Watching this from Bhutan. Phagri ! A place so far, yet so near. A place we heard so much from our elders. Stories, tales and folklores. I have never seen any pictures or videos of Phagri until today. Thank you for making me feel nostalgic to a place I have never been to. Also brings back memories of some of the places in Bhutan longtime ago. Phagri, Lhasa and Dorji Dhen ( Bodh Gaya ) were the places our grand parents used to proudly discuss about as if they where London, Paris and Tokyo of their times. Phagri doesn't seem like bustling and crazy city but rather quiet and serene just somewhat like Thimphu during my childhood days.
I am from Uttarakhand state of India and from past 3 days i have been continuously watching your videos. I can relate to so many things since i am from a community who used to live in a valley near Indian-Tibet border known as "Johar / johar valley". My grandfather and many other people from our community used to trade with Tibet. No money involved only the barter system. After the border, the trade route to Tibet closed many people for jobs and eduaction migrated towards cities. But all of us our still very much attached to our routes and yearly celebrate our culture. In winters we love and enjoy the butter tea which we call "jaa/jya" and use Ghee instead of butter. The wooden utensil that we make it in is called dumga/dumka in our language and The solidified cheese is called "chipi". People of our "Shauka" community still go to heights in search of Caterpillar Fungus and we call it "yarsagambu" or keeda jadi which literally means insect root. It is really a very expesive medicine. Its even illegal to trade or sell here in India. But people still do it. Since we had a history of great ties with tibetan and nepalese people we share a lot of common things like food, utensils, clothing, carpet making and the designs and few vocabulary. We come under Bhotia tribe and i believe we are related to tibets, like years ago we were or our ancestors must have been from there. I have never been to Tibet but When I watch your videos I feel at home. I wish to visit Tibet one day and travel the Mansarovar Yatra (Mount Kailash)🙏🌸 Lots of love from India💝

Hello from Bhutan 🇧🇹! I just watched your video about the popular trading destination of Phagri, and I must say it was incredibly informative and fascinating. Thank you for sharing your travels with us! It's amazing to see how our past ancestors engaged in vibrant trading in Phagri, and I feel a sense of connection and pride in our shared history. The world is full of diverse cultures and rich heritage, and it's heartwarming to witness how technology allows us to explore and appreciate these ancient routes from afar. I truly wish that we could have the opportunity to interact and travel in this reality. Sending warm wishes from Bhutan for more exciting travels and discoveries in the future!
I truly enjoyed my visit to Tibet earlier this year but would loved to have traveled with you guys to these unseen areas. Thank you so much for your videos.

Can your visits get any more exotic than this?? Feeding those amazing monkeys, exploring the once beautiful old house, caterpillar fungus (oh my!) & talking with Tibetan monks about their study, WOW!
Honestly I did not find it a good idea to feed the monkeys. First they will reproduce unlimited and second will become agressive beggars. From a certain point on unfortunately the local authorities will have to control the population by poisoning or hunting. Do not interfere with nature is the best solution.
Kuzuzangpo la from Bhutan!😊 I watch your vlog all the time and enjoy your travels. Your visit to Pagri was truly interesting and informative. In the olden days, Pagri was a thriving trading town and many Bhutanese used to travel there to trade including my late father-in-law.
As always, a video that well surpasses national geographic channel. After subscribing to your channel I have learn so much about so many things about China.
Whith what the National Geographic channel has turned into, that's not that difficult. It's the reason why I gave up on cable TV more than 10 years ago and I can assure you have never looked back. They only transmit programs for the mentally impaired these days (all channels).
Lots of love from nepal. We people from mountains are same despite of different countries. We follow same lifestyle , same traditions and the most important is our place is more or less heaven

It always amazed me that no matter where I was in China, in the countryside or on a mountain, I always had perfect 4G. Even in a small country like the Netherlands there are patches when taking the train where there is basically no mobile internet.
I am from Sikkim, India.. There were so many cultural similarities between Yadong and Sikkim as shown in the video.. i was hoping you would show the mountains of sikkim from the border.
Watching this from Sikkim, India, I had the opportunity to work in an area that shared a border with China. Every time my work took me to the line separating these two great nations, I never saw any traces of habitation on the other side, and I often wondered about the people and their lifestyles there. Your videos have answered all my unanswered questions. In the end, I must say that life on the other side isn't very different from ours-their food, houses, and emotions are strikingly similar to what we have here. Thank you.

