Any man that calls Anthony Cumia a ''Back alley Tunisian knife fighter'' is a fucking comedy genius.
That line still has me laughing! Or when Jim went "Im shooting something in the end of october" and Colin without missing a beat goes "Yourself i hope" Has me rolling on the floor still
almost pissed on myself laughing so hard
A "Corsican Pimp"! lolol
Let's not forget "Iranian Kevin James" to Bob Kelly
Then I will call Anthony Cumia a ''Back alley Tunisian knife fighter''
Colin Quinn is so good he doesn't even realize it. True Genius.
jess van you should watch his appearances on Opie and Anthony. He knows he's a genius, and it tortures him the kinda shit that blows up in showbusiness, while he struggles along with canceled show after canceled show. He's bitter over the fact that he knows he's a genius, but showbiz doesn't see it. Tough Crowd failing really hurt him.
He routinely tells everyone he's a genius and I believe him
@@SugarKingObiI’ve listened to all of his radio interviews and I’ve never heard him say he’s a genius. The Michio Kaku episode he roasts Jim Norton for trying to act like a genius
I imagine Jerry walking out of the theater, turning to Colin and saying that was brutal!
Colin has so many original thoughts, he can barely finish a sentence.
if you dont act right im going to make you watch colins one man show
He actually says the same thing about himself on Tough Crowd th-cam.com/video/RfqBjnNpjbc/w-d-xo.html 9:42:50
Cause he's drunk
Eh
Colin opened up for a friend a few years back at the Bell House in Brooklyn. Tore the place down. Belly laughs. He is a hugely underrated talent.
meh, he's okay as long as it's his tailor-made crowd which would be as you described. You also died over Andrew Dice Clay. Quinn is Meh, not horrible
@@topsuperseven7910Colin on O and A beating the crap out of other comedians is when he won me over.
I can't believe at 5:35 when Jerry said if people paid to see this show they'd be in trouble. I am in heaven just listening to him talk about anything besides that meditation stuff.
I thought I was there for a laugh but in the end my eyes teared up a little bit to see two respectful top of the line NYC comedians appreciating each other publicly. Most respect gents.
Colin Quinn is such a huge talent, far beyond his exposure and recognition. I've enjoyed him for decades, its too bad he doesn't get more respect.
He gets recognition from true comedy fans and fellow comics he just isn't mainstream.
"No respect, no reguard at all."
Its because of his views.
Colin and Norm Macdonald are the comedians I get the most bad feedback for sharing their work. And they are two of the best ever.
@@jerry12314 He is also a bit awkward, his delivery is rough and doesn't carry the jokes as well and he seems very uncomfortable, but he's very funny
Such a massive display of GENIUS
The interviewer was clearly a fan and just a bit nervous. Laughs were real though. And so was his interest.
You’re the only one who thinks his laughs were genuine. Even Jerry calls him out on it.
I wish Patrice was here to see this. Good interview.
Have we seen Charlie's father on It's Always Sunny, yet? Colin would be perfect for the part.
interviewer has a great hysteric laugh that nearly takes over sometimes.. it leads the crowd on too.. but comedians will never turn a hysteric laugh down from anyone.. i think they appreciate this guy because you can see he genuinely finds them so funny..
It felt as if he was trying to imitate Jerry Seinfelds laughter. It was super annoying.
its not a guy its I 3 s 8 i /\ N ... if you write that word out the comment gets deleted. That is female combed in strange way, hormone induced facial hair on female cheeks next to female lips and teeth. The spirit and thoughts and questions do not sound like a man's at all. Very eery and annoying.,
Love when Colin Quinn makes those faces!
David's laugh is awesome
Two New York comedy legends
I like this young guy's genuine interviewing style. Unpolished is much better than the pretty air-heads we have to put up with on networks. But I hope he pays attention to comments about his sycophantic laughter. That really is challenging to listen to for an hour.
4:42 Every comedian's dream is to just riff. The beauty of writing.
