  • I use my Dremel tool & etch a hand drawn pattern on to dichroic glass. It's SO easy and a lot of fun. I hope you give it a try.

    I love your vids. I can't help but smile about how we glass fusers do all the 'don'ts'..... don't play with sharp objects..(right.... lemme just score and snap this glass into shards) .. don't touch electrical items near water (right.. lemme just turn on my dremel and poke it into water to start carving away at the glass shard I made earlier...) ... Still, it's a hobby I just love doing and I love watching your vids on how to do interesting and fun little projects. Thanks :)

    So beautiful. I’m curious. Do you not have to anneal small pieces.

    Love your videos. They are so inspiring. Thank you so much, for doing them. When snipping off the little bits around the leaf, are there any precautions you need to take? Besides wearing safety glasses. I see bits flying everywhere. Do you ever get shards stuck in your fingers?

      Judi Morningstar great question. Yes I do! I suggest wearing all the protection you can. Save yourself the pain. 😁

    Hi! Love your videos! Really enjoyed this one, the leaves are stunning!! I’m just getting started, got a microwave kiln for Christmas. My question is what kind of fiber paper do you use to fuse the leaves on? It’s all fluffed up like cotton! Thanks so much for sharing!!

    • @SusanMcGarryGlass
      @SusanMcGarryGlass  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The fluffy fiber is something I get from the ceramic supply store. They use it in their kilns so it goes up to a very high temperature. I believe it's called fiber blanket.

    A very inspiring tutorial - Thank you! 2 questions concerning adding the bail: You said 275 degrees at 20 minutes; is that Celsius or Fahrenheit? And the bails themselves, are they made especially to be used in the kiln? I love the idea of curing the E6000 for peace of mind that it will hold.

      @SusanMcGarryGlass  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Glasshaus Italy you’re welcome! 2 great questions! That’s 275F (I try the remember to give it in Celsius but sometimes forget) & no they are not special bails. The 275F is just enough to cure the glue but not hot enough to ruin the bail. It can be done in your kiln or oven. Happy Fusing!

    Thank you so much for all your great tutorials Susan! I really appreciate all the time & effort you take & your awesome generosity in sharing your knowledge with us!
    Question on curing the E6000 in a regular oven. Is it still safe to use the oven for cooking food after using it to cure E6000? I know the adhesive gives off terrible fumes without even baking it! I also know you can’t use an oven for food prep after heating polymer clay in it, because of the chemical contamination. Doesn’t the E6000 also contaminate the oven used?

      I'm not sure what Susan would say but I'd invest in a 2nd-hand toaster oven for that.

    Your videos are always so informative! I wanted to send a gift in the mail right away for Mother's Day but have not attached the bail yet. Is it quicker to attach with E6000 or with 2 part epoxy? How long does it take to set with epoxy? Also if I use 2 part epoxy to set the bail, does it still need to go into the oven to set.

      @SusanMcGarryGlass  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Bill Ross that’s very nice but no need to send me a gift. I have more pieces than I could ever wear but I’d love to see a picture! 2 part epoxy is the fastest but not always the best. It doesn’t require curing in the oven. I prefer E6000 and like to cure it in the oven for a really good bond.

    Nice video and excellent explanation. Are the Dremel bits diamond?

      Thanks Bob Falk! They are cheap diamond bits from Harbor Freight. But they last forever.

    Great video! Why do you bake the pendants with the glued on bails in the oven?

    • @SusanMcGarryGlass
      @SusanMcGarryGlass  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      wsisko5084 I do bake the glued on bails in the oven but it can be done in your kiln.

    Hi, i noticed that two of the three leaves have what appears to be a pitted surface while the third one has a sleek unpitted surface. How was this pitted surface achieved, please? New subbie here. XTIBBYX

      Whymsical Dreamer great question. It’s simply a different type of dichroic glass. I believe the rough ones are dichroic crinkle glass. Uncovered it looks crinkled. Fun stuff to play with.

    Hi I have several glass cutters but none of them cut the glass properly certainly wouldn't be able to do a shape I'm lucky if it snaps straight so I don't know what I am doing wrong.

    • @SusanMcGarryGlass
      @SusanMcGarryGlass  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jo Baker there are a lot of tutorials on cutting glass with a glass cutter but some of the highlights are to make sure the cutting wheel is sharp & you are using the correct pressure. And NEVER go over a line once you have scored it with the cutter. You might find a tutorial on GlassCampus.com. Hang in there!
