I just came from watching a Steve Martin interview with Letterman in 1986, and nearly 30 years later I love Mr. Martin's playfullness. He really knows how to give his interviewers a hard time lol.
@@gantmj exactly how they wanted it to be... I enjoyed it, but I couldn't tell you what was in it besides maybe Martin short in a nude suit and them sitting and chatting.
I was a few seconds in when I thought "Look how much more humbly Steve took the applause than Martin Short", then he hit it with the same type of humour and I loved them both as friends even more ahaha
@@GokulOnFire dude physically walked in and Brand walked out, but Brand likened it to a metaphor as in Steve is retiring/dying (depending on how you look at it) and Brand is coming into the fore. It's funny cause Brand is quick and also slightly rude.
+David Gonzalez Yea now that you mention it they could almost be brothers or cousins or something, especially seeing his face in profile with Harrison in mind.
It’s so weird that he would have any interest in Russell Brand that when he said that I kept thinking does he mean THAT Russell Brand, but I don’t suppose there’s any other!
@Dantezim1 I used to think Russell Brand was unfunny too, but then I saw him interviewed on Ellen and he actually made me laugh! So I figure he's one of those guys that can be funny in a certain, specific, limited context (such as "Ad-libbing while NOT hosting a show").
Yup, I first thought he was just eccentric but when I saw him talking to Conan and Craig Ferguson and you can see they were trying to keep up with his quick wit - I really began to appreciate him as a comedian. Look for his interview with Conan were he ‘explains’ how monarchy works.
Brand was brilliant off-the-top back in the day...but now he's not as fluid...he's on some weird spiritual trip in interviews...still a beast on stage and still has some off-the-top moments but few and far between and the worst is...its by choice...he just wants to force some deep and meaningful convo every time...rather than just riff occasionally.... All good with him doing the d&M sh88 off-stage but i wish he would take a break once in a while to just riff
Brand's response implies that Martin's fame or career is near the end, while Brand's is just beginning.(Which of course isn't true, but it was a funny reply).
so funny that these celebs actually show up on the beach like its some kind of vacation. it must be something in their contract because i have never found the beach to be interesting in the least. i'll just leave it up to you all if you find it interesting.
Huh? Are you complaining about Steve's looks or something? I was just thinking how fit he looks. And still deliciously funny. People get older, because it's that or death, despite what you might have head about cake.
i think Conan and Jimmy Fallon are the only 2 talk show hosts that dont care wether or not their guests are funnier than they are... an asshole like Leno or Letterman would always have to crack some "not so funny joke" every time their guest made the audience laugh
how old are you? cause I don't think they all will die in the next 10 years or so... and I guess new great actors will invent themselves! and why are there so many likes to your silly comment? :|
I just came from watching a Steve Martin interview with Letterman in 1986, and nearly 30 years later I love Mr. Martin's playfullness. He really knows how to give his interviewers a hard time lol.
Lol, i just did the same; I just came watching Steve Martin´s interview with Johnny Carson
And he looks exactly the same
I love STEVE MARTIN SHORT.
Steve Martin and Martin Short... two of the funniest guys out there.
Seeing their tour would just knock out about half of my Bucket List! I so hope to see the show, it's just a 7 hour drive. Worth it!!
Their night you will forget special was quite forgettable.
It was eh.
@@gantmj exactly how they wanted it to be... I enjoyed it, but I couldn't tell you what was in it besides maybe Martin short in a nude suit and them sitting and chatting.
Two of the best Martins.
You spelt unfunniest wrong.
I don't even want a picture with Steve, I just want to talk to him, just to tell him how awesome he is, and how thankful I am that he became an actor.
Yeah I don't need something silly like an autograph. I just want to smell his hair, and tell him I love him.
Conan is one of the greats in entertainment of his generation. It's fascinating to watch him with the greats from previous generations.
That opening gag was so original. Love Steve Martin.
It was in the old style Steve Martin.
Haha, his standing ovation bit. "Look to your companion".
I love Steve Martin.. He has always been so handsome and adorable...
I just watched martin short also .
I think i will watch their old movies ..classic movies .3 amigos
The palm tree blocking his view😂
I was a few seconds in when I thought "Look how much more humbly Steve took the applause than Martin Short", then he hit it with the same type of humour and I loved them both as friends even more ahaha
Steve Martin is a master !
I like that he could appreciate Brand's joke. :)
I don't get the joke. What was it?
@@GokulOnFire dude physically walked in and Brand walked out, but Brand likened it to a metaphor as in Steve is retiring/dying (depending on how you look at it) and Brand is coming into the fore. It's funny cause Brand is quick and also slightly rude.
In his early stand-up, Martin used to tell his audience how much smarter he was than them. I don't really know if that means he is actually smart.
@@ronaldinho4eva1 thanks, that completely went over my head.
My first film I ever saw of Steve Martin was when he and Michael Caine starred in the fantastic Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.
Bonne Film!!
No, Ruprect!!
I love Steve Martin. 💖💖💓
He's so kawaii~
Steve Martin is brilliant. Few would connect Martin Short with Puppy Conan.
This generation needs more people like steve martin :)
And also like Martin Short
Steve Martin's second pic looks like a movie poster
Steve Martin is wicked awesome. A true great! Hilarious.
There's no greater honor than being burned over and over on TV by Steve Martin or Martin Short! 😂😁
I must disagree.
@@neuvocastezero1838You're right. A greater honor would be being burned over and over on TV by Steven Martin AND Martin Short.
this should have millions of views. steve martin is one of very few "pure white lights of comedy".
"I had already out that aside" - Classic
I thought I could applause normally...but it looks like I can't even do that
Steve Martin I love his acting ,the passionate comedy acting
Steve Martin, people will go out of their way to watch an interview with him because he is always funny/
i LOVEEEEEEEEEEEEEE STEVE MARTIN!!!!
I feel lucky to have seen Steve Martin do stand up in Las Vegas in the 70s. John Sebastian opened.
Those two guys are so funny I love it.
Even I didn't understand it. I think he meant that Steve Martin, one of the best comics of all time is making way for the new best comic of our time.
Steve Martin is awesome..and I love Conan...
I’d love to see Steve Martin, Martin Short and Russell Brand have a chat.
Never considered that combo- 🤯🤯🤯 Makes me happy just imagining the ridiculous things that would be said
a true living legend
Tour de force show appearance! Fabulously funny the entire segment.
planes, trains and automobiles never gets old I find :) classic
Conans hair is very high here
Steve Martin to me kind of looks like Harrison Ford or that they should be brothers
+David Gonzalez Yea now that you mention it they could almost be brothers or cousins or something, especially seeing his face in profile with Harrison in mind.
I've always thought that myself. Steve Martin's like the goofier, less dashing younger brother of Ford or something ha.
meh
more like Robin Williams brother
David Gonzalez n
Steve Martin looks exactly like Mike Myers in that "shark photo" :)
in my mind, chevy was taking the pictures.

