A channel dedicated to railfanning in and around Southern California and videos of my small Lionel 027 styled O scale layout.
Quick Saturday Run With a Pair of Lionel MPC GP9s
Been a while since the last video, but with the layout in a mess here’s a short run of a 14 car freight headed by 2 GP9’s. Both are powered Erie Lackawanna 8759 engines and despite what most think of the MPC era they actually operate very smoothly with a little TLC. There’s lots more I need to work on such as getting the new engine yard wired, connecting the new accessories, and clearing out the inner loop of stored cars.
As always, thank you for watching and hope to post more soon!

Merry Christmas To Everyone!
มุมมอง 2967 หลายเดือนก่อน
While it’s been a rough year on this end I want to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy Holidays! There wasn’t much time to put together this video but I hope you all enjoy it. As always, thank you for watching! Trains running were a 2046 Hudson and MPC 8463 pulling consists from the previous video.
First Christmas Layout Run
มุมมอง 1927 หลายเดือนก่อน
It’s hard to believe it’s been a year since last Christmas’s layout special. For this year I’ve tried to put out even more decorations to celebrate. Thank you everyone for watching and I apologize for the lack of uploads these past months. This year has been rough and here’s to hoping next year gets better! Engines operating tonight include: Repainted MPC 8005 4-4-0 with modified baby Madison c...
Happy Halloween Everyone!
มุมมอง 6078 หลายเดือนก่อน
It’s Halloween again and there’s no better way to celebrate than with a few O gauge trains and Gomez. I was a little short on time this year but still was able to put together a video at the last minute. Hope you all enjoy it! As always, thank you for watching and happy Halloween!
More Layout Construction and Train Run
มุมมอง 4408 หลายเดือนก่อน
While it’s been almost 10 months since the last video I’ve been working on several changes to my small 11’x11’ layout. The yard tracks were removed and replaced by a coal ramp, 2 engine houses, and the infamous Culvert Loader and Unloader. Most of the additions haven’t been wired yet but 2 trains can still be run. Tonight’s trains were a mix of postwar and MPC era engines and cars such as an AT...
New Year New Trains!
มุมมอง 932ปีที่แล้ว
While it may be too late to wish everyone a Happy New Year I thought I’d post a new video featuring some recent additions. To make it different, the trains are all out of sequence in the video but here are some highlights. 1. Custom Williams Western Pacific F7s. These started out as PRR units in rough shape but I repainted them in Western Pacific Colors. 2. “Junk box special” Lionel 2056 with B...
Merry Christmas Everyone!
มุมมอง 512ปีที่แล้ว
The last half of this year has been quite a rollercoaster of a ride and have found little time for new videos. Fortunately I made enough time for a Christmas special as we do every year. For today we have a Pennsylvania Flyer 0-8-0 (the first working O gauge train I received) and a modified MTH 2-6-0 pulling Williams cars. I still have lots of more projects to complete and the MTH engine was on...
Happy Halloween Everyone!
มุมมอง 1Kปีที่แล้ว
With as little spare time I had available I was able to crank out another Halloween special this time featuring the original Addams Family show train wreck. The stars of this special are the trusty 2343 Santa Fe F3 along with a 2016 2-6-4 steam locomotive and my repainted GP9 in M&STL colors. Fortunately no trains were harmed in the making. Hope you all have a great Halloween and as always than...

We’re back! And with an invasion of high hood diesels ranging from GP7’s and GP9’s to a few SD7’s pulling freights and passenger trains. Some are repaints or chassis modifications to ride lower on cab motor trucks. Locomotives in order of appearance include: Lionel Rio Grande GP9 K-Line Union Pacific GP7 Lionel Boston & Maine SD9 Lionel 8357 Pennsylvania GP9 Lionel 2338 Milwaukee Road GP7 Lione...
Two New Lionel 2328 Geeps
มุมมอง 5122 ปีที่แล้ว
It’s been a long break from the last video but here are 2 new “Geeps” I’ve assembled from various parts and two 2328 chassis. The first is an 8250 Santa Fe GP9 shell riding on a 2328 frame that was originally paint but repainted black with a yellow pinstripe. The second is an original Burlington GP7 with a damaged frame that needed to be repainted red. Both have working bicycle horns and are ex...
Merry Christmas Everyone!