David Itzkoff is like that cool buddy you had in 7th grade study hall who was insanely smart and giggled at just about everything you said.
Colin just having a conversation is hysterically funny...extremely underrated and should have been that third chair on the Stern show. I love his tiny hands
Quinn is such a good comedian.
And a terrible actor, lol. If you watch the ‘Cop Show’ clip.
Intern David made something out of himself after all
Thank you for this O & A reference
So jerry, you grew up in long island jerry?
Wooooooooh whoooooooooo!
Was he trying to imitate Jerry Seinfelds laughter ? It was super annoying. I liked the parts where Colin and Jerry where talking.
This interviewer looks like he'd be extremely scared of a lawn mower.
Yeah. I actually couldn’t keep watching this. His questions are terrible. He’s uncomfortable and petrified the 12 mins. Couldn’t keep going.
Possibly the cheapest suit I've seen on television.
@@frankiek2269 he sounds and looks like a 12 year old Jewish boy before his bar-mitzvah. Not yet a man. I listened to most of it as he was a typical NYT type of guy.
Two great comedians--showing their brains at work!
This is the best that this publication has for a interviewer.
The pooper scooper law in New York City was the best law ever
North of Ireland 💚... thanks Colin.
I didn't know Jerry Seinfeld directed Colin's off broadway show! They are having a special together, but it's great with each of their own style
Best joke on stage is the presenter who is transitioning . Thanks for making me laugh. So funny. The classic transition beard and the child in an adults suit look 😂😂😂
This is a fun interview, entertaining and educational. I thought Dave Itzkoff did a nice job.
I was waiting for Colin to call the interviewer "Bush League".
I like the interviewer...he's got a great laugh.
Agreed the interviewer is amazing. What a guy.
Nice to see all the o&a fans here in the comments. Colin, Patrice, Vos, Bobby and Jimmy were the best things about it
55:40 nice mouthful of ice for the upcoming question, Col
You really can hear here how Patrice would be honored to find out that Colin wrote the forward for his Mr. P album. Brilliant comedian.
Here yee hear yee 😆
58:21 totally agree with Jerry's answer... probably the best advice I've ever heard.
His bit on creative people and nobody knowing what works, its so true. Give the creator room and see what comes from it.
Fabulous peak at the backstage of geniality. Thank you for this wonderful video.
Great interview
Oh literal Dave Itzkoff
Only Colin would sit there and crunch on ice...
He's trying to get all the alcohol he can out of the glass.
"It's Gold Jerry "
The interviewer reminds me of Louie's agent on his show. The one who's clearly a teenager 😆
Colin Quinn s show Red State Blue State was so funny! But to this day I watch Seinfeld reruns! It's a classic....A show about nothing lmao..Larry David did some great writing!
Had to order coloring book... Two comedic Genius...in different categories
the coloring book is so funny. great book.
Colin is great at deadpan delivery
boy, the interviewer needs an Oscar for best performance.
The guy who is moderating is spot on.Great Job!!!!
You’re the only person I’ve seen say he is good.
What exit? 🤣🤣❤️
Loved long story short
It's clear that Dave Itzkoff is a capable, intelligent person, who seems like he has a genuine interest in comedy. I do not buy his laugh is real for 1 second. I'm not saying his laugh is completely fake 100% of the time. Much of the time it seems like a real laugh, that evolves into a rehearsed laugh. Other times, the laugh is completely fake. He's young enough where he could stop, go through the awkward period where he reveals, by beginning to laugh naturally, that he was fake or over laughing, and set himself free from the burden of the exaggerated laughter. David, if you happen to read this, the embarrassment of transitioning into a real laugh will last for only a few months. Marrying yourself to this over the top, forced laugh your doing right now is the equivalent of building a prison for yourself that prevents you from every really knowing anybody, because who could get close to a guy with a laugh like that? This fake laugh is standing between you and real love. Change it, and you could be a guy people genuinely like. When you're gone, people will really miss you. Keep it, and nobody trusts you ever. I realize this comment may seem overly dramatic & a little crazy, especially because we do not know one another. But what I am telling you is true, and I feel strongly enough about it, I took the time to write this. You only live once, don't spend your one life as a fake laugher.
