    Wow that tone is bang on. Exactly like the live show on the OGWT in 1979

    New Values is a real pop and/or melodic rock oddity in the Iggy Pop canon. Every song on it, from New Values to 5" 1', is full of great guitar riffs, great song arrangements, rich backing vocals, harmonies and even the beautiful ballad (!) Angel is an absolute masterpiece of production, with Thurston's gritty mixture of piano and slide guitar. Scott Thurston really is a talented, much underrated multi-faceted musician. New Values is awesome. When Iggy has some versatile musicians on his albums, that's when you get a Lust For Life, The Idiot and...New Values!

    The bassist on the 1979 OGWT performance, Glen Matlock, is playing a 1960 Gibson EBO.

    You know it's simple but it's kinda hard to figure out so thank you for doing this. I kept playing what i call Keith Richards chords and it was close but not quite there. You the man dawg!

  • @paulkramer9666
    @paulkramer9666 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    The other guitarist on that OGWT performance, is Jackie Clark, and he's playing a 1970s Ovation, either a Deacon or, a Breadwinner. Also through a Marshall stack.

    New Values has always been my favourite Iggy album. The guitar solo from "I'm bored" is one of those musical moments that always stops me doing what I'm doing. Great stuff, thanks for uploading this!

    What I love about this is the run though that you do at the start. Thus, making it about the song and not you. Really good stuff mate.

    Ace song! Being mega pedantic, the title of the video is a great example of why punctuation works. Witness "Im Bored by Iggy Pop", versus "I'm Bored, by Iggy Pop". I glanced at the title and read the first meaning, at first; then realised the Channel, and immediately clicked back into shape - hehe. Great video, as usual :)

    If you're taking requests, I've always wanted to learn "Sixteen" from Lust for Life. One of those I could probably figure out if I gave it enough time, but I'd never get it to sound as dirty and mean as it does on the record.

    Great lesson for an underrated track. This and your lesson on Love Comes in Spurts are among my favourites you’ve done. I thought the solo was going to be more difficult but your breakdown of it made it a lot easier. It will still take a while to play it at normal speed though! Even though I’ve been playing for 30+ years I’m still finding new things to learn to improve my playing from teachers like you. Do you have any tips on tremolo picking? I find it difficult to maintain consistent attack and speed.
    Also, who the hell gave this lesson a thumbs down?
