I was just transported back to my childhood and discovered the Mr. Rogers of Beekeeping (i think that’s a huge compliment by the way)! Thanks for great video! Just subscribed! I think this is the first one of your videos that I found! My priorities are: New siding for the sheep barn, build up the rabbitry, hire a local person to help my wife and I on the farm, get some sheep handling equipment because we’re getting older, honey collection equipment and be able to support our local food bank. We have plenty of folks locally that need help. God bless. Sometimes the best work to do is the work that’s in front of you.

I would provide All the money to those organization that help others that are less fortunate like to food pantries and to organizations that help children that have medical issues like cancer, BECAUSE no child deserves or should suffer tragedies like this. As a side note This my first ever comment in any video that I have watched. Thanks for taking the time to help us new bee keepers. My first year my bees made it through the winter, so making my first split!

Hi David. Based in the UK, our climate/weather may be different, but it's always useful to see how you approach matters, especially - in this case - splits. With regards to your giveaways, I 'm not in the US, to benefit but hey go. Unlimited money - Anything I like and yes, charity is a big part of that. In Europe we have a lottery which often gives £100mn and a recent winner has already given multiple millions to friends and family.

First year beekeeper here and the learning curve is REAL. Your videos and classes have helped me so much! If I had all the money, I'd either endow a library with extension programs about regreening, greenspaces, nature and farming...or I'd love to get good enough at bees to bring this to my college campus. Wouldn't it be cool to learn beekeeping in college?

If you think the first year is steep, wait until you hit about year 3 and think you've finally got it figured out, just to be reminded that you know nothing and bees don't read the rules of beekeeping. lol Year 4 is quite humbling.

Interesting! I've had bees for a couple years, but never felt confident enough to make a split. It looks possible! My wife and I are retired and feel fortunate to have sufficient resources to "make it". If we had all the money in the world, we'd probably make sure that our family was OK, and then share the wealth with the charitable groups we support now. Our church (which supports the homeless and hungry), education, public broadcasting, and a few others. We'd also probably get a little fancier with our beekeeping! Thanks for all the great information in a format that's so interesting!

I'm so glad I've come across your videos. This week I just ordered my first hive. I live in West Potsdam New York. I'm so excited to get started learning, collecting bees and caring for them in my new hive. I am growing my own food and making my art. One of my art media is painting with encaustic wax. I have been painting in encaustic for many years. Last year I was given some bee casting which I used to make my own wax. It was awesome getting over 3 pounds of wax in the end. I took photos of my process. It made me really want to keep bees even thouogh for years I watched videos on other beekeeper doing there thing. I eat honey every day in my oatmeal and tea so it will be great having my own bees making it for me.
If I had a lot of money I would repair the roof on my barn garage, insulate and heat it so I can have an art studio of my dreams. I could teach there and really enjoy using my printing presses and using my wax in some great art work.

I'm a Maryland beekeeper, and also a foster/adoptive parent. If I had all the money in the world, I would buy a string of houses, and I would put loving foster parents in them, housing them for free so that they can be full-time parents to youth in foster care. Children who have experienced trauma often need parents who can dedicate more time to their needs. No child should be without a family, even temporarily :)

Transportation to and from as well if needed. I wish I could have gotten interested in bee keeping when I was young. Dave if I had the resources I would start a bread bakery, make & sell rustic loaves and goods employing people needing a hand up. Profits going to expand and assist with basic needs like transportation, education and housing. It's always been my dream as I see how so many good people are one paycheck away from losing their footing into homelessness. A productive safety net!

Thank you so much for all you do! If I had unlimited money I would purchase several acres of land to start a homestead with me and my little family. I love teaching my kids (ages 6,8 and 14) how to be self sufficient. They love watching your videos with me and are so excited to pick up our first nuc hive this week! Again, thank you for taking the time to film and upload all of this content to share with us. Looking forward to your next video and binge watching the rest!

We have never been able to have security or insurance, etc. If we had a huge amount of money, it would mean peace and security, more than getting 'stuff'. We would also love to donate to a few charities we admire, like mercyship, st. judes, and animal welfare. For ourselves, we would just love to buy a little ancient thatched cottage in England and move to the UK! We would still keep bees of course! Thanks for a great video, Dave. ~Adam and Mary in New Hampshire

I have followed your videos . Your advice on stopping hive robbery is on spot .
I live in an area ( South Central Texas where the local population of wild bees are 70% Africanized bees ) and I have been successful to stop robbing from the local wild bees . The pressures on domesticated honeybees are very high and I have followed your advice to help those rogue bees in hand .

Hi Rod, unfortunately, bees are so perishable and sensitive to shipping issues or production issues. Many hands are handling a queen that you buy. Any of those fingers could pinch her too hard. These huge bee supply companies try to do a good job, but it is difficult to find workers to work bees. They produce such huge volume of packages and queens, that they work in a fury of activity for just a few months a year. Honestly, they cannot listen to their mistakes. But, you have the option just to be understanding, they tried but failed and try a different smaller company next year.

If I had unlimited money I would start an insurance company that would accept alternative methods of health care. Homeopathy, acupuncture, herbal teas, etc. This would change the health care industry as we know it for the better. Thanks for all the great bee keeping advice David!

New to beekeeping! I got my first package today! It went so well! Now I want to learn as much as I can and make sure to keep them as healthy and happy as possible!
I don’t have a mentor and would love to someday have the knowledge so I can help other new beekeepers!

Awesome 5/2 Dave! I’d Identify a group of people to compile a list of needs from which priorities for resources can be designated and a inspection process established to determine the resulting effectiveness of those allocations. 😅

With unlimited money, I would buy a large tract of land that would suited to managing and preserving wildlife, (bees included), and set up training program to teach others how to help manage wildlife and raise bees. A lofty idea, I know. Right now, in central Wisconsin, I have RARELY seen any bees let alone a swarm in the last three months. I am assuming that is because of how dry it has been. But I still put up a swarm trap that has remained maddingly empty the last 3 months. If I would get a swarm right now, I would still collect it and do my best to keep it going.

Thanks David, I appreciate the video! This is some timely information for me. I had a swarm move in (accidentally on purpose) in a spot by the garage and they will need to move more then 3 feet and less then 3 miles. I think I will try to reorient them maybe with the branch method. It’s too far to move them 2-3 feet a day plus I will have to move them on a hill. I hope your season is off to a great start. We’ve been into the tulip poplar for a couple of weeks now and the privets are starting to bloom where I am here In GA.

First year bee keeping. Learning from my mentor Linda here in Rhode Island I have one hive that swarmed from her hive. Love watching your video’s, you are patient in explaining everything you’re doing. So important to us newbie’s. If I had unlimited resources, I would buy more land and retire so I can enjoy mother earth’s beauty and wildlife here.

If I had all the money I would ever need. I would finance the cure for all the world's sicknesses. I would also tell my wife and kids to retire. Another thing I would do is purchase more property and establish more pollinator areas so that the bee's and butterflies can prosper. And lastly I would finance the study on how to eradicate mites on honeybees. Great video. Enjoy the talks you give while working your bees.