Do you think the money comes to us Han people out of thin air? Moreover, in the next 12 years, China will continue to invest in Tibet by constructing a 300 billion railway project. The national power grid will invest 46.6 billion, Lhasa city's key projects will have an investment of 161.9 billion, and the planned investment for the Yarlung Tsangpo River super hydropower station is expected to exceed 1 trillion.

Only the Buddha himself understands and has the capability to spread his teaching. Yes, we will have to wait for the next Buddha to appear for us to truly learn his teaching. What is left of Buddhism are merely fragments and incomplete. But it does give us a little peek.

The old house definitely resembles to a bhutanese farm house and the one piece wooden ladder is still being used in most parts of Bhutan. Pagri / Phari (Phari tern is popular to Bhutanese not Pagri) was one of the popular trading hub between Bhutan and Tibet during my grand parents time. The caterpillar Fungus known as Cordyceps is also found in the northern part of Bhutan. If you travel to Tingri closer to Nepal then you will find similar such farm houses.

We also have a village called Phari in Paro near the Tibet . Few Bhutanese traders still smuggle things into Bhutan from Phari Tibet . The house structure shown in Yadong represents similar designs to those in Bhutan . We usually have 3 floors traditionally. Ground floor for domesticated animals, second floor for grain storage and third as the main residence. to be frank, Yadong are shown by lots of videos, but most of them are in Chinese becasue vloggers are Chinese, and Chinese related information are limited in most west media platform if they show some harmony aspect of China
Bhutanese architecture is distinct and characterized by the use of traditional materials, intricate woodwork, and decorative elements. Bhutanese houses typically feature steep gable roofs with wooden shingles and are known for their colourful paintings and carvings. In China, architectural styles vary across different regions and are influenced by geography, climate, local culture, and historical periods. While there may be some architectural similarities in houses near the China-Bhutan border due to shared influences, it is inaccurate to say that everything looks the same in Bhutanese and Chinese border houses. Bhutan and China's cultural identities and architectural traditions contribute to unique characteristics in their respective architectural styles.

We call such old houses as Bhutia Houses. It is common to find such houses in Sikkim and here in Kalimpong (near by sikkim , india) as well For your information, let us tell you that people of Tibetan, Bhutanese and Sikkimese origin are called Bhutias in India.
Because in ancient times, Sikkim, Bhutan, Ladakh, and southern Tibet were all part of Tibet, China. The flag of Bhutan is similar to the flag of the Qing Dynasty of China. The Yellow Dragon Flag is the totem of the Chinese nation, the flag of China's Qing Dynasty is a five-clawed dragon, and the flag of Bhutan is a three-clawed dragon. There is a saying in ancient China: "The emperor has five claws, the princes have four claws, and the ministers have three claws." It is said that there are two versions of the name "Bhutan". The first version was heard by the British from Indians, and the British transliterated it as Bhutan, which means a corner of Tibet; another version is that Bhutan is a country established by Tibetans. Pinyin: Zuggyü, Chinese translation is 竺巴, which means descendant of dragon or thunder dragon. There are 7 branches of Tibetans, and Butiya is only one branch of Tibetans, and the language they use is also a dialect of Tibetan (it is said that there is no need for an interpreter when talking to Tibetan tourists when traveling in Tibet, China). The current Tibetan population in China exceeds 7 million. Welcome everyone to travel and make friends in China.

Beautiful China forever
Can your visits get any more exotic than this?? Feeding those amazing monkeys, exploring the once beautiful old house, caterpillar fungus (oh my!) & talking with Tibetan monks about their study, WOW!
Honestly I did not find it a good idea to feed the monkeys. First they will reproduce unlimited and second will become agressive beggars. From a certain point on unfortunately the local authorities will have to control the population by poisoning or hunting. Do not interfere with nature is the best solution.
It gives me immense pleasure to see Chinese vlogger conversing in English and subtitles

@DordDord1206 Sikkim had a legitimate referendum. The act of occupying was done by CCP controlled China on Tibet, Manchuria, east Turkestan and Yunan.
Watching this from Sikkim, India, I had the opportunity to work in an area that shared a border with China. Every time my work took me to the line separating these two great nations, I never saw any traces of habitation on the other side, and I often wondered about the people and their lifestyles there.

It is common to find such houses in Sikkim and here in Kalimpong (near by sikkim , india) as well
For your information, let us tell you that people of Tibetan, Bhutanese and Sikkimese origin are called Bhutias in India.
Yes they are called bhutias or bhotays...it is from that term that the name bhutan came from
Because in ancient times, Sikkim, Bhutan, Ladakh, and southern Tibet were all part of Tibet, China.