While it may be pouring rain here in Southern California I wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year! For today’s special many have requested the Disneyland railroad trains so I’ve brought them out all in their green and red splendor. There’s also a last minute package train complete with presents for those who were nice and coal for naughty kids! (A suggestion by Greg Baird). Lastly...
Jingle Bells And More O Gauge Christmas Trains
มุมมอง 6542 ปีที่แล้ว
Continuing the Holiday spirit here are a few more O gauge trains plus one G scale train around the tree. First is an MTH Amtrak F40ph pulling superliner passenger cars followed by a Williams Virginian Trainmaster pulling a train of Christmas presents. Of course at the beginning is a Bachmann 4-6-0 big hauler pulling a mixed freight/passenger train. The song is Jingle Bells by Firehouse 5 Plus 2...

One of my favorites
Thought you'd show how you did the fix!😢
The Bumblebee loco is gorgeous! I could swear I had seen a Lionchief version in that color scheme, but I searched online and found nothing, so yours might very well be the only one in existence.
@@michaelramsey82 why thank you! Perhaps you were thinking of MTH’s 4-6-0? I believe they made one in bumblebee colors and possibly as a 2-8-0 too.
@@richardstrainsandmore I think you're right - what I'm remembering is the MTH 4-6-0 in the Bumblebee scheme.
Such An Idiot

In all honesty, this ride wasn't bad, but nothing about it screamed Disney magic or excitement, it would have fared much better at Universal Studios.

How did you know the trains you got the right steam engine I'm not sure if the diesel but the steam engine is in the movie great job on the video
“How do you take it off? That’s absurd! That finger trap was a party favor at his tenth birthday!”
Bro caused a massive earthquake by crashing 2 toy trains 💀
Love how Thing is emoting for him with that fist slam while Gomez has his hands full with the controls for his trains.
As a Garfield and Lionel fan this was awesome to see even if it was only a few seconds
Apparently these 17 seconds were enough screen time for Garfield to think he can operate a Railway switch Tower

