches of malignant narcissist thanks to the many lifelines that were thrown to us by those who truly love and care for us.
Elton and Bernie. Wow. I’m 60 and into so much and many styles of music, Bowie probably formost, but few compare to these gods of music. I’ve got tears streaming down my face as I listen to this.
When I was a kid, I was so captivated by the opening riff of Elton’s piano. I was thrilled when I got ahold of the sheet music to attempt to play it myself.
First heard this in 1978. 16 years old and didn't understand the meaning of this song but became an Elton John fan. I was learning piano at this time so I became hooked on his piano skills.
@@maddykrantznot sure about that. Just watched a documentary on Elton, in his own words, he said he tried to commit suicide at the very height of his career, this song was about that.
I haves loved Elton's music for over 45 years...An old friend introduced me to his music with this song...Hearing it makes me think of my friend Max who passed a few years ago...Miss you brother
Remember being 19, in college, and loving this song during the Summer of 1975. It was truly an introspective song with the words meaningful. I enjoyed listening to the full length version then cranking it up full blast for the final minute to feel the power of it! Someone saved someone saved someone saved my life tonight...
You ever hear a song and then think to yourself "thank the universe this artist exists" thank the universe Elton John exists and for writing such a brilliant song like this that everyone can relate to in some way
The story told is the one thing that really puts me off when it was explained to me (during a TV interview with the person involved) that this song is about/against the woman who was engaged to be married to Elton John before he even assumed his stage name and persona. I mean: if you are homosexual, being caught in a male-female bond of marriage is not a good thing, but although you can blame society for pushing you in that direction, you should not blame a woman who fell in love with you, unaware of your sexual preferences, and who wants to spend her life with you. Of course, a story has two sides, but even if half of the other person's story as she presented it ("Suddenly he was gone and he never talked to me again; he just wrote this song about it, which is still very painful today, because I had no idea what was going on.") is true, I think this is a song that - lyric-wise - should not be. It is a song that executes revenge rather than emphasise freedom. Sorry if this ruins anybody's appreciation of the lyrics as it did for me (before I knew this, I really loved the song and the lyrics), but I feel it is only fair to present this side of the information about this song as well for the sake of completeness.
@@SuperTonyony Exactly. There's two sides to every story and this song is one side of it. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle and both sides probably had valid complaints. So why not just enjoy the song?
rockabye Elton knew her and his friends and family said she was a golddigger and then she goes on TV playing the Victim getting paid for the interview Elton has never claimed to be a perfect person but come one it was his life he knows better than we do he has a right to speak the truth about her it's his story no matter if he wrote it or not it's his story
I relate to this song as someone who came within an inch of killing myself one time. It wasn’t over a relationship, and another person didn’t save my life, but the song is still very powerful with its message. Elton is grateful to still be alive, and so am I. If I had ended it all at age 16 all those years ago I would have missed so much.
This is one of those iconic sounds of my childhood. I was just a kid and the part that always stuck in my head after hearing this song was the ending. Such quality music, lyrics, vocals, everything. I'm glad technology today allows us to go back in time through music at any moment.
I’m ashamed to admit I hadn’t heard of this Elton John song until LAST YEAR. I feel I’ve let myself down not knowing about it!!! It’s a truly beautiful, yet haunting piece. Stunning.
This has been one of my favorite "go to's" for several decades, heck maybe 4, but this is definitely my favorite EJ song. I guess I'm getting old but I can remember the first time I heard it. It was a new release on AM 1320 WCOG GREENSBORO, NC. I was in kindergarten in my mom's vw bug on our way home. I have had a tragic life filled with heartache and pain, fueled by drugs and alcohol, I got the grand tour of America's underbelly, earning 5 felony convictions along the way and several thousand days in some of our country's most violent prisons. I guess this song has saved me as much as a song can save a man. Thanks for the post whoever you are. I listen to the song with sober ears today and honest to God it feels like the first time sometimes. EJ is a bad ass songwriter singer and musician. Shout out to that old queen. Him being gay never once effected my ears from picking up what he was laying down. All you beautiful people it makes me sad not to meet you all. I will catch up with each and every one of you once we cross over and I promise you that as sure as you are reading these words. I want to hear everybody's story beginning to end, leaving out nothing. Eternity is a long time folks, it ain't like we won't have the time. So breathe in breathe out. Until we meet.

This song is so POWERFUL and AUTHENTIC . . . I just know this by intuition. One can feel it. Probably Elton John's best song ever because it is so deeply real and thus expressed as the most noble form of art: personal experience of the deepest consequences accurately reprocessed and expressed via art. Sublime and an affirmation of humanity's divine essence potentiality as a realization.
That is so strange as my first recollection of really getting this song was coming BACK from a camping trip! From some reason that day - major details of it - have stuck in my mind for probably almost 45 yeas. I remember it was the summer & later that day I went swimming with some mates at a local open air pool!
@@alleykat8602 I think music can do that, it can be so invocative. I *LOVE* early *Genesis* & there was a song off my favourite albums of theirs (which coincidentally is also my favourite of the 6-700 I own!) called "Snowbound." It's a real song of winter & a beautiful, beautiful tune. Around the time I was getting into the album so 1977 -78, we had a very bad winter in the UK, It used to get really cold over here -15C to -20C some nights. We had a municipal park & as kids used to like to play on the ice when it froze & occasionally fall through, they'd drain it in the winter but there was a very deep section way out on it that never totally drained. One night, in a blizzard, some old tramp wandered into the park & onto the drained lake bed but walked *WAY* out to that frozen water & basically froze to death out there. They found him a few days later. There is a line in that song - *_"Lay your body down upon the midnight snow, feel the cold of winter in your hair"_* Whenever I hear that song I think of that guy & that incident! th-cam.com/video/eqgKiFxeQtg/w-d-xo.html

