I don’t think Tom let’s him be this way for profit, Bert would be funny even without being a raging alcoholic, it’s just a hard thing to accept and change for both the person that needs to be sober and the people that have to intervene to make it happen. Tims a good guy, he’s not intentionally trading his friends life for content and cash.

The toxic loop of alcoholism. Hangxiety is real and it’s not just the day after. Bert did mention during a post-sober October event a few years back that his anxiety had significantly reduced. Hard to notice if kept stuck in the loop though.
I remember him saying one time, either on this podcast or a sober October podcast I think, that he figured out you can take those small bottles of liquor through airport security. Before every single flight he buys a lemonade or a soda or something, he goes into the bathroom, and makes himself like a 6 drink cocktail. He takes like 15 flights a month.
I go through opiate withdrawals often.. And it sounds to me, it's undeniable withdrawals. Alcohol and benzos have the worst withdrawals ever, you can literally seize and die.. Lol.. 😬 at least opiate withdrawals just make you hurt an unfathomable pain inside your bones, and legs mostly. And your veins feel on fire for a bit, and you kinda shake I guess, not me so much, it's more anxiousness, it's just like an extreme flu plus some. For 2-3 days. Neurological misfire causes you to cry at nothing n shit 😭. Burnt is a certified alcky..

Tom is about to say something I wanna hear or tell an interesting story, then right on queue Bert interrupts with some nonsense never giving Tom a chance to finish. “My sisters had 2 different reactions to me sleeping with their best friends, one..” in comes Bert.
@Ore Brigham yeah it went from funny to annoying really quick. They’ve said it a million times but he doesn’t listen he waits to talk. It’s not funny anymore.