RIP Raul Julia as he was the best actor for Gomez Addams.
I'd come as a big guy looking forward to the derailment scenes... and it turns out to be the same recycled one every time. OUCH in childhood. At least later movies honored the train layout.
I love that hard loco chuff ! AND the Smoke! Unfortunately Lionel Trains don't do that, but to some degree Gilberts American Flyer S gauge trains.
“He’s using the diesel…”
Winnie the pooh belongs in fantasyland
1:39 director cameo. But also funny as hell. For a man who was dying from stomach cancer Raul Julia really had the time of his life as Gomez Addams.
Just loved that stunt with the disappearing train - even though I can guess how they did it, it is still funny.
That's no way to treat decent model trains!
PS Love the living passenger in the coach going past Gomez. Mad Magazine had a similar gag, years back, in a parody of 12 o'clock High
it took like 10 days to get him back on the ride
1:52 Just needed that train
Irrelevant question, but what did you use to film this?
A pleasant surprise : a tinplate loco and train being run at a slower speed enabling it to be seen !
Raul Julia left this world too early. I could imagine him reprising his role as Gomez Addams a few more times and produce the same amount of energy as he did in this movie and its sequel.
He was going to play him in a third Addams Family film but he died shortly before pre-production began so the film was cancelled.
@MrDHWong1989 I thought they ended up making a third Addams Family movie that took place in the same universe as the first 2 movies, despite Raul Julia's passing. They just recasted all the actors in that movie, with Tim Curry replaced Raul Julia as Gomez Addams.
@@OmnicidalClown1992 They did make another live action Addams Family film (Addams Family Reuinion), but it followed a different continuity and was direct-to-video with a new cast except for Lurch and Thing.
Just Found This Channel Today, Just Subbed. I Like This.
There's some product placements in this movie, even on Jon arbuckle's model railway, mostly for Wendy's and pepsi. I think it was garfield's idea that he always has ideas no matter how much trouble they cause.
It's like watching Biden manage the Country...only not as much fun...
I really miss being at the Fullerton train station. The people I was around were very friendly. That was one place that you could enjoy watching the trains come through there.
Lesson:Dont play near train tracks.
Manual switches unbeatable on price and reliability. A magnet stuck under the milk platform helps stop spilled cans.
My uncle was a Lionel dealer and service center if you could find that original set that was on the show set $$$$$$.
Is it just me or one of your videos are deleted?
A few were. A while ago I deleted a couple of older videos that were either bad quality or just had low views. I didn’t think they were worth keeping in the channel
@@richardstrainsandmore Well, that means there are fewer Disneyland Railroad videos on your channel. I mean, you still have some obviously, but still, there will be fewer videos of the things that happened in the railroad, like loud whistles engineers made on the locomotive, emergency stops, and new whistles, especially the Lunkenheimer 3"1 chime whistle, which sounds similar to CK Holiday and Ward Kimball former whistles Fred Gurley temporarily had in 2018 and Ernest S Marsh Lunkenheimer 3 chime whistle with the roundhouse crews in 2019. BTW, I'm not asking you to bring back the deleted videos. I understand the reason for deleting them; I just want to express one of my favorite videos on your channel.
nice to see a small o gauge layout it is what I am working on.
Anyone notice when he says “Give me a sign” it cuts to the semaphore going into the red position? Edit: also, I’m pretty sure the reason that one of the passenger cars has a Vista Dome even though the official line of cars don’t is because they are actually Williams “Luxury lines” passenger cars, which came with a Clifton in that exact paint scheme
I noticed.
I'd like to know how you got the 6 wheeled motor pack into the 1656. How many modifications did you have to make. Motor pack from a 675?
I used a 2026 motor frame but any of the smaller 6 wheeled steam engine motors will work. I do remember the brush plate had to have the older “tube” style brush holders to fit inside the shell. The motor also mounted to the shell through a pre drilled hole in the 1656 shell that lines up with the rear motor mount. Some parts of the inner shell did have to be removed using a dremel. There were more like having to make connecting rods that fit but I forget the specifics. If you have any more questions feel free to ask!
@richardstrainsandmore Thanks for the information. I may have to give it a try, the 6 wheeled steam switchers work better over switches than the 4 wheeled ones.
@@postwarlionelguy3815 I did end up buying another switcher where somebody already converted it to an 0-6-0 and it did seem to run better through switches. It definitely had better speed control than the normal 0-4-0s
Legit one of the best songs for a classic Mickey mouse cartoon. Only part i don't like is that this cut out the tapping sounds goofy made while slipping that were in rhythm with the song
I swear once this cartoon goes into the public domain I'd 100 use this song for a cartoon
Knowing this is 2 year old video, but it is still a good old Lionel postwar showing and that never gets old.😊😊
Fun fact: The train is full sized and Gomez rides it in the Super Nintendo game
Awesome collection of trains right here. And the collection is phenomenal! Thanks for sharing it with us! PS: any plans to return to Disneyland to see the EP Ripley.
Thank you! It’s a headache to keep them all maintained! I’ve stopped making Disneyland videos as there are dozens of other uploads that are much better than anything I could do. That and my schedule has gotten too busy to visit the park often
@@richardstrainsandmore not a problem. I understand traveling can be a pain these days. But I’m still thankful for what you now have!
Any plans to revisit the WDW Railroad now that the train is back up and running?
Looks great !