I think it's a nervous laugh as he's feeling like he's not interviewing them well. Just my opinion. But it sure is true he's not as ease here and it's distracting.
@@noahman27 And he would be right...
Brilliant!
Jimmy Fallon is laughing right now
Joking about people's financial hardships is always a win. Can I rent that joke from you?
He doesn't get the old NY,lmao...This show is probably hysterical! Johnny Carson was a great interviewer because he was funny,a comedian also and very witty and just laughed in his interviewers...One of a kind
Any videos like this with Colin and Robert DeNiro?
I wonder if Jerry knows that Colin is funnier than him?
Colin is funnier than everyone though. But like Patrice he's better at being funny than writing and managing his career.
damn it. i'm reminded of patrice again. he is missed.
Jesse G I respect jerry but Colin is just a one of a kind!! So sassy
Rick Grimes You got that right. His laughter, honesty and ability to cut through hypocrisy and pc nonsense with razor sharp insights is very missed. New York now has a law that states that employers must respect chosen gender pronouns if they don't want to risk a fine. I would have loved to hear Patrice's take on this.
Yeh, dude, and Jerry isn't THE MENSCH OF ALL COMICS. Sheeeit. What a stupid comment.
I grew up in NYC and many of my thoughts are expressed here. I love 38:59-39:06 re: Disneyfication/soulcrushing v. knifepoint/bloodletting. Everyone loves the NYC that was there when they were young...a humbling realization after you've lived through it's very tough times.
I wonder how honest Seinfeld was being when he said appearing like you're making a point is a comedic slight of hand. How much of what Quinn says is authentic and how much is a gimmick.
All of it
I love Jerry and Colin, but between Colin and the interviewer not being able to speak in complete sentences is killing me
This kid is my new hero! First of all, he lands a head reporter gig for his grammar school paper. And if that weren't enough, he scores an interview with Colin Quinn AND Jerry Seinfeld! He did mention he was married...But I won't hold that against him. He's still young and will probably figure out that it's a trap. Good luck kid! ps. If I mean WHEN he writes his memoirs, may I be so bold as to suggest for the title 'Story at Eleven...Years Old'
Great interviewer
lol
Said no one.
Powerful bluesy instrumentation on that one. I believe Amanda Shires writes all her own songs. For a lighter song of hers try "Pale Fire", it has great lyrical imagery
Seinfeld is the Pete Townsend of comedy.
They should've had a packet of ketchup interview them.
I can totally see why people get annoyed with the host/interviewer but I think with 2 powerhouse comics/actors you did a good job staying on task and not getting lost in a single bit. With two of funniest comedians it'd be very easy to throw script and talk Seinfeld for an hour or the have Colin hit every character in his new show. I give the goober some props bc his laughs were more genuine then credit for but I couldn't invite him Sunday brunch or anything lol
That's the best comment here
is you gay gf?
Brownsville represent 💪🏼
I’m not from New York, but I’ll represent for you.
artisanal cookie and a PBR! lol
Jerry has one of the most impressive I don't give a shit attitudes I've ever seen.
I wonder what would be their take on Eddie Izzard shows:)
Guys, check out Colin Quinn's "Long Story Short" if you haven't already. Directed by Jerry Seinfeld, it's awesome.
The audio level is too low.
And in mono shifted way to the left.
Maybe when these two comics make it big the Times will spend some money on the sound.
A good interviewer minimizes how much they talk and is there to prompt good responses and stories from the interviewees....
This interviewer is enthusiastic and genuine and he has put a lot of thought to ask poignant questions....but that's part of the problem.
The major problem is in his too-long question 'set-up' -where he's answering 2/3 of the question himself instead teeing up the question and letting his guests respond with the depth and details.
That leaves very little for Colin and Jerry to respond to and elaborate for themselves, other than to acknowledge and say "yeah, that's right...."
