    **This video is in English**
    Este es el segundo video de una serie de dos. En el primero, habíamos hecho un cuenco de arce con la pared del lado de adentro y del lado de afuera tan esféricas como fue posible. En este segundo video, vamos a realizar torneado en múltiples ejes, haciendo uso de dicha esfericidad.
    **This is the second video in a series of two. In the first, we made a maple bowl, with the interior side and the exterior side of the wall as spherical as possible. In the second video, we are going to take advantage of that sphericity to turn in multiple axis.**

      Nothing wrong, I just have a very hard time with anything that isn't perfect english. Also I had to listen at low volume because my headphones are broken and my wife was sleeping in the next room. So nothing you did

      Jake aka Remaggib Oh! Cool! Sorry about my English! I am from Uruguay and although I have been living in the States for the last 25 years, still have a strong accent :). Thank you for letting me know! Cheers! Daniel

    • @Remaggib
      @Remaggib 8 ปีที่แล้ว

      Daniel, there are many who live in the US and don't even bother to try to learn the language. You don't have to apologize for your accent, like I say, woodworking is a universal language, and if I listen again louder I can make most of it out. No need to apologize for something you can't help, the fact you learned the language and do tutorials in it are huge, and I respect you a lot for that. I subscribed to you, and I'm sure after a few videos I will get better with understanding the accent!

    Hi Danial,
    Now that's just showing off!!! only joking my friend.
    The technical degree to this bowl is amazing, I was thinking all week that I would have a go at whatever Daniel does!.... yeah right oh lol the only part I would be able to do is sweep the floor lol.
    I would have been chuffed if I could turn the sphere jam chuck... seriously lol.
    I'll never forget that video, I feel honoured to have watched it.
    Fantastic... a woodturning genius in my view.
    Thanks for sharing, I have a feeling that this video will have many views and it deserves it.
    Take care my friend.
    Cheers

You should see the work of Hans Weissflog! I need to continue experimenting, because this is an area of woodturning that seems really interesting. Cheers! Daniel

    Beautiful work sir.👍🏾 I am new to your channel recommended by Gord Rock. Thanks for sharing your talent. I do wonder why you didn't use denatured alcohol to loosen the hot glue though.....

      @DanielVilarino  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Greg! Thank you, my friend, for watching the video and the nice comments and thanks to Gord for the Recommendation, he is a great woodturner and I watch his channel often! The video for that multiple axis turning was an old one, and I did not come on the tip of using denatured alcohol for loosening the hot glue yet. You can also use a heat gun for that as well. In other words, I learned a lot since then, hahahaha! Cheers! Daniel

    Excellent! Absolutely beautiful work. I really like solid parts on the top each of the exterior circles, it adds to the piece and is a really nice effect. It's not an error, it's an embellishment!!!!!!!!!

    @frankfitzpatrick882 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    Beautifully designed and finished Daniel, great craftsmanship involved.
    perhaps if you were to reposition the bowl after you cut each set of circles on the outside by 180 degrees. this is difficult to explain but if the bowl was on the bottom of the jam chuck in for original setup it would now be on the top for the new one and you would maintain the same centre point for the circles, so there is now 2 lines on your jam chuck with 2 marks to align to for each set of circles if that makes any sense
    Regards
    Frank

      +Frank Fitzpatrick Hi Frank! Thank you very much, dear friend, for the comments! And thanks for the suggestions. Yes, that could work, it was a bit frustrating that after all the shaping of the spheres the result was not what I originally intended. But, it was not bad either and I will have to keep trying. So, I am sure I will use your suggestion at some point. Cheers! Daniel

    Daniel, you certainly challenged yourself on this project. How many nights sleep did you lose planning ? !!! The final piece is beautiful & although not "perfect" in your eyes I think you should be very proud of yet another stunning piece of turning.
    Always a pleasure to watch you & your skills at work.

      +geofo60 Hi Geof! Thank you so much, dear friend, for your kind comments! And you are correct, the idea of turning something like this kept me awake for several hours, trying to find the best way to chuck the piece, how to do the multiple axis turning, what sort of jig I could make, etc. At the end, as I said, I am pretty satisfied with the result. It is just that I planned something a bit different, the catch in the first part and the non uniform cut in the second, sort of sent my plans sideways. I will keep trying though :) Cheers! Daniel

      Hi Steve! First, welcome to my channel, I hope you find there many inspiring videos. The one you watched was, indeed, a little out of the ordinary turning, I plan to do more of that stuff in the future. Regarding the music, if you check time stamp 30:45, you will see there the list of all the musical pieces I use, I always put that information at the end of my videos. In this particular one I used mostly classical music, including Les Toreadors, form the Opera Carmen from Georges Bizet, Eine Kleine Natchmusik from Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, William Tell Oberture from Rossini, Brandenburg Concerto No 4 first movement for Johann Sebastian Bach, the Flight of the Bumblebee from Nicolai Rimsky Korsakov, Cello Suite No. 1 from Bach as well, Rondo alla Turka from Mozart and a few others. I am glad you enjoyed the music. Cheers! Daniel

    I was thinking...
    if the bowl was first turned as a thick/large solid sphere with the outside rings carefully cut DEEPLY into it in the 4 places (rotating the sphere in a jam chuck)... then turn a spigot for the 4 jaw chuck you could then take the thick (overly large) sphere down to the outside shape of a bowl you want... then with careful measuring hollow the inside and sneak up on the internal rings until the proper thickness is achieved...resulting in the desired look...in theory.
    ive never tried this..but it makes sense in my mind.
    Good Video...thanks

    • @DanielVilarino
      @DanielVilarino  8 ปีที่แล้ว

      +SkunkTreeCarvings Hi my friend! Thank you very much for your comments and for the suggestion. It does make a lot of sense, doing what you say, would, in a way, determine the internal shape that best produces the intersect, even if that shape is not a perfect sphere. I really appreciate the idea and I should try it in a future! Cheers! Daniel

    Awesome bowl, Daniel! I admire your video work also. On the really close-up shots on the interior of the bowl, did you do that all with your camera, or use your video editor to zoom in?

