this track really seems like the perfect demo of the octatrack - you show all of its core features and strengths while still making a banging song that doesn't feel like its trying too hard. great stuff!
Midway through this. I love seeing you use all the gear, but there is nothing like watching you use the Octatrack. So precise, so unexpected! Great work.
Wow, outstanding masterpiece, very impressive. Start to finish, I love the the panning and use of stereo & changing instruments. Not to mention the info & breakdown with notes...keep it rolling, I subscribed immediately...thanks again!
For 30-odd years I've always used a (linear) Cubase-based DAW, right back to the Atari Pro24 days; latterly I've been trying to incorporate the Conductive Labs NDLR and Vermona MeloDICER into my setup. However, not once have I used - or been tempted to use - anything like an MPC or Octatrak. I've simply never bothered to invest the time and effort into investigating them ... or a loop-based DAWs like Ableton. However, videos like this are sorely tempting me to give 'em a go... Thank you, Jay!
Thanks for the music and Tut - always look forward to some Jay time. My OctaTrack got a new lease of life - connecting a nice reverb to the cue out, setting studio mode (I think it is called - I'm at work at the mo so can't look) and then feeding the reverb output back into a thru track - without the waffle I set up a send FX on the OT that can be applied independently to each track. It sound soooo good now - no doubt this is all very basic for you Jay, but for me it was a new source of inspiration.
Outstanding, so free flowing and "natural" even with the tech. Always nice to see a cheeky bit of 7/4 going on too. Also lovely running commentary over the top in text. Excellent stuff as always. (edit because I notice you talked about it being in 7s later on ... should've waited until the end to comment!)
that was a pretty good plug dude! i don't even make much music and i almost wanna sign up. and yea, the tune is sick, but i'm more marketeer than musician anyway :P
Excellent music. A great display of what the Octatrack can do when given a good starting point. I chose the MPC over the Octatrack but they seem to complement each other so that puts it back on the wishlist!
Top quality stuff as always. Made a weird time signature sound very natural. Still not much idea of how the Octatrack works bar having a crossfader but been seeing it in a lot of jams around the place lately
Nice work , I think you are mangling as a professional . I would like to ask you about the process on the Mpc , I am doing some th big like that , you are mangling the samples at Mpc and making a pattern, right? Later that pattern ( stem ) is exported to the octatrack to mangling one more time at exclusive octatrack style , yes ? I would like to know more about that process at each machine , I mean more deep . Thanks for this videos .
This track made me realize two things: I need to understand the Octatrack better and I need an Octatrack.
Classic rabbit hole video
goddamn you got me fuck my life i need an octatrack
hahaha
This is by far the best Octatrack + synths jam I've ever saw to this day WOW !!!
Next level
It’s ridiculous how much good music is out there that is relatively hidden. Your channel contains one such pocket of gold striking. Keep it up.

i love reading your comments on the video, it's a great window in what makes you groove. But the real treat is the music, amazing!

The Octatrack work is so good! im with you on this ahahah
Just love the captions that explain what is going on!
Let alone saying its all done without DAW, the song and the only creation of itself are already the top notch production
Pure utter brilliance!!!!
Love this! More of these sample-based projects please.
Great work man. Really diggin the progressive breaks vibe. Probably some of the best use of an Octatrack Ive seen around.
Best octatrack made song I've ever seen, period. Amazing, fresh, always changing, interesting and super groovy
thanks!
SICK!!!!!! Absolutely SICK!!!! DAAAM‘n wuhuuuuu ok, this is..... Sick

I have repeatedly come back to replay the song, listen to it a few times and on occasion watch the how to. Still absolutely epic!
Wow, outstanding masterpiece, very impressive. Start to finish, I love the the panning and use of stereo & changing instruments. Not to mention the info & breakdown with notes...keep it rolling, I subscribed immediately...thanks again!
0:22 onwards some of main samples are from Cesar Mariano & Cia. - São Paulo • Brasil, one of my all time fav Brazilian albums!
Yeah! My friend Dave sent me the record and challenged me to make a song with it. All sounds except the synths are from it.
Excellent walkthrough Jay and awesome track, we need more progressive 7/8 tracks in 2022. ;)
This is so Hosking, i love that !
This is freakin amazing Jay!!! I absolutely love the range of instrument samples you utilized and scene transitions are on point as always.

Everything on here is awesome, but this...this deserves a vinyl pressing.
I'm following you since 2years I guess, and now I'm sure, u are a genius ;) Cheers from France, don't stop to love analog gears
There’s only one analog device in the video. Just saying.
@@LukezyM Who said there is more than One analog gears ? But ok, I should say : "don't stop to love Hardware gears" Sound better for u ?
This was absolutely unreal. Just got an octatrack, so excited to learn it!
Beautiful track

Excellent music. A great display of what the Octatrack can do when given a good starting point. I chose the MPC over the Octatrack but they seem to complement each other so that puts it back on the wishlist!
god i love 7/8.
Top quality stuff as always. Made a weird time signature sound very natural. Still not much idea of how the Octatrack works bar having a crossfader but been seeing it in a lot of jams around the place lately
At its heart, the Octatrack is just a sample player and a mixer, but you can take it to some great places. Worth checking out!
It really sounds great! Love at first sound. :)
Great jam, I love the bass.
