The problem is that there are few good reputable platforms to upload manga online. Most of them use the usual views push algorithms and the botted counts to get more engagements… e.g MangaPlusCreators.
Yes, an NFL Quarterback makes more money at their peak than a world class Rugby player. The amount of manga, especially Shonen Jump manga, that become successful is so insignificant when compared to what’s allowed to be successful in Webtoon. The amount of content on webtoon that’s successful is significantly more than the amount of works in manga that are successful and globally recognized. I’ve been researching this for some time because on the side I’m trying to start a Shonen jump/manga e-magazine, finding this balance is difficult
Me personally Im going to do manga, I really do want to be in the magazines. (Such as Shonen jump or maybe try seinen) Though it is a good idea to start somewhere so posting online, like on Webtoon. So you can build up an audience and practice story telling, paneling, dynamics, ect!
@@sweetnsour3693 you need to enter online competition that held in japan There are many competition you can search most populaar one is silent manga competition And you should post in manga plus creator if your series have potential various publishers will approach you
Yeah this is what I am thinking webtoon or tapas gives us platform but I love manga style pages also I think many of the big webtoon artists are pretty good their work is awesome they don't leave too much space like some artists do and it's annoying. But I hope we get a platform for more like manga style or comic style OR give artists freedom to do whatever they want and experiment with their art style and paneling
@siddhisalvi1628 there is Jump + / mangapluscreators These kinda of webmanga give alot of freedom for doing color/black & white, paneling Japan recently also got their own 'webtoon' aka JunpToon
If it ever gets rough for me to write or create I remind myself that FairyTales and Myth is full of unexplained nonsense. Somethings don't have to have a connection or deeper meaning. Sometimes a turtle monster likes cucumbers, the forest horse people don't mess with travelers with inside-out shirts, and the all powerful Sun God has immortal cow friends.
Definitely. This is something that stayed with me when I read the Shonen Jump book, especially the part about the creator of Kimetsu no Yaiba. You don't have to create something difficult, things don't have to be complicated and I love it.
This industry is very fasonateing especially with all the diffrent creatores and demographics. Also Brandon here is one of the beast weebtoon writers him and his team. Glad to hear you have a dream in mind.
Just released my first seinen manga online. And yeah, it is true, there are less seinen webtoon as opposed to manga. But then again, the seinen audience are often silent compared to the younger audience
Tbh i hope we all get a platform that will allow us to experiment with storytelling, paneling, art style instead of sticking to one thing and that platform encourage great story not how yessified story is. I am personally manifesting this
This is a great informative video! I too thought having 3D implemented into the projects was sort of cheating but I glad to hear you say it’s not that it it’s actually smart and helpful!🙏🏽
I studied dentistry and now a dentist, but not enjoying the career. I always wanted to become a writer and make my story animated or into a manga/webtoon. Im currently writing the story, but I cant draw well. Thanks for the video, i'm aspiring to be where you are. Nice video 😊
Watching your videos makes me still want to make a comic myself, although I’m going to have my internship in IT companies and I wish I had more free time
I actually disagree with the action style on webtoon point. One of the most popular series is The Boxer which has a very unique art style and is definitely aimed at men. The story is also very deep and it is selling physical copies now. Although it is rare to see something like that get popular on webtoon I think it’s because it’s rare to get something as unique as it made since a lot of the stories that are being made are just copy and pastes of each other in an attempt to get popular. I do understand your point though because there definitely is more manga like this than webtoons but I wish people would post more unique stuff like The Boxer since webtoon is free and allows everyone to view your story. So in conclusion I believe it is a content issue and not a reader issue. Great video though this isn’t criticism just another opinion.
I’d agree, though I think if someone else tried to replicate the boxer’s success they would probably fail. I can’t point out many series that are in the action space that are like the Boxer and that’s why I’d call that almost an outlier - compared to the meta (power fantasy series with the studio Redice art style) It’s good to take risks like the Boxer. That’s what I am always trying. But it’s also important to note that risks also mean most of them fail.
Yeah i think i wanna do more Josei - I want adultish story. I am making a WLW story and just feel like the limitation with webtoons censorship idk if my story would do well there. I don't mind doing it as webtoon but I do prefer the manga still better.
Hey quick question so I am practicing to be a manga artist and want to know how do manga creators make enough money to get by? Do I get a part time job on the side??
Most writers in general don’t start off investing their entire career in writing. They may need a side job to stay afloat, because there’s no guarantee their book will be successful or well known (to pay their bills lol) Rather than rely on manga as your main job, think of it as a hobby/passion first. Who knows? Maybe you’ll become as popular as Koyoharu Goutoge’s Demon Slayer series :)
I dont if this has been talked about before. but how do you manage the budget for the project? like did you fully fund it (to pay the artists etc) until contracted on webtoon or what?
seinen in webtoon has been pretty solid depending on how it was drawn and its story. For example Bones is an ultra edgy dark webtoon with very impactful visuals and gory details. So is Existence (despite my hate on that story, but art is beautiful.). I can imagine how Berserk would look very amazin in Webtoon format, like maybe if it was drawn by the artist of Latna Saga. But yeah, Seinen in webtoon are awesome and has been coming out more lately.
In my opinion, what if i make a webcomic that has a manga structure? The way it flows just like a manga but you read in a Web source instead of a book. I am trying to create one at that style.
As a woman who is interested in creating a Beserk level philosophically deep female lead manga or comic, what are my options? It seems like Seinen is supposed to be for men but what do I do if I want the Seinen vibe but for women? Would that completely fail?
neither, start with a game if you have some experience with an engine. you will do a heckuva lot less drawing depending on the kind of game you wanna make. also if you are gonna draw a whole story why not post it both on the manga space AND on webtoons? the more exposure the better.

How does a western artist get into THE Manga industry? It looks like it all runs through Japan and all the connects and opportunities are only there. Also, why aren't we seeing US manga-esque publishers popping up, surely there's a lot more demand these days?
I would recommend before you think abt publishing or marketing & all that stuff, for now hone your skills with drawing/writing before u think of creating a whole comic/manga.
Tbf I’ve seen many crap popular stories with manga as well but I think there’s less of it in manga bc with webtoon it rly tries pushing out generic stories for money.
Can you suggest me about something actually I wrote lot of chapter of my own Webnovel and I am also quite good at art but I am struggling to choose between writing and doing art work
Hes right about the manga being for boys. It really do feel like the webtoon space is more feminine , woman ,Lgbt centered. At least in America . Everytime im on webtoon i feel like I would have to create something for that audience . And that's not my thing.
But I think there are numerous stories on webtoon that focus on male audience esp with those op mcs isekais but that can feel generic/repetitive whereas manga gets more unique

You should do manga, cuz it's more distinguished and a successful manga is more successful than a successful webtoon (love the vids btw)

Panel orientation for Webtoon is not the same as print. Webtoon is scrolling vertical, while as print is horizontal.
