Pontiac Grand Am. This can am is a 1977 Grand Am version of a TransAm . Very cool cars. Have a great story about a 1976 Grand Am, 2 door, abandoned in my parking lot for 2 months, back in the 80s, she disappeared???? Back when a locksmith would come out and make a new key for $30.
I had two CanAms! One had a Pontiac 400 and the other one didn't have an engine or transmission when i bought it so I put in a small block Chevy 350 4bbl, 4 bolt main with a General Kinetics cam with .454" lift / 270 duration and a T-350 with a B&M transpak, Hedman Headers, cherry bombs and 3 73 gears. It was a badass car and I had a lot of fun in it back in the late 80's!
Should’ve included the 73-74 Pontiac Firebird with the Super Duty 455. These are extremely rare especially the Super Duty Formula Firebirds. Pontiac built one of their fastest cars to kick off the malaise era. One of the very few times Pontiac was able to sneak one passed GM that beat the Corvette. Also didn’t mention the 89 Turbo Trans Am. It shared basically the same engine as the GNX but with better flowing heads in a lighter and better handling car.
Cosworth Vega actually ran at 120HP on Leaded Av-Gas (10 octane, green stuff), and was a 'sorted'(by '70's standards) ride that featured KYB shocks, and decent BFG Radial tires. My saab model 99, of that era, could still out-handle it, but, not, straight-line out-run it. Considering it's Parents, it was a 'Fast-assed Kid'.
In all honesty dude, if you're gonna make a car video it's gonna attract car people and every single one of these cars are not unknown. You're number 1 was a Grand National. Who tf hasn't heard of this car? Do better
There was a 'Wagon' version of that Rallye 350, in the VISTA CRUISER Line. You could Opt that Motor, in a , Family Tow Package, and, It came with Stiffer Rear Springs! Hello! What My Mama drove (b-4 going to Saab model 99's for a decade).
@@mikee2923Back in the day in NW ohio there was a good sized dealership (George ballas Buick) that knew the car scene well. I was wandering around his new car lot and to the side lot up near the building he had 10-12 brand new, just dropped off Buick GNX’s! I couldn’t believe it, the window stickers said $40,000, that was a lot of money back in those days , they were so shiny and beautiful . He prob had a nice premium price on top of the window sticker msrp I’ve seen them sell now for insane amts of money
Your 455 4 speed Grand Am wasn’t stock. In a 1st Gen Grand Am, 455 option was only available with a Turbo 400 automatic. A 400 4bbl was the top engine available with a 4 speed. All were available in 2 or 4 door.
@@tragiclife9760 Hopefully you still have it because it’s a 1 of 1. More like 1 of none. According to Rocky Rotella, noted Pontiac historian, there were a total of 0 Pontiac Grand Ams built between 1973 to 1975 equipped with a 455 and a 4 speed manual transmission. There was 1 Grand Am built in 1973 with the LS2 455, better known as the SD455. It was an automatic. There were a total of 1,041 Grand Ams built in 1975 that were equipped with the L75 (455 4bbl). All were equipped with the M40 (turbo 400) automatic transmission. 897 of them were 2 door coupes and the other 144 were 4 door sedans. The M20 4 speed manual transmission was dropped for the 1975 model year. Not the 4 door sedan. There was a total of 1893 4 door Grand Ams built in 1975. 1259 equipped with the L65 400 2bbl. 490 were built with the L78 400 4bbl. 144 were built with the L75 455 4bbl. I’ll take Rocky’s word. As far as I know, 1974 was the last year for Muncie 4 speeds at GM. After that they used the Borg Warner Super T10 4 speed manual.
@ I love statistic guys, you search he the internet and you’re an expert , I’m 71, if you really know about old GM cars then you know some weird shit got through, ever seen a 68 firebird with a 428 ?? I knew 2 guys that had them , how about a 69 Camaro with 396/375 with Air conditioning? Back then it was who you knew to get oddball combos , they called it COPO, central office production order, not all dealers had the ability to order them, but the ones that did , did
@ Chevy was about the only one who did and was able to get away with the COPO cars. Pontiac was never allowed. In fact, for 1968 when Hurst came to GM to build a car that broke the rules, the result was the Hurst Olds. A 455 in an A body. Hurst’s original intent was to build 68 Firebirds with the 390 horse 428 HO. But GM outrightly refused to allow that to happen because a 428 HO Firebird would’ve been too close in performance to the Corvette. I’m not saying it was impossible but everyone claims to have had something like that. 428 HO GTO, LS6 454 Kingswood station wagon with a 4 speed and 4.56 gears, etc. Having the dealer install a 4 speed in a 455 Grand Am is totally believable. Or swapping out a 400 4 speed equipped with a 455. But if it indeed came from the GM assembly line so equipped, hopefully you still have it along with some documentation. It would be worth a fortune.
Back in 85 i was 18 and a guy I worked with had a Can Am i don't know year seems like it had a 400, he goes and buys a nitrous kit for it, we knew less than nothing about nitrous, next week he gets to work very excited about his power increase and all the cars he had outrun, anyway i knew him for about another 2 years and ran the ever living hell out of that thing, i guess the lower compression may have helped
A buddy of mine that I hung out with in the mid to late 80’s had a Can Am. But the car having lived in a high salt use state was looking pretty sad, it had the rust bug bad, about 10” up into the fenders and doors. It was a shame cause it was a sharp looking car
GM grossly underrated the horse power figures to keep insurance companies happy.

At 1:25 Rear-Wheel-Drive and six speed manual transmission Now That's a Nice Car 😅😅

He’s talking to kids,
Weve all heard of these cars before.
second image You Show, is a FORD /MERCURY!!! Cyclone, btw! Really? You're just FOOLS, aren't You!?
I had the Taurus sho...0-60 in 5 seconds. A 95. I smoked the 09 Pontiac g8, the 2005 transam, the 98 ss comaro, the lexus gs 300. All v8s...
Its called a Pontiac Catalina with a 421 cubic inch V8 you missed it.
You Forgot, the Corsairs...
Muscle cars dont have 4 doors.
Yes they really do

The Cosworth Vega was a joke. 110 hp, ran the quarter mile in 17.8 seconds, and cost as much as a Corvette, why it failed.
Pontiac GTO! The Judge! Glenn
Nod to your number 1 pick! (I am biased, as I still own two Grand Nationals!)
You must be rich 😊
He said Grand Nationals, not GNX. Big difference. He certainly would have to be rich to own 2 GNXs considering they only made 547 of them.

Never, the most over and mis-used word in America today.
I've owned some and know of each of the Cars.
Not that rare.
Gran am not can am …
Did you watch or just listen? Ironic; all these comments about "we've heard of them," but you hadn't heard of the Can Am.
Is this channel made by a nine year old child?
