  • If you are having heating issues or coolant leaks on your Fiat 500, you may need to replace your thermostat. Its a very easy job. Here I show you how I do it.
The original items may have plastic fittings that can fail and cause big problems. It is considered the most appropriate action to replace these before they fail.
    Always replace with metal units.

    Great video.
My hose snapped off flush at the thermostat, leaked all the coolant, and overheated in seconds... and this was the only video showing new how to access it.

Just changed one on my ford ka , I specifically got one that has a metal outlet and not plastic as mine snapped on the old one which was plastic . Eurocarparts have one that’s all metal . £33

I just finished my Abath thermostat .there is literally no room to get your hands in and the place that the 10mm bolts are there completely covered with more engine😂 thanks for this vid

Thanks for the video, it helped me fix my girlfriends 2013 Fiat. Battery and battery tray removed very easily but after that i ran into problems with the hoses and electrical plug being very stubborn to come out. After some wiggling with grips the electrical plug came off (in the process it appears i may have damaged the clip but it goes back on quite snug). I went to unclip the small hose and in the process the plastic fitting sheared off leaving just the big hose to disconnect. I unbolted the thermostat to make it easier. I then used a flat head screwdriver to pry the hose and spray some WD40 down it. This made it 10x easier. I did the same to the small hose to pull out what was left of the plastic fitting. When putting coolant back into the system, left the blue cap on and opened the bleeder screw. Got the engine up to temperature and kept foot down on the accelerator pedal until coolant started to appear.