    • @DanielVilarino
      @DanielVilarino  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Rick! Thank you so much, my dear friend, for your kind comments! Actually, most of the time they are a combination of camera zooming and zooming with the editor. If I use only the camera, sometimes the recording ends up blurry, and if I use only the editor, it looks pixelated (is that really a word? ha, ha, ha, I hope you understand what I mean). The combination allows me to get the best results. Cheers! Daniel

  • @raybrown8545
    @raybrown8545 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    Daniel, I loved this video and the bowl. I knew the desired result before I watched the video and I spent a good amount of time trying to figure out how to accomplish it but I could not come up with any solutions.
    I understand that the top intersections could not show through without breaking through the bottom intersections because of the curvature of the outside of the bowl. I was wondering if you could sneak up on making the top ring on the inside of the bowl slightly deeper would cause the upper most intersection show through.
    Thank you for the great and inspired work.

    • @DanielVilarino
      @DanielVilarino  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Ray! Thank you very much, dear friend, for your comments and for watching the video. Yes, the solution you mentioned could have solved the problem. The issue was that I had already turned the project around and many times, when you do turn around once more, the thing ends up woobling a bit. So I decided to leave it at that. Cheers! Daniel

    • @raybrown8545
      @raybrown8545 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you Daniel. I understand why it could not be performed on your bowl because I watched you remove the tendon in the video. As you explained, that bowl was an experiment and a truly innovative way of performing the multiple axis turning.
      The reason that I asked is, having seen your video I am wanting to try it myself and wanted your input on making an adjustment to the bowl to fix the problem.
      Again, Thank you very much for your reply.

    • @DanielVilarino
      @DanielVilarino  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, if you are going to try in a new bowl, by all means, that should work. The best is always to get a very spherical surface. I am trying to think of something that might work a little better. Cheers! Daniel

    Very interesting! Could you hide the fact that the outer grooves are not equal depths by re-chucking the bowl from the bottom and making the upper inner rings slightly deeper to complete the hole patterns? Thanks for sharing!

    • @SkunkTreeCarvings
      @SkunkTreeCarvings 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @DanielVilarino  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Don Fillenworth Hi Don! Thank you for your comments and for the suggestion! Yes, Skunk TreeCarvings made a similar suggestion, I could sneak up in the upper part of the external groove, from the inside groove to try to get the intersection. It makes sense. Although this one did not end up as I expected, at the end I liked the pattern it developed. But I will definitely consider what you said in the next try I make (which probably it will take me several until I finally get it right :) ) Cheers! Daniel

      Your welcome... I like seeing " Craftsmanship " curious if the axis of the other edge was at 90 degrees to center line of sphere would that make the cutting of the eccentrics easier ?

    • @DanielVilarino
      @DanielVilarino  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Garry! In this particular case, I tried to make the shape of the bowl as spherical as possible. If I achieved that then, no matter what axis you use, the cut should be the same, since a sphere is identical in all sides and axis. Still, I think I did not achieve a perfectly spherical piece and so the difficulty. Also, I think that if I had used a cup center to position the piece in the jam chuck it would have made a more centered cut. All ideas for the next :) Cheers! Daniel

    • @garrybrpwine3073
      @garrybrpwine3073 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just a off the wall idea.. I see the bowl turners using a Laser Light for wall thickness... could this be used in your turning ? Have a line on the jam chuck for horizontal reference then with the laser light a vertical reference for placing the bowl. Would this help in orienting the circle to be cut.. on or above or below the center line on the jam chuck

    • @DanielVilarino
      @DanielVilarino  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Garry! I guess something like that could work well. I just got a hollowing system that it is laser guided. One could do a sort of template where the laser could move and use the light reference to turn up to that position. Cheers! Daniel

    This is show us just your skill and is not something new.

    • @DanielVilarino
      @DanielVilarino  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Michael! I do not understand really your comment. In none of my videos I just intent to show skill, I always do voice overs explaining what I do to guide the viewer in the process. This is part 2 of two videos, and in the first one I explained that it was inspired in the work of Hans Weißflog. (or Weissflog). So I never pretended that it was something new, although I never seen this particular shape done before in TH-cam. All my channel is dedicated to help woodturners to do projects and the idea is always revolving in teaching and learning. If I just wanted to do a show of skill, I could do much shorter videos, like many you see in other channels. I sacrifice the shortness of the video at the risk of losing the attention of the viewer because I am pointing to people interested in learning, not just being entertained. So, if that is the direction of your comment, I am really sorry you feel it that way, there is nothing more apart from my intention with the videos. Daniel
