      AND In a midsize, you get better velocity, better capacity, better sight radius, less recoil... they are pretty great

      @@crankygunreviewsExcept for round cost and some limitations due to less power (optics and heavy slides sometimes makes them unreliable). But hopefully it will get better.

      @@Shadow__133 yeah round cost sucks, for people that care about recoil and weight, cost can be less of an issue.

      @@crankygunreviews Indeed. I wanted to get a sec 380 for my father, because 9mm was getting difficult to rack. I also use 380 on a pocket lcp.
      Still a niche market, but I do hope the mid/full/compact+ 380 market also grows and prices come down.

    In gun friendly states, the Ruger comes with a 10 and 15 round magazine. Very nice!

    Thanks, just added.380 to my reloads, and want something fun to shoot them in. Have a PPK and Ruger LCP Max, and both are no fun to put a lot of rounds down range. Was leaning towards the Ruger due to the price.

    Nice comparison! I like the recent trend of non-micro 380s. The p365 comes in 380 now too.
    My dad chose the Smith EZ 380 a while back. He grew up on a farm in the midwest and is a Vietnam vet... Pretty tough guy. But he has terrible arthritis in his hands now, and he couldn't pull the trigger on his 38 revolver anymore. The Smith EZ platform works perfectly for him.
    I'd love to see if the Ruger 380 fits his hands any better. He doesn't care for the Smith grip safety.

      Honestly, the midsize .380 is an amazing size to recoil package. I watch Gun Sam Revolver Oficiando a lot and he has come to a similar conclusion. Micro guns are great for what they are, but people hate them because they're "snappy" - buy a slightly larger gun, and the recoil feels like a 22 mag, it has a better capacity, better sight radius, and it gets rid of a lot of the barriers. They shoot so well too!

    • @CarolinaRimfire
      @CarolinaRimfire ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@crankygunreviewsCouldn't agree more. And I like Sam's videos too. He has some good thoughts and tests.
      It's incredible how different 380 feels in a LCP vs the Smith EZ. Night and day. Plus you get all the advantages of the larger platform.

  • @alejandrovargas7592

    If they bring out an improved version of the S&W 380 EZ, with more capacity, (in effect what they did with the "Equalizer" vs the S&W EZ 9MM), I'd probably get one ! I want more rounds as I would carry it. If they don't I'm likely getting the Walther PDP-F, which is damn near perfect for my requirements and preferences.

      @@rbm6184 Saw your comment, just wanted to drop some of my experience with the Thunders. I carried a Walther PPK/S for several years, loved the look just never liked the gun overall with just 7+1 round capacity and I didn't like the sights much. So when I saw Bersa bring out the Thunder, to me it had the look I loved and it had an 8+1 round capacity and improved sights.
      Now a few years later I got the Bersa Thunder Plus, more rounds same great gun, or so I thought... Took it out of the box, gave it a good cleaning and out to the range. I fired 8 rounds and and the 9th one jammed, cleared it them the 10th round jammed, rinse and repeat through that clip and during the next clip the slide was stuck... I couldn't remove it, unjam the round, nothing. I took it back and had to have it sent off. Apparently there is a 2mm "E" clip in the handle that broke. I got it back 6 weeks later and again cleaned it and back to the range. I fired about 35 rounds when the slide spring broke... Well it isn't baseball, they didn't get 3 strikes. I returned it for my money back.
      That's just my experience with Bersa, the thunder was a pretty decent pistol, the Plus however... nah, not for me it wasn't.

      Technically it doesn't come with any clips, comes with magazines... I may have gotten confused between the Secrutiy 380 and the Max-9 - I think the max 9 has 10 and 12 round mags. You're right, this would come with 10 and 15 round mags if I was in a free state.. Instead I got 3 10 round mags.

      Yeah, I haven’t really looked much further, I had a Sig Sauer P238 for a couple years, it was nice, but was a little more ammo picky and I shot the S&W bodyguard .380 better than the P238. That said, I regret selling the P238 because values have gone way up and it was a nice gun. I think I broke even on it though… and I keep my eyes open for a hood deal on a used one

    Are the Ruger and the S&W blowback operated as well? The S&W would be a clear winner without that grip safety. Might be interesting if they made a Shield Plus .380.

    • @crankygunreviews
      @crankygunreviews  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The Ruger and S&W have tilting barrels whereas the Beretta barrel stays in place and all the recoil is taken by the mass of the slide which is why they feel snappy and have a stiffer recoil spring.
