    Very cool. That is set 11490 from 1964 consisting of 212P/212T and 2404, 05 and 06 passenger cars less illumination and silhouettes.

    I've finally discovered what the buildings are!!!!! They're actually Playskool Village Wooden Blocks!!! Makes sense, since ABC severely cut the show's budget in the second season. So, I would assume that the director instructed the props department to go to a local 5 & Dime store to purchase new train sets and other items for the prop of Gomez's train layout. Now, trying to find the proper Playskool Village Wooden Blocks set with the slanted roofs is going to be a task! So far, at this point, eBay hasn't been any help with that. But to attempt to complete my goal of building season two's layout, I've gotta keep pursuing this. Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

      How Interesting you’re right they indeed used Playskool wooden village buildings. Dang you’re not kidding they built that second layout on a shoestring budget. No wonder they cheapened out and only used a scout set and middle ranged Alco passenger set. I see what what you mean about those slanted roof pieces I can’t find any photos of them in a set. Perhaps the prop dept. diagonally cut a rectangular block to get that shape to form factory building? That’s all I can suggest to duplicate it. If not you could cut a piece of wood to that size and paint in the windows to match

      I believe that you're 100% right! So I may just build the second season using those methods. Many people have been trying to get me to choose the 1st season's layout. But building that one to screen accuracy, that will cost me a fortune for which I do not have.

      That’s probably cause the super O layout had the famous crash scene on the elevated track and is more recognizable. Although I’d have to agree building the 031 layout won’t kill your wallet and no one’s recreated it yet

      I just purchased some Playskool Village Wooden Blocks off of eBay. When they arrive, I'll start work on the BIG GALLON building and the Lionel canisters building. I'll probably do some customizing and improvement on the second season layout. i.e. the crossing gate arms closer to the track, unlike they had in the series. I'm already getting excited about it. Now, all I need to do is discover what Lionel train sets that were actually used in the series. I hope to build this as screen accurate as possible. Any advice or info on this layout will greatly be appreciated.

      If you check the description I’ve already ID’ed the both locomotives and the passenger cars. For the freight train they used a 11470 set occasionally swapping out cars in some scenes and replaced the stock work caboose with what looks like a 6824 rescue unit caboose ontop of a black Lionel frame (gonna be hard to recreate). They also swapped tenders using a 237W coffin tender rather than the short streamlined tender. As to track everyone’s been saying 027 but to my eyes that’s definitely 031 with the flared ties.

    You know in the one episode when Gomez says he just wrecked his last locomotive, I guess we should tell him about train shows huh?

    • @richardstrainsandmore
      @richardstrainsandmore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Don’t give him ideas! He’d go and blow up every locomotive at those shows!

    • @maxm2317
      @maxm2317 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      And don’t give him any modern explosives like C4 or Tannerite either! The layouts would immediately be reduced to warzones and smoldering craters! And when I say “warzone,” I’m NOT referring to the game mode from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare.

    Merry Christmas 2020 A.D., from Green Bay, Go Packers, to Superbowl 2021, and bring the Lombardi Trophy back Home!! Both the Addams and Packers were very popular in the 1960s when black and white TV was still normal. Gomezes' Lionel O guage were on one of the shows with trains like Petticoat Junction, and Gunsmoke, usually with a lot of repeated scenes. But sometimes the real Sierra No.3 had a new coat of paint with new railroad name and number, and the smokestack also changed from the familiar large wide funnel, to straight stack sometimes with brass cap accent on top, to short diamond with straight lower section. But Gomez's disappearing O guage train is one of the best edited pieces of special effects, because it involved split screen, double exposure, comedic timing, and the editing. When the passenger train disappears into the right side of the tunnel. Usually you can see a shift in scenery, or a lighting change with different shadows, or the film element do not line up properly. Luckily that did not happen. Then as the train blasts out of the left portal with deep horn blaring, Carolyn/Mortician jumps back; n surprise. Then Gomez/John is also surprised until he can grab the detonator and push. But the sequence is spoiled because the editors used the regular stock footage of the original head on collision with explosion. Well is someone out there in TH-cam Land , going to make special passenger train wreck and explosion on the bridge then edit it in, with original sound effects??? Challenge. Happy New Year 2021 A.D. Plus Happy 50th Anniversary to Amtrak since 1971. Plus we need Amtrak here for the Packers because we are the oldest team in the NFL that does NOT have access to Amtrak passenger trains for all these 50 years. So, we can't travel South to Chicago for a game against the Bears nor any other team in the Midwest and around the USA. Please write a real letter for the U.S. Mail, to President Trump, plus the new guy, to fix this problem. This year of 2021 is also the 80th Anniversary of the Union Pacific "BIG BOY" 4-8-8-4 articulated Mallet locos 4000 class of 1941, with the first 20 built exclusively for the UPRR. With 7 of 8 saved at museums around the USA like 4017 here in GB since 1961. Plus 4014 repaired in Cheyenne last year in 2019 for the 150th Anniversary of the Golden Spike in Promontory and celebration in Ogden. Plus a semi-national tour. But hopefully some day they can work with an Eastern Railroad to get 4014 to New York City or Washington DC, or even Strasbourg, or Helmstetters Curve, and other historic locations. So come on railroads. Step in and make this dream come true, OK.!! All Aboard !! Highball!! LLsL, - -.- / !!-! SES, ok @ 2043p, Sat., January 9, 2021 A.D.

    Can anyone identify the make and model of this particular tunnel please?

    • @richardstrainsandmore
      @richardstrainsandmore  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I wrote in a previous comment that it appears to be a “Keiding O scale tunnel” made from paper mache. Search that and you’ll find similar looking examples. The tunnel at the far right in this auction is the same type as used in the show except it doesn’t list any manufacturer info

      No problem! If you do build the layout you oughta post photos or a video to TH-cam to show how it turned out. I’m curious what it looks like in color

    • @punkrockpub
      @punkrockpub 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      This skit is the only one with the tunnel. I may just leave it off and use the lighted beacon instead. As seen in other film clips.

  • @trainliker100
    @trainliker100 ปีที่แล้ว

    Actually, the way the train seems to disappear into the tunnel and reappear can be done (although for the TV show they probably did it differently). Lionel developed a novelty "Disappearing Train" display layout that did exactly that. You can see one in operation at this TH-cam video: th-cam.com/video/utuTnDjrI34/w-d-xo.html

      Thank you sir. I hope to be able to find out how to build the buildings that are seen on the layout. The one that has the BIG GALLON on it and the one next to it with the two tanks that are mounted on its roof.

    • @richardstrainsandmore
      @richardstrainsandmore  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Lionel did make a few cardboard cut out buildings for starter sets but none closely resemble the factory type one on the layout. They were likely made just for the show

    • @punkrockpub
      @punkrockpub 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I agree. Would you have any idea what the tanks on the roof of the next building could be made of?

    • @richardstrainsandmore

      Those appear to be standard Lionel gondola canisters used as gondola loads. They’re similar to the ones here
