2019 Harvest Day: Deer Run Dairy

On October 4, 2019, we checked in at Deer Run Dairy LLC to see how harvest was going and found that their no-till fields were very impressive! Deer Run planted their corn into knee-high rye and as you can see from this video, the earthworms had a busy summer because there is little evidence of the rye residue. Despite all the rain, the soil structure built by using cover crops and no-till, allowed them to get into the fields earlier in the spring to plant and earlier in the fall to harvest.