--Also, some of the questions are not good...
I agree with @BravoB's comment... afterwards, Jerry probably did say to Colin "that was brutal!"
Thanks for weighing in.
*Funny guy* !!
Nice left channel audio in headphones. The friggin New York Times couldn't fix this?
Thank you, a surprising lack of concern about this stereo balance problem in the top comments, as of right now.
cicgc with norm confirmed. winky smiley face.
omg his laugh was way too much
Colin is 60 and Jerry is 65.
Wow, that Colin guy sounds just like Jay Mohr!
OK...... I'll say it. I thought the interviewer was pretty good.
It's probably not a popular opinion, but I like his unpolished style. How do people say it these days? Authentic (without trying to be)..
He was essentially the naive straight man that allowed the humor to volley off of him. He wasn't too good or too bad which made him perfect.
My two cent’s worth: Only comedians should be allowed to interview other comedians; but they didn’t know that back then, apparently.
The only good thing about Jerry Seinfeld is that he promotes Colin Quinn.
Crazy to think Seinfeld is 5 years older than Quinn, lol.
Actually Colin and Jerry could have done this show without the interviewer by just talking to each other
Why is the sound so muffled? Really difficult to understand sometimes.
at 28 minutes in -- the guy from the NYT got what Rob Becker knew all those years ago with "Defending the Caveman" -- the theater is not any one genre's domain. Which is what so much of the NYT's anger was with his show.
That 2nd button is a little high.
Jerry Seinfeld is a genius! Comes to NBC, gets the Seinfeld series going as a creator, producer, writer and actor, has it going for 9 seasons, goes out on top at number 1, sells the syndication rights to Seinfeld the gets him $100 Million!!
I’m going back to Brooklyn. I don’t think so! Funny videos people. You tube it’s hilarious
28:36 - 30:14
Me every night 8:30 sharp at t/ Club Tarjay on 181st or anytime i go to t/ dentist 😆😎
how do they find these hosts
jerry makes a key comment about this, when mentioning an admission price
and how did that host find a wife
Here from Rogan #1541, 2020.
19:02
Jerry,
The analogy i placed on your friendship was comparible to the pretty girl with the over wieght friend.
The interviewer is Josh Goodnaturedly
Lmao
The interviewer has the exact same voice as intern Dave
Colin is So much funnier that Seinfeld
Seinfeld is a hack. His entire routine consists of paraphrased examples of what ‘observational comedy’ is. If he wasn’t one of the original comedians, and didn’t have a sitcom, he would be bombing literally every night, anywhere in the world other than cruise ships and retirement homes.
18:15 can’t take it anymore
Is this MY DAVID!?!?
The audience would all be dead if it wasn't for my David!
Bad Audio.....
Interviewer does not go with the flow of conversation with two of greatest conversationalist in our culture. The interviewer keeps trying to direct the flow instead of surrendering and going with the authenticity. No point to prove but just enjoy the company of words flow
today, i don't think we would see this interview with a moderator. after years of listening to podcasts where comedians are talking to each other, we realize the moderator is kind of redundant
Podcasts usually aren't in front of a huge audience, I can see where even seasoned comedians could just fall flat going on stage with no direction, no questions, and not doing their act.
Interviewing is kind of an art, and ideally the interviewer gets to compelling topics quickly, and keeps the guest talking freely. If jerry and colin just got up there and started small talk with no structure, it would be a boring mess, even as interesting as they both are. They also wouldn't have a chance to talk about as many different things that they covered. I didn't think the moderator was terrible, either.
I listen to podcasts all the time, they're great to listen to in the background while doing something, but there's plenty of them that are boring, just go nowhere, or are comedians that ramble on for 20 min. at a time. It's like some of them forget they're supposed to be entertaining, it isn't a phone call lol.
As a longtime fan of both Jerry and Colin, I've studied their career trajectories, and it's pretty clear that they both made a deal with the devil...Jerry just had better representation.
It's sad, they need to repent
