You love your hobby. You are excellent at what you do. You try to mive on beyond the usual designs, bringing in new ideas and I admire you for that. Well done Jim.
Thanks Jim. Very interesting technique and the bowl is very pretty. If you can, take some pictures or videos at the symposium. Would make a good topic for those of us in the US. :-)
I am very impressed with the way that turned out. I am a die-hard out & out wood only with an oil and wax finish & definitely no colour or embellishment of any kind wood turner. You have all about converted me to have a go at the things a you produce in your videos. Thanks for posting them You Tube
Thank you Rog. Although most of my videos show embellishments, my favourite things to turn are natural edge bowls in plain wood and oil. I try and show stuff which is a bit different in my TH-cam videos. It is always good to try different things though. I will be doing some more traditional projects soon hopefully. All the best, Jim.
Another great video & the finished result is marvellous & I agree, definitely a piece you would see in a Sultans palace (& possibly full of turkish delight) 👍🏻
Watching your videos is absolutely inspiring. Now I want to find a community shop where I could learn how to turn. Thanks for creating amazing content.
Powdered metals are weird when you mix them with resin. (what type of resin/metal use matters too, as some can tarnish instantly). It's a great way to get a solid metal look when the work using metal is impossible/very difficult.
You do the most interesting and innovative things with your art! I love this bowl! Just beautiful! You have really been a trend-setter in the you-tube woodturning community. Thank you for sharing your talent!
Thanks for taking the time to watch and comment. It came out better than I expected and the burnishing cream worked well on the acrylic, loads of possibilities with this technique. Cheers, Jim
Thank you so much Jim for another great project. I have to tell you that when I see you've uploaded a new video I keep it as a treat to watch later on. This video is no exception. You've given me so many great ideas to work on. Recent events in my life have conspired to keep me out of my workshop but I'm confident I will be back at my beloved lathe this week. Please keep the videos and your ideas coming. Best wishes, Alan.
I really appreciate your very kind words Alan. I'm glad you like what I do, I have got more videos planned. Although my next video will be a review of my dust extraction system, so not quite so creative. Hopefully I will see you at UKIWS. Cheers, Jim
top notch job as always sorry to hear you are going Saturday as I was hoping to see you in Coventry as I'm going Sunday maybe next time all the best looking forward to next video
Thanks Barry. I am staying up in Coventry on Saturday night so I may possibly stay for Sunday, I will have to play it by ear, I could get in trouble with my wife. Cheers, Jim
Beautiful piece! When I first saw it I wondered how you formed a bronze foil or sheet into the bowl. The powdered bronze works great! I like your combination of various materials to create a one of a kind beauty!
Lovely video with a great piece of turning well done. I did see your bowl at the UKIWs stand it was very much talked about. Thanks for sharing and I look forward to seeing similar ideas from you. Safe and happy shavings David.
Dude! It looks like piece of bronze sheet. It is quite perfect. If you do this again try to prime the holes with a little clear resin in a syringe. So it will have something to help the rod and bronze resin to slide across.
I have no idea why your sub count is so low when you are a far better craftsman than many supposed woodturners who just do half-arsed, 'funky' stuff yet seem to have more than they deserve. Subbed today and I look forward to seeing more videos. Thanks, Jim!!
Thank you very much Helen, I appreciate your very kind words and many thanks for subscribing. Hopefully my subscribers will increase in time. Cheers Jim