The audience just bursts in laughter!
The Three Amigos bro... Awesome!
omg russel brand is amazing on conan even when hes not on conan
It’s so weird that he would have any interest in Russell Brand that when he said that I kept thinking does he mean THAT Russell Brand, but I don’t suppose there’s any other!
I wish steve would have said not only are we dangerously short of time we are"martin short" of time
Nooo...
Which is why you'll never be on Conan....or TH-cam.
You should at least give your own comment a single 'like'....so it has one.

Am I the only one giving likes to the Authentical "Team Coco".
Those who don't... Suck it
"ugly palm tree blocks my ocean view." if i was half as funny as him...the possibilities are endless.
Well your dad sounds like a cool guy
Steve Martin would've been a good joker with that smile of his.
Would be cool if Chevy Chase vacationed with them as well!
*Three amigos*
That took me about 10 seconds to figure out Russell Brands dig.
I'm sure there will be more. Change always happens.
Steve Martin could play a great joker with that smile
When did Steve Martin become a well kept Santa Claus?
uhh 1985?

lol he's so good he kills by proxy.
its a metaphor hahahaha
What does the last joke mean
"I had already put that aside" haha
Sorry if I spoiled it lol

thanks for the clarification

Black Keys FTW
@bowldamage Oh, Russel Brand was refering to their careers.
It won't be the same dammit!

Instead of telling the Russell Brand story, I would've just said, "Chevy Chase."
Why?
Sarah Grace Fitzpatrick Because his wit in the comedy realm was unmatched.
because its a better story if its Chevy Chase. Russell Brand today is "who?"

Magmaster13 he’s looking better
Dakota Fanning is terrible
Hmm, I don't see Letterman doing that.
@Dantezim1 Russel Brand's stand-up is hilarious. His movies are just shit.
Is Conan fake laughing?? Because I haven’t laughed yet
I don't get the Russel Brand joke. A metaphor for what, sex?
I have never found Steve Martin funny at all and he’s still not.
Russel brand is a comedian? How?
He's good, but he definitely isn't a great actor.
he's a poor black child
Nothing funny here about Steve Martin. Nothing.
Russel Brand roasted Steve Martin in passing. That's what I heard.
