    Avi Fishoff brought me to real Yiddishkite through the holy Rebbe Rabbi Sholom Noach Berezovsky ztl and his chavrusa (at least at the time) Yaakov Shain and translating a piece of Nesivos Shalom. Every book written by Avi Fishoff has brought me closer to Yiddishkite. 🙏

    I’m not a very emotional person and I cry very rarely but I don’t know why I teared up several times during this episode. There’s something about the way he speaks that brings up emotions. Thank you so much and I hope that you’ll indeed do a part two.

    awesome episode, as someone who suffered a little growing up and a relatively new father this gives me hope that I can raise my children to be happy. it took me 15 years to realise my parents loved me but didn't know how to deal with me.

    Loved this interview with Avi and was very suprised to hear and find out he is such a Mechanech.
    Is it possible you got him to talk next time more about his musical years as Mr. 'Solid gold'?!

    Thanks for your amazing work with all the beautiful interviews always!

    Wow, Best episode ever!! There have been many great episodes, but often it's about the meaningful people, their background and upbringing, what prompted them to do things, etc. But this episode, while so enjoyable to listen to, was jam packed with serious, critical information and practical advice on how to raise children today. Avi also has the many years of experience and the stats to prove its success! As the Noviminsker Rebbe zt"l always said when these kinds of issues came to him "Halacha k'Reb Avi"! It's not only a good way to raise children, it's the ONLY way!! And this interview is just a tip-of-the-iceberg insight into what these amazing books are about..

    One very important thing which wasn’t mentioned:
    How much does Avi Fishoff charge for his 24/7 support that he gives to the parents under his guidance?
    All of Avi’s guidance is FREE of charge. $0!
    This includes his training process which takes up many hours and his phone calls for advice and his support groups for the parents under his guidance.

    Highly recomended to go listen to the beginning of that version of the podcast (the first 20 min aren’t on TH-cam) where they also discuss Avi’s father, Benny Fishoff A”H, who a book from Artscroll was just released about, so much to learn from that part which isn’t the same topics as the rest of this podcast.
    They also discuss Avi’s Music side to him and the albums he composed and produced, Solid Gold, and his very famous song “A Shabbos in Mezbish” with the story behind the song and other fascinating parts.

    Thank you for this... I told my son I think today what's lacking is parental honesty. Growing up I also wanted things my parents couldn't afford. Today's parents borrow to buy for kids so חו''ש they won't feel different. Parents are in masses of debt because of their childrens' feelings. My parents couldn't afford & said, ''No. I don't have the money''. I hated not having, but I didn't hate my parents for not giving!

    He seems sincere and authentic, but...I don't get it. He does not explain the process he uses with the young Jews he treats. What is revolutionary about his approach? We don't know, because he does not explain. Also, what are his credentials? I am not saying you need an MSW or other psychology degree to help, but it makes me nervous when someone does not ground his practice in some kind of foundation. I mean, would you trust a rav to psokin for you if he didn't have smicha?

    • @hananbenariliveconcert
      @hananbenariliveconcert 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If you listened to the podcast you would understand that all of his guidance comes from his dealings with the kids first hand and how he realized that the world didn’t fully understand what these kids are dealing with because they didn’t feel safe to open up, so he took that approach to teach the parents so the kids can have the full effect - a person to trust and a home to return to - which is the most important part.
      The best training is what you see first hand. Not what is written in a book or taught in a classroom.

    • @roblebo905
      @roblebo905 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@hananbenariliveconcert Oy. Why do you assume I did not listen to the podcast? Because I offered a criticism of it? I listened to it, which is why I felt it was "off" in some way. Everybody knows that troubled kids and troubled adults are troubled because they do not feel loved or seen or appreciated for who they are. But I felt that his success stories seemed too pat, too linear, and life does not work that way. And for individuals who have felt unloved their whole lives, it is not going to be easy for them to believe they are loved. So I wanted to know the specifics - how did he make them feel loved, and most importantly, how did he help them continue to feel loved even after they left his place. I felt Momo and Nachi could have pushed him harder here, so we can learn more about his method and practice.

    • @jayk223

      @@roblebo905the keyword you are looking for - and missing in this podcast is 'structure'.
      All HSH members had to get a 'job' and obey to the house 'rules and schedule'.
      I've had the privilege to place some of those kids into the workforce. Which was one of conditions prior to moving in.
      the results I've witnessed was amazing.

    • @msfuerst1
      @msfuerst1 9 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      @@roblebo905 very delicate subject. As you can see from other replies it is very easy for people to misinterpret and misunderstand Avi’s methodology. All that I would say is that if you are in the Parsha he is THE ADDRESS and he can send you a PDF with Hamlatzos from virtually every Godol in our generation.

      @@msfuerst1 Thanks for your reply but I feel like everyone else is either seeing something that I am not seeing or else I am asking basic questions that for some reason no one wants to address. Did I miss something about where he talks about his methodology? As for the hamlatzos from the gedolim, this makes me even more confused, as what are the hamlatzos for? I can understand them vouching for his midos, but for anything else, it seems outside the scope of their expertise. It's like giving hamlatzos for a medication. Ok, but I would rather hear from a pharmacist or the FDA than my rebbe. I will listen to this again because it seems like I heard a different podcast than everyone else on here...