My husband OD two nights ago. I don't partake. He was celebrating his retirement, and then he was gone. No mouth to mouth no compressions nearly my pain and fear punching at his chest , until he returned....
His life was saved, but I'm certainly not that powerful. Thank you God.
I have not forgotten the face of my father. Thanks mr. King for recognizing the importance of this song.
What book was that again?

This is without question Elton John's masterpiece. His best life's work. Tour de Force!
+Lenny Leaps In This or Tiny Dancer, or Goodbye Yellow Brick Road
+Lenny Leaps In I totally agree. This song is about an attempted suicide I've been there.
+Mick Smith god bless you
+Mick Smith It's based on a true story. Elton was foolishly about to marry a woman when he was playing in "Long" John Baldry's band. Long John knew it was a bad move and talked Elton out if it by telling him he was a butterfly and could just fly away.

Good bye Brian, & God bless you; may you find peace and love in God’s heavenly domain.
so sorry for your loss, you're quite right....

@@johnmahan4757 I can never hear this song without tears 😢 💔 😭

Altar bound, hypnotized... wow! That is some next level song writing there.

@bordiguy
Was thinking the same thing.

Someone saved your life….you’re a butterfly. 🦋

Flawlessly stated
This song's title, "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" reminds me of the night someone saved my life. I was dying of compression asphyxia on September 5, 2009 believing my last dying words to be, "I can't breathe!" But thanks to God my life was saved that night.

Me too, mate.......Me too.
I'm also 58 just turned, love this song, love you
The older you get, the more these songs begin to make sense.
😊
I listen to Elton John just to take a trip back in time, his music has a place in time, with meaning and I feel like I'm years younger. The best artist in my life.

Your not old
Yes, this song is autobiographical. 🌞

You ever hear a song and then think to yourself "thank the universe this artist exists" thank the universe Elton John exists and for writing such a brilliant song like this that everyone can relate to in some way
Love this. A great poem by Mr. Taupin music to equal the words by Mr. John. Thank you
an unbelievably clever song - lyrically of course it tells a tragic and heart warming story, and musically it is enigmatic and elusive. It's amazing!
Exactly
@@SuperTonyony Exactly. There's two sides to every story and this song is one side of it. The truth is probably somewhere in the middle and both sides probably had valid complaints. So why not just enjoy the song?
Clever aside. Can't it just be a good song?
rockabye Elton knew her and his friends and family said she was a golddigger and then she goes on TV playing the Victim getting paid for the interview Elton has never claimed to be a perfect person but come one it was his life he knows better than we do he has a right to speak the truth about her it's his story no matter if he wrote it or not it's his story
How does this not have at least a million views
The best song by Elton by far.
This is one of my favorite songs ever to listen to. The pure heart I can hear in Elton's voice later in the song gives me goosebumps everytime.

Until we meet.
a hauntingly beautiful song..
This is the song that got me listening to Elton John. there is no word to describe how I feel about this song.
This song is saved my life growing up in foster care I was in so much pain Elton John is wounderful person with a heart of gold this song rescued me I would of never made it I believe in Jesus I believe you could be saved when Elton John was in his youth he told a friend he was gonna take his life now he's in doing good he saved my life amen god bless
+Jacobus Apostata My fave by Elton (although I have MANY second-faves)! 😊
Well put Jacobus!
I think Elton's sterling vocals here reflect the unusually personal subject. Great song.
Nigel on drums.
This song is beautiful because you hear the pain you know it was real. So beautiful Elton.
Thank you Dad. For all the camp trips. 7 kids in the sticks this song always played ❤️
That is so strange as my first recollection of really getting this song was coming BACK from a camping trip! From some reason that day - major details of it - have stuck in my mind for probably almost 45 yeas. I remember it was the summer & later that day I went swimming with some mates at a local open air pool!
Deep Heat I don’t think its strange, back then this song played all the time... glad you feel it too, 🙂

I think music can do that, it can be so invocative.
There is a line in that song -
*_"Lay your body down upon the midnight snow, feel the cold of winter in your hair"_*
Whenever I hear that song I think of that guy & that incident!

Deep Heat I don’t think I know that one

Great song from an amazing album.
*Genesis* sold out when they hit the States but their early stuff was sublime.
Absolutely Beautiful Masterpiece, I remember the day this song came out, a very beautiful legendary masterpiece from Elton John
Honestly, how good is this song!!!????? Fucking classic!!
The best of Elton and Bernie.
Nobody writes them like this anymore.
All the men are apologizing, crying they cannot live without the woman.
All the women are bitching and boasting that they do not need a man.
Political correctness is the rot and destruction of our culture. But not here.
People forget about bernie
