This makes me depressed because I believe in passion projects, but after watching this I realized passion projects are not seen as worth anything. I draw what really like, but not a lot of people like what I like. Oh well.
Well independent animation is definitely an option for passion projects and they are on the rise recently but of course it'll come with it's own set of challenges. Whatever the case might be just know that passion isn't useless, it's your drawing force and always treasure it
@@KamisamaSenpaiM4GIC I agree with this! I like animating and drawing my own stuff at my own pace and time. I don't think working for what you like is useless at all
As an artist myself too, I dream of making the animation myself like independently. No pressure and it comes exactly as how I envision it. Just me sharing my dream out in the world. 😌
As a Webtoon artist myself I've been able to confirm a lot of what you've said in terms of pacing. About 2 Webtoon episodes = 1 Manga Episode = 1/2 an Anime episode, so you could write your story and chapters accordingly. Simply put, I call it "The 1/4th Rule" where you can write each Webtoon episode in "beats" which each leave on somewhat of a cliffhanger (it can be a small thing) to keep readers scrolling to find out what happens in the next episode, and then have the overall scenario "resolve" on the 4th episode.
i would LOVE to get a anime but it's just not realistic so i decided to just make a manga as incredible as possible and i plan to dub it here on youtube with music and voice acting.
There are these videos of guys taking pages from manga, and adding A.I. voice, along with sound effects and soundtrack... I wonder if this is the evolution of manga... I'm not talking about edits "animating" these mangas...
Lotion! I am so grateful for this video. I will admit I am envious of where you are but I so appreciate you emphasizing all the work behind your achievement. I lived in a time anime wasn't popular and art was heavily discouraged, especially anime or cartoon related, so I went to pursue a career in engineering. Now in my mid 30s, I am finally getting back to art and creating my first original story through animatics. It's hard for me but I love it. And this little spark of having one day a story in an anime format feels strangely possible. Thanks again!
Lotion! I’ve been looking for info on how to progress manga/WEBTOON to anime content ever since I started drawing manga like stories…..your insightful take on this has edified me in ways I cannot describe. I’m glad to have found a gem in your post. And I love your God-Game art style….thanks!
I've been doing my webcomic for over 20 years, and have had no luck getting either a live action or animated version of my work accepted by and production company. Even as far as being in talks with folks who decided that "paranormal slice of life" was not the route they wanted to take their productions, then they went on to make just those kinds of stories. I finally (thanks to covid) decided to take a break from the daily comic to animating a few short stories by myself. I don't know that I could trust any company as they're only about money, and buying an intellectual property just to bury it so it could never be made is well within normal business practices.
Lotion - Fantastic video! Your content is truly invaluable, providing insights that are hard to find elsewhere. For aspiring anime creators, videos like yours are a goldmine of information. I’m eagerly anticipating your future uploads!
I'm at the infant stages of working on an IP as well. You inspire me Brandon, Ill keep working at my project until it becomes an anime or game. My light novel is now out but that is only the beginning! It's called Tales of the Twin Blades
ive written a book drawn the first volume , hired voice actors and do audio engineering, and have toyed with animation but it is such a daunting process trying to do it all yourself
Lotion! Thank you very much for this useful video ❤ I've always dreamed of sharing my stories as anime, this year, I started publishing my first Webtoon, and although it has a very small audience, and it has a very simple art, I hope someday I can get as far as you've done. ❤
Really interesting and informative. Hadn’t followed up with the latest anime trends for a while so I only now see all these different anime adaptations. Really thought Suicide Squad and LoR anime was some AI generated prank. Hope that everything will go smoothly for your project!
Lotion. I personally don’t know much about how animation works as I am just a humble artist. But I was thinking that if you have your own IP that you drew it’s possible to animate it yourself using Procreate dreams or Toon Squid. I have seen some people make shorts that way and amine style trailers for their IP. If someone does work with a studio to produce their anime independently and they are the artist. I think giving them access to deleted scenes that you did not use in the final production of the WEBTOON can help. WEBTOON creators tend to have a lot of discarded episodes some that never make it to publishing because it makes the story too slow. Readers always complain that episodes are too long and that they don’t really want to read that many panels. At lest on the Canvas side of WEBTOON. 😂
Lotion. I might get some flak for this, but I'm wondering that with the rise of indie animation a la Amazing Digital Circus and AI assist(Emphasis on ASSIST and not GENERATED), would it be possible for smaller, indie group to be able to make a good looking anime even with limited budget and that might be actually the better way to get a story with unique ideas out. Because I think we already know the story, big companies don't deal in "risky" ideas, they only deal in the same old recycled trends and big name IPs, which is why you see the oversaturation of isekai animes even though most of them flop. And that's not even to mention cases like MAPPA where in order to make smash hits like Chainsaw Man or Jujutsu Kaisen, they had to put animators through hell while not coming anywhere close to paying them fairly.
We need more western studios, mainly because I want to see all my favorite fantasy series' adapted, and get some good non-isekai fantasy shows. I had hoped some kind of western anime boom would've happened by now. The upcoming LOTR anime movie is a dream come true, hopefully it will cause a movement of western fantasy adaptations.
i started working for more than 3 years on a story that can be a novel or anything because of its flexibility because i am not an artist and i don't like to draw honestly i just like to write and imagine, do you have any advice to find a good artist to colab with and how to protect the idea from being stolen while showing it to others for a colab or invest ?
LOTION. Uhhh yhh.. something i really wish to build is that experience in things. Honestly, it's the reason why i feel u got to this point. Sure, with a stroke of luck. That's why i have the my favourite originals stocked up for last. It has its risks, but I'd kinda prefer that to my immature hands handling my bests. So Flr now, am doing stories i love, but nof as much as my earlier ones. Who knows, there may be huge changes. Thanks a lot brandon. As always. Ur content has been insightful
I’m happy you got your dream before 30. But, hose of us older than 30 who are still working on that dream may feel like it’s not worth it. It’s like your saying getting an anime is only for young people with youthful ideas. I believe that’s not true. I am very proud of you working since childhood takes discipline. But, those getting into their dreams later who don’t have the same amount of free time as a child or teenager has still need encouragement. You are right if you want an anime you have to make a story that can be animated easily so making likeable characters or characters that have presence matter. Gotta think in terms of what the Japanese would want to see and read. You can’t just have a western mind feeling it has to appease more than the west, but Saying it has to be shonen feeling is bullshit. Especially for adults we’re no longer children and teens and neither is most the audience so saying it has to appeal to younger people is bullshit. Adults watch and read manga and anime as well and there is an untapped market for it Kaiju No.8 is reflective of that. 30 y.o don’t wanna see teen protagonists.
This is a great vid! I sound a little selfish asking this, but do you think you cand do a vid on how lightnovel get adapted to manga and then to anime? I already have a few works written in light novel style format, but I don't know how to get it adapted into a manga, or something manga style.
But what if you just wanna make anime? Would you suggest people to go the indie animation route? And if so do you think they would financially benefit from the indie route than the major studios route?
why are a lot of the backgrounds in your goblin webtoon so pixelized? ive been wondering about this for so long that how do experienced people/studios not use any anti aliasing, like how is the 3d background game so bad. time is the obvious answer but it takes all of 2 seconds to slap on some post processing even on the most half baked scene. "lotion" for if ur filtering with that even though i didnt watch lol
