NEW Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce Review: The most FUN small EV?

- The Alfa Romeo Junior is a small crossover that shares its underpinnings with other Stellantis models, including the Jeep Avenger and Vauxhall Mokka. In Veloce trim it's also a proper electric hot hatch, with 278bhp from its electric motor, a mechanical limited-slip differential and overhauled suspension. The Junior Veloce can get from 0-62mph in 5.9 seconds, and has a claimed 215-mile range from its 54kWh battery. Prices for this flagship model start from £42,295.
In this CarGurus UK review, Vicky Parrott tests the Junior Veloce EV on the twists and turns of Alfa's historic Balocco test track, and comes away very impressed indeed.

This is not a real Alfa, it is a sporty-dressed Peugeot 2008. Alfa Romeo died with Marchionne; Stellantis will rebadge Peugeots' cars with the Alfa logo. Poor Alfa
As the electric is so expensive for the man in the street, when will the hybrid be launched in the UK? I understand it will be 10,000 pounds cheaper.

Had the opportunity to see it and sit in it at the Birmingham roadshow. Really impressed with the styling and the fit and finish on the demonstrator. A few more miles on the range would have been useful.
Looks really good, the interior looks 👌. All the reviews I have watched so far seem to really compliment its handling and dynamic driving, sadly just shy of the range I like to have.
The V6 with this body design would've been a banger.
nice review that makes some optimistic suggestions for the future of the brand even with platform sharin g- would have been great to get a better taste of the range - is there still some of this dynamic in the more bread and butter models.
Alfas have always aimed to inspire emotions by their design. In general, they do that with coherent curvy lines. Unfortunately, this car lacks coherence especially in the front. I agree with the presenter. It is fussy and the rear is also a bit non-Italian. I think they could have done better with a simpler design.

The base version, the one in the video, has about 280 hp.
I would go for the petrol variant still. Wish they'd do a veloce model for that, even with a 1.5litre engine. I'm a lizard person, I prefer a warmer climate and engine sounds.
Alfa Romeo stylists have obviously and unfortunately spent too much time gazing at French and Korean body styling design. A real shame! I dare say it drives like an Alfa. Every Alfa should have a sole and bite hard into your sole but this 'AR Junior' (awful name), not quite sure?? It has managed to do one Alfa trick and that is to make you happy and smile. Will there be a QF version I wonder?! Price point too much also...

Alfa romeo excuse presence and a classic temperament
Like the looks (except the rear - looks like an EV6), interior and red colour but the rest is underwhelming and obviously shared with the many other small Stellantis crossovers. Veloce is very expensive but looks fun, the basic one just another 54kWhr clone like the 2008, Avenger, Mokka etc.
Lease rates will be critical - if it’s cheap might consider one as our company car, but I get a feeling they won’t be.

This top of the range model seems to have the handling capabilities that the alfisti are looking for, well done Stellantis ! However I do agree that the front is too fussy. I think there is a model in the range that has a much simpler scudetto that would improve the car’s appearance, the large Alfa logo is overdone. I think the presenter means to say mechanical limited slip differential, aren’t all differentials mechanical anyway ? It’s the cheaper form of electronic limited slip diff that my Guilietta has that the Veloce has avoided.

The UK is still allowing Chinese cars in without tariff so don't expect many of these but loads of MGs. We are be oning a dumping ground for Chinese EVs bought by the same people who voted Brexit and wept at sovereignty. European car brands need protecting from brands using cheaper labour with poorer protections, cheaper materials, stolen tech and dubious owners (MG is owned by the CCP - see HK, Taiwan, slave labour, spying etc).

Stellantis want to get lost back to France, leave Alfa alone, a lovely two litre turbo in that would be a million per cent better than a milk float.
Why not a v8 while we’re at it, companies have to lower their emissions because of European laws so they most likely didn’t have a choice
What part of all new cars by 2035 will be EV are you not getting? Maybe 2030 now. Embrace the milk float. Personally I prefer EVs, I know they have pros and cons. Im not a fan of suvs.
t doesnt look like an Alfa The price is astronomical . 215 miles is not far enough . Its sacriledge that an iconic car like Alfa has been destroyed by the woke agenda I had a proper Alfa in the 80s . It had soul. It sounded wonderful ,Handled like a limpet and looked beautiful .
Ughh Alfa has lost itself making all these rebranded blobby compact SUV’s. I really hope they redeem themselves by making the Giulia EV exceptional, and not just another renault/jeep/chrysler/etc re-skin

EV’s are not wanted by the public yet they keep getting pushed and I suppose the best way is for the manufacturers to get them more agreeable is to get the motoring magazines to do it for them. Although we the public won’t entertain them. An electric Alfa Romeo is not an Alfa it’s just a Chinese electric motor with other industry parts. Cars engines is what keeps them unique to that brand take that away and the individuality is gone.
