That was one of the parts that was cut out, alomg with The Kid, parts of Trashcan Man's journey, and some of the interactions between Fran, Harold, and Stu. Part if the Judge's journey, final scene was.extended, Kojacks journey to Boulder, and several pages centering around Mother Abigail also got the axe.

      Jimmy De'Souza that’s a pretty unfair assessment, but I do agree that the final battle was a bit anticlimactic. That’s never been Kings strongpoint. It’s the way he joined, directly and indirectly, 30-40 years worth of seemingly unconnected novels and the blend of genres. Or, as he told the Constant Readers bear the end, it isn’t about the destination, it’s about the journey.

    • @kylesexton6067
      @kylesexton6067 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Jimmy De'Souza firstly, I’ve read the entire series multiple times, and while there IS a line in there to that effect, it’s not literally Santa Claus, nor does the Crimson King look exactly like him. However, there is some symbology there concerning Christmas as a time of family. Honestly didn’t catch that until like my 3rd time through it. It’s also evident in the ending for Roland’s “team”, if you will, where they wind up in Central Park on Christmas Day with Santa hats on.

    The Stand is still my favourite Stephen King novel. I think the portrayal of Flagg in the 80s version I'm sorry but that's the Flagg that stands in my mind. Even with the cheezy CGI, he had this likability which for playing essentially the Devil, you would expect that. I think the Dark Tower's Walter definitely showed Flagg's evil more, but didnt really show him to be likable. You knew he was evil through and through. In the Stand, Flagg was more just... oh hey nice charismatic guy next door, wanna get out of jail? Sure just take my hand and seal this pact and you're free. And I really loved Flagg's relationship with Trashcan Man. It was like "hey, I feel sorry for the guy who's going batspit insane, I know you love me, thanks man" I actually felt like Flagg was human then.

Two notable characters who weren’t in the film were Carla Goldsmith ( Fran’s mother who disowned her for being pregnant out of wedlock) and Rita Blakemoor ( who Larry met in New York).
